NOT silk rope!
I really like this rope, but I really don't think it is silk. It still has a nice feel and comes with a good blindfold. You can't beat it for the price!Published: September 21, 2011

I just got Fetish Fantasy Series Japanese silk rope, by Pipedreams, in the mail today. I was a little disappointed when I opened the box. This feels like cotton, not silk. I'm not 100% sure that it is cotton, but it doesn't feel like silk at all; however for the price, it's rope and you can't beat it.
If you are new to rope-play or just want to try it out for the first time, this is a good rope for you. If you have used it before, you should keep looking for a better rope; maybe REAL silk rope. Being this feels like cotton not silk, I am not sure how well it will hold up on chaffing. I have yet to use this for any rough play, but I have not had any issue with it.
Also, I was disappointed to see that the "metal" end caps are not metal at all. It is just silver tape and is not even on there very well. After taking it out of the box it was already peeling and it wasn't cut right since the ends don't even line up. If by chance it does come off, you will want to get some tape on the ends, so it does not unravel.
Having said that, this is a nice soft rope. It comes in a few different colors (purple, black, red and pink) and it comes with a blindfold. It's nothing special, but just a basic black blindfold that DOES keep light out really well!
I got the purple to go with my homemade under the bed restraints that I love! I had to get something to match it! The color is actually very close to what I made the restraints out of so it's perfect!
Here's a few things to keep in mind. This rope is 35 feet long. If you want longer buy 2, but you CAN NOT make it shorter! The way the rope is braided and it WILL come unraveled if you cut it.

I've used this a few times since getting it and it's great. I would love to get some more soon in different colors!

Talk about a misleading/lying branding system. Is Japanese Silk a trademark of theirs that they make out of chinese cotton?

'Silk' bondage rope listed under 'suspension kits'

Hey, Eden? I would like to respectfully suggest you remove this from the 'suspension kits' category. This type of rope is *not* safe for suspension. It's not real silk (Pipedream has confirmed it is actually a cotton/polyester blend), so can fray easily, stretch, and is just a poor idea if you don't want to risk dropping your submissive on their head.

This is a question that could easily be answered by reading the product page! If you just scan it really quickly you can see that hey, these silk ropes are made of rope! It also gives you a link explaining the care of the materials, which is this link! A lot of these questions are better left off of the forums! :)

But yeah, materials are always listed on the product's page, billybobtoy. It'll always be to the left of the product's picture, and it'll link to some basic care instructions. Though if you need more in-depth information, don't hesitate to ask.

I appreciate the note on how the ends are finished. Have you worked with silk rope before?
Right after commenting on this, I went to check my mail. A rope sample kit that includes hand-spun silk from a reliable vendor just arrived. It does have a slight 'grab' to it that's more similar to, say, a cotton shirt. Is that similar to the experience you had with this rope?
If this isn't silk, the product name is a lie.
This rope just feels like a shoe lace to me.
