Lined collar by Spartacus - review by Mwar

The Lined Collar by Spartacus is fairly straightforward. It's designed to fit around the human neck. It is adjustable enough for most necks regardless of gender. The collar could also retrain ankles or forearms depending on the size. It also has a D-ring that allows for further restrains or a leash to be attached. It is fairly comfortable to wear and easy to take on and off. This could be an option for someone's first collar. Advanced users might want something that is capable of locking or something a bit slimmer to make long term wear easier. The collar is a little thick, so it's great for a play session, but maybe not for extended periods of time.

This is by no means a discreet collar. If you're looking for something to wear out on the town, this one will be very, very obvious. If you're going for that, well, rock on, but those who want to wear a choker or collar in public without being too glaring might want to check out daintier options.

This collar will fit most necks. It is adjustable in the style of a typical belt. There are ten holes on the collar that are spaced about 1 centimeter apart. In fact, I think this runs a bit on the larger side. If you have an average to smaller sized neck, you will be able to fit this on but you will have some slack from the belt part of the collar. It can stick outward so the collar doesn't look as streamlined. This doesn't really affect the function of the collar, but it can be an aesthetic tic. I wish this collar came with an additional metal loop that you could thread the slack through.



Either way, the collar's faux fur is comfortable on the neck. It also is warm, but not overly so. It feels soft. The leather is nothing fancy, but hey, it's leather! Being made of leather, the Lined Collar is far from vegan. It does have that slight leather smell, but it is not overbearing. You have to put your nose to it to smell it. It also has some metal fasteners on it, which I'm guessing it to keep the fur connected to the leather.

Being leather, the collar is pretty darn sturdy. I have pulled on it with my hands as hard as I could and I have not seen any obvious signs of damage. If anything were to break on this collar, I think the buckle would go first.

The usefulness of this collar depends on your needs. If you occasionally use the Lined Collar during sex occasionally, this this collar will suit well. If you need a collar for long term wear or for something to sleep in then this might be too thick and bulky for you. If you have an average to shorter neck, it's basically impossible to look down while wearing this. This collar also doesn't have any bells or whistles; it has a basic design.



The good part about this collar is that the D-ring and buckle are made of metal, not plastic. You can attach thin rope, restraints, or a leash to the D-ring. It can hold up to serious pulling if attached to a leash without any signs of wear. If you don't have or prefer leashes, a finger can loop into the D-ring and pull at the collar.



The Lined Collar goes on easy; it's basically like a belt. Thread it through the buckle and pick a hole that allows for a secure fit but it is loose enough that you can fit a couple of fingers underneath. Also, being made of leather, this toy should not be used in water or in the shower.

Leather and faux fur is pretty easy to clean, especially if you keep it from getting wet. Sweat could collect on the interior of the collar, so you'll probably need to clean this every once in a while. How often you need to clean it depends on how much you sweat and how intense the session you have are. To clean the faux fur, spraying some no-water needed toy cleaner on a rag and wiping the faux fur down. To clean the leather, I suggest a damp cloth and water. If for some reason you get the Lined Collar very wet, it's best to give it at least 24 hours to dry completely (the same goes for leather shoes too, the more you know).

Once wiped down, the Lined Collar should be stored in a cool, dry place so it can breathe. Hanging it in a closet is a good option. Placing it in a bin under the bed will work as well. Keep the collar out of direct sunlight to keep the leather from drying, cracking, and fading. Every once in a while you could use a little leather cleaner to keep the leather supple.

The packaging for the Lined Collar is very minimal. It's a clear, plastic snap-shell packaging that opens by simply pulling it apart. The collar is easy to view in the packaging so it is far from discreet (and you won't be able to pass this off as a pet collar). There is also a woman on the packaging wearing the collar (if I recall correctly. Also, I'm sure the packaging has changed on this at least once). While you could store the collar in the packaging, it's not the best place since leather is a material that needs to breathe and plastic will only increase the chance of molding.

There are no instructions with the Lined Collar, but there are no tricks to this one and it is easy to use. I would remove the packaging if presenting this to your partner. The collar can easily be looped together and hung on a hook, so storage is a breeze.

This is my first collar. I had been wanting a collar for a while but didn't know how my partner would respond to one. He is very open, but I didn't want him to do something he wasn't truly into. So I brought it up using Eden. My partner knows my escapades on here (he's also a reviewer on here too!). I was on Eden and off-handily commented on some collars to him. He surprised me by saying we should get a leash with a collar. Hooray!

I purchased the Lined Collar and a few days later we bough a plain black leash to go with it. The collar was meant for me to wear during play, but sometimes we put it on him as a joke. Still, it seems he likes the collar more than I do. He likes the control he has when using it on me. Funnily enough, if favorite way to use it is to keep me trapped to the bed when he wants to cuddle. He'll even fall asleep with the leash wrapped around his arm so I'm stuck (I swear, I DO snuggle him, he's just insatiable!).

Overall, I'm happy with this purchase. The collar is a bit thick for me and my motion is a bit restricted with it on, but I almost like it. I'll probably get one a little thinner as my next one.
