Make them quiet, make them scream!
If you've been curious to try a ball gag but have been too afraid to buy one, definitely go with this as your first. I've known people that get sick from the feeling of a standard ball gag in their mouth, the same going for the O-Ring gags. Because this has a smaller neck that rests between your teeth, your jaw wont feel as open and hurting. Another great product by Tantus, the Beginner Ball Gag holds up the company’s standards. Made of 100% medical grade silicone and leather straps, this is a very sturdy ball gag. The gag has a bulb shape where the part that fits into your mouth is rather large, then tapers down into a neck before hitting the base that would rest against your lips. With a smooth surface, the tongue can rest curled under the bottom with maximum comfort. The leather straps are attached to the ball gag with metal snaps and join together with Velcro. When fitting the ball gag on, the leather straps hold comfortably around the head.
Like any silicone product, silicone lubricant should not come into contact with this gag, or else it may become tacky and begin to degrade. Now granted, it IS a ball gag, but if playing with toys that require lubricant, you may still have some on your hands and accidentally transfer it to the gag when fitting it to your partner. With all good items there is usually some sort of fault, the Tantus Beginner Ball Gag is not an exception. When thinking of a ball gag, I think of something that rests itself more against teeth than past them and inside of the mouth. This gag does the job to an extent, but I did notice that I was able to still make a good deal of noise if not clenching teeth.
I have always seen Tantus as a company to be very progressive in their toys, but not to ever really push their products to hit any fetishes. The Beginner Ball Gag to me seemed to fit into a fetish group unintentionally. For those that are interested in age play, having one of the partners act as a baby or infant, the gag is perfect to act as a pacifier.

Experience
As the very first ball gag for me to own, I feel the Beginner Mouth Gag has definitely fulfilled it's purpose. It left a full feeling in my mouth which did help suppress the noise level. The gag felt comfortable in my mouth. However after a while I did feel like I had a large pacifier in my mouth. If you've never owned a ball gag before, or are interested in age play, this is a great item to buy!

Smaller Ball Gag

I love the shape of this gag, and I love that it's from Tantus, but I have a really small mouth so I can't really do anything with it in because I have to concentrate on my breathing (or else I start coughing - not good!).
Am I the only one that would purchase a shorter/slimmer version, if one became available? -
This is a pretty slim gag already, actually. It's one of the slimmer ones available. Most gags are usually 2" and up, and this one has a diameter of an inch and a half. Sometimes you can find gags with 1" balls, but it's usually a rare occurance. I do love this gag though; it's worked well for us.

(LOL) I thought that perhaps it would work for me because it's slimmer than normal and wouldn't make my jaw hurt. My jaw was fine with it, but I just ended up choking instead. :(

I've been looking at this for my first ball gag, mostly because of the silicone material as rubber tends to taste and smell pretty icky. Thanks for the review and the helpful info :)

I also thought this looks like a pacifier. But wouldn't it being a gag in the first place quality as kink?
Nice review! I like the smaller size of this, since I have extensive cosmetic dental work I'm always afraid may be damaged by larger gags.
