Rubber in My Overnight

Rubberella is a 21" rubber flogger with eight wide, flat tails. She's light, thin, flexible and ridiculously versatile. She's great for medium to heavy hitters and experienced bottoms, but isn't too difficult for a beginner to learn how to use. I would not suggest her for people who enjoy light S&M, though.

Use

Rubberella is a short, light, flexible whip whose main purpose is pain play. This whip is not for the S&M beginner, the S&M light weight or anyone who prefers thud to sting. While Rubberella can be used to deliver light blows, the tips of her tails do produce quite a sting with even the gentlest of swings.

However! Rubberella is ridiculously versatile in her possible uses. Her length and flexibility make her perfect for self-flagellation, pussy whipping, breast and nipple whipping, the inner thighs. And, as I discovered by accident, she hurts exponentially more if you wet her tails.

Experienced S&M bottoms and heavy hitters will love Rubberella. Her size and durability make her perfect for travel, hikes in the woods or play parties. She's that one toy that you always have room for in the toy bag.

Design / Craftsmanship / Size / Material / Features

From the end of her rubber wrist strap to the tips of her rubber tails, Rubberella is twenty-one inches in length. She's made entirely of black neoprene rubber. She has eight flat tails that are ten inches long and a quarter inch thick. Her handle is a light, thin (about a quarter inch in diameter), flexible seven-inch cylinder, and her wrist strap is four inches long. Her tails and wrist strap are held to her handle by thin, stiff pieces of rubber that fit snugly around them.

Rubberella is durable, a little stretchy, light and extremely flexible, making her incredibly easy to wield, but not so easy to gauge on first time use. I'd suggest whipping yourself before your bottom to get a feel for how painful her sting is.

She, obviously, smells and feels like rubber (soft with that slight drag), but the smell is not overwhelming. A disappointment for me, but probably a relief for the normal person who doesn't get all gooey over the smell of basketballs and tires.

And did I mention you can take Rubberella with you anywhere? In the water, even. You can't do that with leather floggers. I can't wait to go camping next summer.

Performance

Can't I just say that Rubberella leaves me speechless? Please?

In all seriousness, this whip performs exceedingly well. She delivers an amazing sting regardless of how light or heavy the top swings her. She's light, flexible, durable, versatile. You can take her in the shower or to the pool or... Maybe to one of the BDSM camping events next year. Hmm... Now that's an idea!

She fits nicely in a purse or a pocket and is so light and thin you won't even notice the extra weight. She's easy to wield and exceptional for gaining momentum and settling into a rhythm. You can swing her slow or fast, hard or soft. You'll definitely get a reaction from your bottom.

She is a little loud and slappy. Not so much that someone will hear medium strength blows in the next room over the stereo, but enough that if someone walks up on you outdoors, they'll hear it.

Using Rubberella on oneself is insanely easy and wonderfully effective. She whips around with as much force as you want her to, doesn't get tangled in your appendages and lands the sting exactly where you aimed... with a little practice.

If you're a big leather flogger type of top, you're probably not going to like the feel of Rubberella as you wield her. But the reaction will be worth it, I'm sure.

Care and Maintenance

Rubberella is porous, being made of rubber, so you can't really disinfect her as well as some other materials. Warm water and a gentle anti-bacterial soap is all she needs to clean her up. You can wipe her down with rubbing alcohol or a 10% bleach solution, but it may result in Rubberella drying out or deteriorating faster than if you don't.

Don't worry if you spill water or silicone based lube on Rubberella. She'll be fine. Just wipe her down and start whipping.

Personal comments

Remember, bottoms... "Ow, fucker!" is not a safe word. If you are a beginner, start slow and easy and work your way up to the harder stuff. Find your comfort zone and let your top know where it is.

Tops, if you're new at this flogging business, I'd suggest trying out this whip on yourself before your bottom to get a feel for its intensity. And for goodness sake, hit the couch or something before your bottom.

Experience

When I saw Rubberella in my assignment box, I was a little disappointed. My experience with rubber whips, before this one, has been decidedly not good. The spaghetti-like rubber whip we already own is kinda too tame for my liking and way too tame for M. But then I got a good look at how Rubberella is made and thought, "Well... it'll definitely feel different."

M immediately commented on how short and light it is. He's really not fond of the feel of it in His hand. He's absolutely a big leather flogger kind of guy in that area. However, He does enjoy how it performs. It certainly gets a response from me. The "What do you mean you want me to stand still, you big mean bastard!" kind that sadists love so much.

When Rubberella's in front of me, I can't keep my hands off it. I've been whipping myself with it the entire time I've been writing this review. It's perfect for self-flagellation, which is more than I can say for any of the big leather floggers we own. They're much more difficult to use on myself.

I'm usually a thud over sting kinda girl, but my masochism is as moody as I am. I am really loving Rubberella's complete lack of thud. She's definitely one of my favorite whips.
Follow-up commentary
But I can't find her! Rubberella is so thin she slips to the bottoms of our toy drawers and gets lost for weeks at a time. I finally cleaned out our toy drawers and put Rubberella in a ziplock bag with my Sportsheets flogger so it won't get lost anymore.

Here's where I'm having trouble, though. I can't tell if my pain tolerance has gotten higher, M isn't hitting me as hard or my initial fear of how much pain it was going to cause made me make it worse in my memory. Whatever the case may be, I think I'd probably like to retract my original opinion that Rubberella isn't for the faint of heart.

I mean, in her full glory, she isn't. Her sting is sharp and fiery. But M and I have found, after a bit of trial and error, a few ways to make her not so excruciating. Which is awesome when my pain tolerance isn't matching his sadistic streak.
