There are many uses for the 4 foot chain leash by Spartacus, most notably sensation play and dominance/submission. With a variety of textures, shapes, and temperatures, let your imagination guide you. One major function of a leash is to give your slave/submissive directions. This leash makes it extremely easy and effective to lead your slave anywhere, even outdoors. Since the chain links are small, each movement is very responsive, even a gentle tug could be felt by the submissive provided the chain is pulled taught.

Another great function about this particular leash is the swivel spring clip. You can attach it to a collar, a rope, onto any of the chain links within the leash, or to anything that fits inside the clip. It is a strong visual indication to people that the person using the leash is a slave/submissive status in a BDSM relationship. A dominant partner uses the leash as a psychological reinforcement to the submissive of their slave status, while imposing humiliation.

The chain on the metal heats and cools very fast, making it excellent for temperature play. It will warm up slowly by body heat, or you can dip it in hot water for more intense heat. The chain can be slowly dragged across or around certain areas to provide both temperature and texture stimulation. Since the chain is relatively thin, and the links are small, it is very easy to control just how much “give” you want to the leash. Start off short and with less give for more accurate and gentler tickling, or elongate the chain for more weight and heavier, even painful, impressions. Using portions of the chain as a whip will REALLY hurt and inflict injury – use extreme caution!

The leather handle is comfortable to hold for extended periods of time, and feels very sturdy. Its texture gives an empowering feeling to the dominant partner. The studs on the leather handle and the chain create different textures against external erogenous zones on your body that can feel great (or painful). I love the feeling of the studs when slowly rubbed on my nipples. When used for whipping or flogging, the studded side of the leather provides a nice contrast to the smooth leather on the other side.

The leash is made of a leather handle with studs and a four foot long metal chain. The handle is made of leather with five pyramid studs. Two metal rivets secure the D-ring to the handle. It is then connected to the chain through a small key ring. Another key ring holds the swivel spring clip to the chain on the other end.








The studs are stapled through the leather handle on one side. You can see the staples from the inside of the handle. The staples are flattened to the surface of the handle so it will not hurt the user. The other side of the leather handle is completely smooth.

The studs are pretty heavyweight, but they are not pointy or sharp, so you do not have to worry about sharp edges hurting your partner. There is a whiff of leather smell if you hold it close to your nose. Otherwise there is no smell to te leash.

I was quite excited when I got the 4 foot chain leash in the mail. The package came heavier than I expected. When I took it out of the box and plastic bag, I was surprised at how heavy and rather attractive the toy looked. Simply holding the leash by its leather handle up high allowed me to feel how sturdy and responsive the dangling chains were. My mind was immediately filled with BDSM fantasies using this leash.

I have tested this leash with temperature, texture, and other sensation plays. The leash has surpassed my expectations in all these areas, and a number of fantasies were fulfilled. However, there are a few issues with regards to the quality of the product.

The handle is very comfortable. After an hour of playing with the leash, thin leather scraps started coming off from the inside of it. If Spartacus had put some lining on the inside, the handle would probably last a lot longer.

The studs on the leather could be made better. They are placed on the leather with slightly uneven distances apart, and the metal feels a bit cheap. What concerns me most is the hooks on the backside, they look like the studs are stapled against the leather then flattened. They have not caused me any problems so far, but it looks like they might come loose with some use.



Perhaps the most flimsy part of the leash is the key rings that connect the chain to the handle and the swivel spring clip. They look thin and flimsy. However, if they bend or break, they can be easily replaced.

There’s not much caring and cleaning needed for the leash. It comes in a flimsy plastic bag, which I threw away when the product arrived. You will have to provide your own storage. To prevent fading of the leather, store it in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. The entire leash can be easily looped around the leather and compacted into a small size.

The leather may be difficult to clean. Wiping with a moist towel or using leather cleaner should not damage the leather. The chain can be easily washed with soap and water, and towel dried.
