Japanese bondage rope - suspension kit by Doc Johnson - review by Fanny

My boyfriend and I had been experimenting with tying me up for a little while, but we'd been using a pair of novelty handcuffs. My bed, however, doesn't have a place to handcuff anything TO so I started looking for alternatives that didn't involve redecorating my room. I found this rope online, and decided to give it a try.

I got the rope in black, but the red and purple are also nice colors). This rope is SUPER long (32 feet!). The rope looks great out of the package and it's really soft. I didn't use the rope for any kind of suspension or anything, but it didn't leave any marks on my wrists after extended use.

There were, however, a couple of issues. One being that neither I nor my partner had ever used rope before. When I opened the package, I had assumed there would be some kind of instructions or suggestions on how to use it. There WERE a few pictures of knots, but nothing that helped us at all. None of the knots they showed had any indication of how they could be applied to the body or used as restraints. We ended up sort of improvising and it worked fine, but it would have been nice if there'd been some more instructions. I also noticed that the ends of the rope aren't "finished", meaning that if I threw it in the washer they would unravel. I haven't had to wash the rope yet, but when I do, I'll take the advice of other reviewers and tape the ends.

For a beginner, this rope is WAY too long. There's no WAY I could even imagine using the entire length. However, since the ends aren't finished anyway, I suppose one could just cut the rope in half and have two ropes that are still 16 ft in length, which to me is quite long enough.

Anyhow, I think this rope is great for its price and is pretty much just what I wanted. As an alternative to using handcuff type restraints, it provides a lot of flexibility and variety. While cuffs need something to be cuffed TO, rope can pretty much be looped over anything or tied to whatever you've got in your bedroom. I recommend it to anyone looking to expand their collection and try something new!
