Hog-tied - restraints discontinued by Sportsheets - review by mistressg

Let me start by saying that I am familiar with BDSM but I am new to hog-tie sets. My honey saw this one and mentioned a few times after how fun he thought it sounded, so I got it as a surprise for him to use on me. I didn't want to get a leather set (although the red one offered on EF looks pretty), and since there were no faux-leather sets available I got this animal-friendly, Velcro set. I already own the Sportcuff wrist cuffs in black, and I these seems promising.

I couldn't really tell a difference between this set and this other Sportsheets hogtie set, but I did knwo that this one is cheaper. After reading several reviews, and re-reading the product info of both products, I decided that the difference may be the furry lining that these cuffs have.

I would say this set is good for beginners (totally new to BDSM, or just new to hogtie sets like myself). I don't think this is meant for suspension, so I wouldn't use it for that. HOWEVER, this set is really good because the cuffs can be used without the o-ring connector as just s set of wrist cuffs and/or ankle cuffs. Granted, they are escapable (as is the set itself) but they are great for light BDSM. You can clip the two cuffs to each other, like so. Or You can connect one cuff to the other, and use the other to hook on to a collar or something else.

I really like that this is not leather, that is why I got it: it's vegan-friendly! It is metal/nylon/Velcro. Since it is Velcro, it's adjustable which is great. There are two wrist cuffs, and two ankle cuffs. The Velcro makes that crunchy Velcro sound, which could be heard through a door but it's not really a "suspicious" sound like the buzzing of a vibrator. The fur lining in each of the cuffs is comfortable. All of the cuffs are the same size so there is no real way to get the wrist/ankle cuffs mixed up, and that makes things less complicated which is nice. I have very small wrists and this fits them comfortably. The cuffs are the same size as the Sportcuffs, which I also have. Those fit my partner's wrist with enough room to spare, and he his significantly larger wrists than mine. If you have any other cuffs you prefer that have clips on them, or if you have a set of ankle cuffs or wrist cuffs you are partial to, you could clip them right on to the ring.

The entire length of the cuff is about 15", which is probably about 14.5" of room to cuff someone comfortably. They are 2" wide. They are thinner than the Sportcuffs, for those of you who are familiar with them. These cuffs are less than 1/4" thick.

This set seems like it will hold up really well. Being that I have other cuffs from Sportsheets that have held up wonderfully, I am sure these will as well.

This product worked well for us. According to him, it was fun, and it looked really appealing. He thought the aesthetics alone were a turn on, and that I looked great tied up. However, we think it would be better suited for us if we had more space, since we used it on a small twin bed. We both agreed it would probably be more fun on a bigger bed, he thinks it would be fun on the floor with a lot of room. I am not sure how fun that would be for us, unless we had some sort of positioning furniture like a Liberator wedge. As it was, on the bed, we tried to put a pillow under my belly (I was laying on my stomach, with my ankles and wrist bound) to compensate for how low I was. I figure this is just because of our height difference, he is much taller than me and has long legs and thighs, so it was awkward for him to try to work around the cuffed ankles when I was to low for him to penetrate comfortably. Again, I think more pillows, or a positioning aid would help with that and it would be awesome, or even if I had a taller bed. The bed I currently have on campus is pretty low, especially given that we are both tall. One more thing he said is that because of the level I was at, the metal bits were rubbing up against his lower stomach. He said it felt strange, but added that it could be a pro or a con depending on the person.

We both agreed that it will be best to try it a few other ways when we have the means to do so, and then write a follow-up review on how well those things work.

This fabric is easy to care for. You can just wipe it down. I don't know how putting it in a washing machine would go, but I would rather just scrub it by hand. For my uses this really wouldn't get that dirty anyhow. Some quick hand washing, or wiping it off with a wet cloth, and letting it air dry would be best.

Storage is easy with this set. You can unclip everything, and put it away in a drawer if that is more convenient for you. You can just leave it all clipped together for quick use, and put it away. For this reason, it is also very travel friendly. I could easily throw this in my purse without even really having to make room for it in my bag. It really doesn't take up much space, and it's not like the material could melt or be damaged in certain places since it's fabric (and seems pretty sturdy), so that is great.

The packaging of this product is not at all discreet. Here is a photo of the front of the box. And here is the back of the box. Aside from the fact that it you can see the set inside, it says "HOG TIED" right on it.

There are no instructions, but I don't think there really needs to be, it's all very easy to understand. When you open the package, it is in pieces, like this. Here is how it looks when you connect the cuffs to the o-ring.

If you wanted to keep the plastic box to keep the set stored in, you could do that. I would much rather just keep it with my other ropes, cuffs, and BDSM stuff in a drawer for easy access and spur of the moment use.
Since the packaging is plastic, I believe you can recycle it which is a plus.
