Rita - whip discontinued by Leatherbeaten - review by Red

Charming little Rita is a long and thin mini-flogger, with eight 1/4" wide and 18" long falls attached to a thin and light handle. She's small - a mini flogger, if you will - but she packs a sharp stinging punch regardless.

Rita's handle is eight inches long and half an inch thick and is made of delrin, which is a very lightweight and strong hard plastic. The falls are attached to the handle by a tight piece of molded tight rubber that is used to cinch down the skirt of leather to the delrin rod. The wrist strap is similarly attached to the opposite end of the delrin rod. The leather is a light and soft leather. Coupled with the thinly cut falls, Rita's weight makes her sharp and stingy.

Rita is light enough to use with leisurely up-down strikes for light stingy sprinklings of flogariffic fun on any broad area. She is especially lovely as a genital whip when used this way - light and widely dispersed. Hit with a bit more speed, the falls lump together into a mass and hit with a more directed whallop - well suited for strikes on large muscles, and a great addition to the thighs between lighter genital strikes. When used with a rapid pace figure eight style strike, the way that Rita slaps is fresh and sharp, but very directed.

As the flogger receiver, Rita makes a fantastic choice for avoiding intense pain while being able to enjoy the full range the toy can provide. Due to her size, fall width and weight, Rita tends to strike with sharp sting - but if thrown right will she give off some thud as well. Those that *only* like thud might find this toy a bit less to their liking, but really, Rita's sting is light and whimsically playful - not at all mean and nasty.

Present your derriere and the Rita to an unsuspecting partner and let the fun unfold - the bonus to Rita is that her learning curve is small to none, because she doesn't really pack enough to do some serious damage with an ill placed strike on the bum. If your partner has had a bit of practice with Rita, offer up your chest - Rita's skinny little falls feel divine licking over top of pert nipples and whalloping into the chest muscles below. For the courageous, or perhaps those ordered to do do, spread your legs and feel Ritas sting on your thighs, mons or shaft (note: with the balls covered...flogging testicles is NOT recommended), and as scary as that sounds, I promise you'll like her. Rita is even fun as an impromptu playful wrestling/fighting match, as she really won't sting too badly anywhere she's struck, and thus can be used very sporadically and carefree anywhere on the body. She's truly lovely, this little Rita...

As a leather flogger, Rita will fluid bond if she comes into contact with bodily fluids (especially important for genital flogging!), so if you're playing with a non-fluid bonded partner, wrap tender bits with saran wrap before flogging, or avoid the genital area all together. If Rita happens to mistakenly get some bodily fluids on her from a non-fluid bonded partner, she may be left to rest for six months or so before being used in a way that might risk cross contamination. Otherwise, Rita's leather falls may be cleaned off with a leather cleaning product (just go by a furniture or leather jacket store, they'll have some). In an absolute pinch, a very very mild cleanser and a soft tooth brush (or Q-tip) may be used to spot clean - just don't use a bunch of water. The derlin handle (being hard plastic) will tolerate a good wipe down in 10% bleach solution, a once over with rubbing alcohol, or even a hit of peroxide - but be sure and avoid getting any of those liquids on the leather. Store (cleaned) Rita wherever you see fit - just try and avoid direct sunlight.

Rita has held up well over time and play, showing no signs of wearing out. The attachment of the leather to the main handle/rod is still very solid. The leather seems a bit softer, but maybe that's my imagination.
