Locked up
These are nice-quality, black metal leg irons that are dual-locking. The chain is long enough for some movement and most sex positions. They're both good looking and durable.Published: January 3, 2010
Pros:
Double-locking, long chain, fits most, metal, many uses.
Cons:
Paint job a little dodgy.
For those of you that are staring at the product picture scratching your heads, leg irons are like handcuffs for your feet. They can be round or oval-shaped (this pair is round), and have a larger cuffs to fit the ankles and a longer chain to give the wearer a bit of movement.
This pair of leg irons is double-locking, which is absolutely great. Once clicked in place, they won't tighten or loosen unless you put the key in and adjust them yourself. However, they are not quick-release. Make sure you have a key nearby (it comes with two) and a key put in a safe place (just in case the first gets lost in the heat of the moment). I keep one key on my key chain and the other sits on the nightstand when the cuffs are in use. I found that the keys were easy to use and opened the lock quickly; the only difficulty I had was that since the cuffs are black, it's harder to see the key hole!
These restraints are metal. Extra care should be given not to put them on too tightly to avoid injury. DON'T leave them on for an extended period of time, and DON'T try to use them for suspension play. DO have fun feeling the shiver of excitement from the cool metal that cheap plastic cuffs just can't give you.
Looks wise, these cuffs are a matte black. They look sophisticated, slightly badass, and won't reflect light painfully into your eye like the shiny silver counterparts can. My set, however, had some smudges that resembled a thumbprint-in-wet-paint look. I was disappointed, but it's only noticeable up close and didn't affect the performance or far-away appearance of the toy.
When I wore these leg irons for the first time I had to have them loosened after a few seconds of play. I could walk fine in them, but when the muscles in my leg flexed with the step it was painful. When putting these on, make sure you give yourself or your partner plenty of movement room. I'd suggest trying them out beforehand to see how tight you need them, to avoid that "Agh! This is not right!" pause.
The cuffs fit both me (a smaller woman with smallish legs) and my partner (a tall guy with muscular legs). They adjust from a 7" to an 11" circumference. The chain measures in at 17". I found it was pretty easy to walk, but I have short strides anyway. Quick movements are hard or impossible. If you do feel inclined to go for quick movements, I'd wrap something around the ankle to prevent scraping or chafing.
I found these cuffs to be sturdy and durable. They didn't get scratched or dinged, or fall apart, and I've already put quite a bit of wear on them.
The great thing about these is that if you buy them and decide, "Meh, leg restrain really isn't my thing," you can use them as handcuffs with an extra long chain. I found that the extra length gives you a more room to wrap around bed posts. It also lets you have your arms at your sides (but still restrained) when cuffed and on your back, instead of behind your back and digging into your skin. The only limit to these cuffs' versatility is your imagination!

Experience
Sex while wearing these leg irons was definitely fun and interesting. Obviously there are going to be positions that can't be done, but with such a long chain I found that my legs were able to be spread wide enough for quite a few. Paired with a set of handcuffs, you can have a kinky bondage session, master/slave or dominant/submissive time, a cop/criminal role play... or just sex while wearing leg irons and handcuffs, which is great fun.
The container these came in baffled me. It's big plastic cylinder with a hanger on top. It took me a while to figure out out the right cuff setting to get them back in, and I'm honestly not sure why I'd use it to store them if it's that much trouble and takes up so much space (maybe I could put multiple sets of cuffs in it?). Also, the paint from the cuffs scuffed up the inside of it. It was definitely different, and I know if I'd seen the packaging in a brick-and-mortar store I'd have been drawn to it immediately.
Unfortunately due to my freakishy-small wrists, I slipped right out of these when I used them as extra-long handcuffs. :(

Good tips and good review Jane!
Very nice review! And thanks for all that info. I had never heard of these before. But now my curiousity is piqued.
These look fun
Good review!
Nice review! Have you used leather cuffs? Curious as to your feelings of metal vs leather?
Awww. You actually included something about safety - it makes me happy. You might want to mention not to use them for anything rough either because it's unforgiving and can easily bruise you.
Great review, though.
Nicely written -- very restrained. ;-)
Thanks guys!
Liz - I have used leather cuffs, and I love them - but I also love metal cuffs, too.
Leather is better when you really want to struggle, because the metal can bruise (like Mistress Kay just said) or damage the skin or muscles underneath if you're *really* rough. I like the buckling aspect of leather cuffs and the fact that they're a little more versatile since you can use any clips/lengths of restraint/etc you want, but then again I like the straight-forwardness of handcuffs/leg irons too.
MK- Thanks.
I think a lot of people see handcuff jokes and use on TV, and don't realize.. if you're rough, it can freakin' HURT in a bad way. Glad you liked it!
Nice job
Thanks Laurel
Very informative review, thank you!
Thank you! And thanks for the comments
Great review!
nice to see the middle chain has some length to it.
Thanks
It does have quite a good length on it, though not so much that I was tripping over it or escaping... though I do like a good escape every now and then!
really good review thank you!
Nice review Miss Jane
Thanks for the informative review.
