Lip paddle - flogging toy by Whipsmart - review by Kayla

The Lip Paddle is a paddle made from Whip Smart Toys that is purely leather on one side with the other side having a little "lip" imprint made with faux fur. The lip imprint is honestly pretty hard to see, so it just ends up looking like an oddly-shaped paddle most of the time. While there is no "real product size" widget for this paddle, the measurements are accurate, and the pictures portray the paddle very accurately too.

This Lip Paddle comes in some odd packaging. It's surprisingly tasteful packaging, and it shows a couple embracing as well as little male/female, female/female, male/male characters to show that it's fun for all genders and couples. The packaging itself is neat, but not at all suitable for storage. It's actually a little cardboard sleeve that fits over the lips portion of the paddle and leaves the handle exposed. It shows off the product just fine, but there's no way to use it for long-term storage.

You know what, not every "fun" paddle has to be for beginners, and that's perfectly okay with me. This little paddle is one of them. I can come out with this paddle, and my submissive may giggle at me. He may not even take this little Lips Paddle seriously. But in the end? Between the light-weight-ness of the paddle and the smooth, leather side, his/her butt is going to realize their mistake. This is actually, and surprisingly, a good paddle. When I picked it up, I was like "This can't be better than my $75 paddles, can it?" But it is. It's just as good as those expensive paddles, and I really do love it.

It really is a great paddle. When it comes to the person wielding the paddle, it's harder to find another paddle that's just as light-weight. This paddle is very light compared to other paddles, and for that reason, if you enjoy longer spankings, this one is great as it doesn't tire out your arm. Along with that, the handle is just the right size to be easy to grip and manuever. Plus, the paddle has two different sensations, and if you want to be really, REALLY mean, (and I do not recommend this unless you want bruising and know what you're doing), the points of each side of the lip can be used as an impact toy for bruising and some extra points of pain. So really, you get three different sensations in one. I'm all for that. Something that is worth noting is that, if your hands tend to get sweaty, the leather of the handle is pretty slick and doesn't have much texture, so the paddle will slip from your hands if you aren't careful. It wasn't a horrible problem as long as I wasn't using it for really long sessions, but it could happen.

How does it feel? It depends on which side you use. The faux fur side is actually pretty gentle. It feels like being hit on the butt with a piece of thick cardboard, which, if you've ever been hit with one, doesn't feel painful, but it's more of a "thud" that lets you know you've been hit. It's pretty easy to withstand long spankings with that "thud" sensation to them, so it does make a really good paddle for beginners because of the fur side. This fur side is soft as well, so it doesn't leave any sort of a sting on the bottom.

However, the opposite side is a plain side with slick, leather. This side is slightly plushy, and there's also a little seam line running through the middle of the paddle to make this side look like "lips". This side is much, much more stingy. Because of how light-weight this paddle is, the Dominant can definitely get a lot of force behind this side, and it can end up causing some pretty intense pain if you aren't careful. It can be used lightly, but it could also be used roughly as well. This side could possibly cause bruising if used for a long time, but it definitely can cause pain if you use it roughly.

There is just one downside to this paddle, and for that I do have to dock it a star. This paddle's fur seems to only be glued onto the paddle. As far as I can tell (and correct me if I'm wrong), but the fur is only glued on except for the middle seam, and there's no sort of stitching or anything else to keep it on the paddle on the outside edges. This means that, with long-term use or after getting it wet, you may find that your lips paddle is well....without lips. Because of the price, I would snatch up another one of these paddles in an instant, but it is worth mentioning, and it is something I wish the manufacturers would have changed. I really do like this paddle, and I'm afraid it might fall apart in the future with no way to purchase another one.

Cleaning this is interesting. For one, leather doesn't like soap, so I highly recommend not using soap on this. For another, I don't think soaking this is going to help the glue last, so you shouldn't do that either. I recommend you use a very, very small amount of warm on a washcloth and wipe down the leather and fur and let it dry. I recommend against getting lubricant or bodily fluids on tis as it could decrease the lifespan of it drastically. The paddle can be stored however you like, but there is no hanging strap on the handle for hanging.

This paddle? I like it. Surprisingly. I always think that cheaper items are always going to be worse, and luckily, in this case, Whip Smart Toys did a great job of making a budget into a really good toy. Is it amazingly heavy or thuddy? No. Are you going to get a lot of "wow, that looks expensive!"? No. Is it a light-weight paddle that provides three-different sensations while still making it easy on the Top? Yes, yes, yes!

I really don't know why (really!), but this paddle gets used a lot. We have tons more expensive paddles than this, but this one almost always gets pulled out. I think it's because the paddle makes little-to-no pain at all. Between the faux fur and the light weight of the paddle, it really is just a complete thuddy sensation that doesn't offer much, if any, sting at all on the faux fur side. This isn't really a complaint - as my partner really likes this sensation - but just an explanation. It has held up really well to the frequent use, though, and it definitely has done more than I expected it to.
