Fresh pink and blue paddle by PHS International - review by leopardprint

This toy is called a paddle, but I think that "paddle" gives it too much credit-- this impact implement is certainly on the diminutive end of the paddle range. It is rather skinny and short (12 inches total-- and less than half of the total length is for impact, the rest is handle). This is somewhat of a drawback if you're hoping for a lot of oomph, but this feature makes it perfect for smaller bits! Its short length also gives the wielder more options for where slapping can occur-- or it can be packed into a purse or small travel bag for on-the-go kinksters.

The design of this paddle is fairly standard: it's got a handle that fits easily in one's palm, and then a wider "business" end. The shape is classic: reminiscent of a wooden paddle, but much thinner, lighter, and brighter! It also comes with a handy cord at the end, in case you want to hang it up or use the cord like the wrist-loop on a Wii controller and have more length to work with.

The material it's made of is smooth polyethylene, which is often a leather substitute. This is a count in its favor, since I'm vegetarian and try to play as animal-friendly as possible. It's water-resistant, tear-resistant, and fairly soft to the touch. The material seems pretty durable-- to add to the rigidity of the paddle, there's a core of some hard material (I'm guessing metal or very hard plastic) that keeps it from bending, though after some use, the core is obvious from the rest of the paddle getting knocked around. The non-cored part of the paddle is slightly bendy, but doesn't seem flimsy.

There's also a little flower/star design stitched onto the end of the piece which makes for a rougher texture and makes the impacts a bit more interesting.

This toy may be small, but it can certainly get the job done! I've been slapped with a variety of implements in my day, and this was definitely softer than a lot of uber-rigid things (ie, wooden spoons, wooden/lucite paddles), or things with holes, which sting a lot. On account of its petite dimensions and soft feel, it gives a more thuddy impact with an after-sting, if you will. The design on the pink side also adds some sting and more sensation in general when dragged across the skin. I like the rough feel of the edges and stitching on this piece, and the smooth blue side has a soft feel that I really enjoyed, as well. You tend to feel the edges with this one, since the stitching sticks out from the surface. It's an added bonus, I guess.

Anyway, it definitely didn't have the sting I expected, which isn't a bad thing, since I'm not a sting-a-holic. The size, though slightly disappointing at first, makes this little one perfect for impact play involving tit slapping, or cbt impact play-- some larger paddles are just too big for applications such as these. Remember, if you're going to do this kind of stuff, BE REALLY CAREFUL and read up on it first. Some folks don't consider the risks worthwhile-- do your homework before you do something risky.

Of course, it works fine as a smaller ass-slapper too. If you're looking for a piece that will get the whole cheek (and nothing but the cheek), you might want to find a paddle with a rounder end.

This one is easy to clean-- just wipe it off and you're done! The material is soft and somewhat supple, but not floppy, so it won't try to get away from you while you're wiping it down. Polyethylene can be cleaned using warm water and a detergent-free soap with a soft microfiber cloth.

The Fresh paddle was in very basic packaging, with no explanation, though it was labeled "Paddle" for anyone who couldn't figure that one out. The packaging did emphasize the "girlyness" of the item with bright colors and a smiling girl on it, though since the paddle is hot pink I didn't see this as terribly necessary. The packaging was clamshell plastic with cardboard inserts.

Using this on my partner was a lot of fun, since we do a fair amount of impact play combined with restraints. The size of this paddle was at first glance a detriment-- it's pretty darned small. But upon further investigation and experimentation in my own personal Kink Lab, there is empirical evidence that the Fresh Pink & Blue paddle is a fabulous little toy!

Having a small implement for impact play with is useful as a Top because it allows for longer sessions than just using one's hand, and since it's only 2.25 inches across, it can get into those hard-to-smack places! I was happy with this toy as a wielder and a recipient. Recommended.
