This tool, originally intended for medical use (no longer, since it isn't considered hygienic) is now more commonly found in the BDSM toy bag. It is my opinion that anyone building a collection of sensory play tools should have at least one of these (I have 2 myself!)
At first glance, this simple tool can seem menacing. Well, it certainly is in the RIGHT hands. However, this is a versatile tool that can be as delicate as fingernails and as painful as a tattoo! You can heat it, and since it is stainless steel, there are no worries about it rusting if you use water. My recommendation is to have on hand both a cup of hot water and a cup of icy water.

For light play, a suggestion would be to have your partner first lie on her (or his) front and relax. Talk to your lover and caress her with one hand while re-tracing your steps with the wheel - gently now across her back, maybe up and down the insides and outsides of her arms. Ask her how it feels, notice the way the skin submits to the pins and sensations. After a little while, have her turn over so all of her delicate bits are now exposed. Interesting question. Since it's chrome plaited steel, I would assume it could possibly rust because chrome does oxidize over time.

My #1 problem with my wheels (regardless of source) is that you're pretty much on your own to find a suitable sheath - they will poke through many materials, and I've had at least one that poked through something and bent the tines.
That one does not get used in play.

Wartenberg Pinwheel: Any On The Way?

I'm literally aching to snag one of the Wartenberg Pinwheels link but they're sold out and I'd like to know when they'll be back, or maybe if theres one stray floating about the inventory from the move... I don't like the Fetish Fantasies one, it looks so cheap and less intense (a bad thing for me).
Does any of the warehouse people know if there's anymore of these buggers lying around? I just want 1! :( -

I'm curious to see if anyone's tried using a sewing tracing wheel as a less-intense alternative, or first step to using a Wartenberg pinwheel?

why would you want a less intense toy. The wheel is not all that bad.

The Wartenberg pinwheel is only as intense as you want it to be. If you lightly trace it over the skin, it isn't at all prickly, but the harder you press, the more intense it becomes.

Actually the Wartenberg Wheel is still widely used it is simply constructed of disposable materials and thrown away after use!
I dearly love my wheel though for BDSM, how did you find cleaning the thing? Personally, I think it's amazingly easy to clean thoroughly.
