No Good Impressions from this Crop

A lot of people get the wrong idea of what is a beginner toy. This defines "novelty" toy but should not be even considered for beginners. I would recommend something that is sturdy, will be able to take some abuse, is functional and costs a reasonable amount rather than skimping on a potentially dangerous toy that will break shortly after you begin using it.

Use

This is a plastic and faux leather riding crop with a convenient wrist loop to (hopefully) keep the crop from launching out of your hand while lightly smacking your bottom's bottom. You would presumably use this primarily on the butt, however, I would recommend this piece being used as a show piece only. This does not stand up well to its intended purpose (spanking) in even light play circumstances, and it feels very cheap in the hand. Be sure to thoroughly inspect the assembly before each session with this crop as the handle is only connected with a single rivet to the hollow plastic rod which makes this very light weight but also very prone to breaking.

Design / Craftsmanship / Size / Material / Features

This crop is rather short in length and very light weight so its obviously designed for light play as you can't truly get a good wind up with lot of force behind it.

The craftsmanship is severely lacking and the faux leather is stitched together with what appears to be light weight cotton thread that is definitely not suited to the job. The single rivet at the base of the handle (that you can see in the picture) is actually punctured through the plastic rod and is the only thing holding the rod in place. The plastic on my rod broke at the rivet as I was about to hit very lightly for the second time (a 2 on a 1-10 scale) and the crop and plastic rod flew out of the handle and across the room on the back swing. The design is cute but there is near no functionality with this crop.

Performance

The performance of this crop left a lot to be desired. I was a beginner when I got this and it broke during the second swing. For this reason I would not recommend it even for beginners as anything other than a decoration. I can easily see safety issues with this toy if the crop flies out of the handle and hits someone and the plastic rod can be very sharp where it breaks free from the rivet.

Personal comments

I would highly recommend getting a crop that does not have a plastic rod, or if the rod is plastic make sure it is solid to give more weight and security. This crop would be much more suitable as it has a much better construction.

@Kendrir, No worries, I've since gotten a few other crops and I know what to look for. One of the important things I was stressing was the hollow plastic body since that isn't what most people expect when they get a crop and it really shows the quality of the craftsmanship.

@All, Thanks for the kind words on my first article, I'm looking forward to posting reviews from many of the toys I've gotten so far and the many left yet to come.
