Dauphine collar - collar by Leatherbeaten - review by TinyTease

The Dauphine Collar from Leatherbeaten is just gorgeous. And perfect. To elaborate on that, I'll start with the leather. Now, I've played with decent leather that holds up well but doesn't feel so great on the skin and I've played with just plain crappy leather that bleeds on your skin and leaves little leather fuzz balls wherever it goes. Leatherbeaten uses the finest leather I have had the pleasure to play with. It is incredibly soft and supple, even the matte side. When I pulled this collar out, I was absolutely breath taken at the velvety feel and pliability of of it. I can't wait to see how it feels years from now after it's been broken in even more!

While some people shy away from leather for fear of not getting it clean enough, you can actually keep leather quite clean and sterile while maintaining its original look and feel. You can clean dirt and residue off with a damp washcloth and mild anti-bacterial soap, or you can use leather care protectants. Just make sure to let it completely dry before storing away to prevent mildew.

I have the larger size collar which fits a 16.5" to a 22" neck. The band of leather is 5/8" wide, 1/10" thick and (in this larger size) 23.5" in total length. The width of the band does give it an androgynous look, suitable for both men and women. There are 6 holes on end, spaced about 5/8" apart, making this collar highly adjustable. You could, of course, punch holes in the leather to get an exact fit, but with 12 holes to chose from, I doubt there would be any need. The center of this collar has a single, oval shaped metal ring held in place with a strap of leather folded over and pinned very securely with a single rivet.

The craftmanship and quality of this collar is obvious, but even more so during rough play. This collar will hold up to hours of pulling, yanking and wear. It is ideal for light play, rough play or even just for appearance. It really is lovely on and seeing my sub in it takes my breath away.

The clasp is a quite different than most, but in a good way. On the side that touches the neck, the metal clasp is almost flush with the leather, so it doesn't rub or wear on the skin. Take the two ends of the collar and loop one of the holes through the single pin, overlapping the leather, and viola! Easy on, easy off. I think this is a great clasp for those who have a hard time with buckles and clasps - especially those with arthritis or tendinitis.

Easily transportable, you can take and wear this collar anywhere you go. I can't wait to lead my sub around at the next get together.

Since gifting my sissy boy with this collar, I have had him wear it while going out, grocery shopping, sleeping, and of course, during some of our D/s sessions. He has reported that it is incredibly comfortable to wear, even after one of our rougher nights while sleeping. There have been many times while out, he has completely forgotten he was wearing it - it's as if it has literally become a part of him. I would highly recommend this to any person looking for a simply designed, slender band collar.
