No talking! Ever fantasize about gagging your partner so that they can't talk, just moan? Or have you fantasized about being gagged and unable to utter a single word? The Sex Kitten ball gag could be the toy that fits right into your fantasies.

The Sex Kitten ball gag would likely be best for couple's play (or a triad, or more), and light-to-intermediate bdsm/kink scenes. This ball gag could be appropriate for advanced beginners and people who are already accustomed to bdsm, but who are looking for a small-to-medium gag (due to mouth/jaw size, etc.). Advanced gag users may find that this relatively smaller ball gag may not provide enough discomfort/fullness for those seeking more intense sensation.

I think this product will work well on people with small-to-average-sized mouths. For those with very small mouths, the ball may be too large to use without some jaw strain (please see Design for measurements; see also the Experience section for comments on my own measurements and how the ball gag fit for me). For those with very large mouths, or for those who are accustomed to gags, this ball may be a little too small to achieve the desired gagging effect.

A note for beginners: I would caution people who have not previously experimented with gags to be aware of the psychological impact that being gagged can have. Especially if combined with blindfolds and restraints, gagging someone can induce a profound feeling of helplessness (which is the intended effect, mind you, but can take people unawares). If you are playing with a gag in concert with restraints for the first time, make sure that you have a non-verbal safety signal (like rapping on the bedpost, or dropping a ball held in the hand) that tells that dominant partner that play needs to stop NOW. I would recommend that beginners first try introducing one element of bondage at a time separately, so that the submissive or receiving partner knows how they respond to being gagged, restrained, or blindfolded, before combining the elements. I wanted to raise this point especially since current popular media has brought bdsm and sexual experimentation into the spotlight, and the pretty pink color (and admittedly sexy aesthetics) of this gag may make it appear more "friendly" than other bdsm equipment.

The overall design and aesthetic of the Sex Kitten Ball Gag was the primary "draw" of this product for me. The look of the ball gag is quite sexy, and I can see it looking good on people of all genders (although macho-men might not go for the pink unless they're looking for a humiliation angle). The gag itself is a pink silicone ball, which is 1.75 inches in diameter.





The circumference is 5.5 inches, for those who prefer to measure things that way.



Although the ball gag is fairly smooth, there is a seam around the ball. The seam was not noticeable and did not feel rough when the ball gag was on, but it can be felt with fingertips or a tongue.



There is a short strip of black leather that runs through the ball gag and attached to O-rings on either side of the gag. These O-rings attach to straps, made with supple black leather, that secure the ball gag in place. The strap with the buckle is 5.75 inches from the O-ring to the end; the strap with the holes to adjust the gag is 13.5 inches from O-ring to the end. From tip to tip, all of the components together were about 26 inches long.



If you are trying to estimate whether this would fit you or your partner, you can tighten the buckle so that the gag has a circumference as small as 17 inches, or expand it up to a circumference of 24 inches, although at this degree of extension there is little strap left to secure the gag in place. [NOTE: The manufacturer packaging says you can adjust the ball gag from 19 inches to 24 inches.]

Taste/Smell/Texture: The silicone ball itself has virtually no smell or taste, but the oil-tanned leather straps smell (and taste) exactly like leather. Since the leather straps are only tanned/finished on one side, they do shed small black leather particles, which can get on the ball or your/your partner's face. This is a fairly common thing with leather products, however, so is not unique to this specific ball gag. The straps are surprisingly supple/soft and have some "give" to them -- I was anticipating a much stiffer leather originally, but they still seemed to be strong enough to secure the ball gag into place (I wouldn't recommend pulling on or aggressively stretching the straps, since the leather is on the softer side).

Durability: I've only had this product for 3 days, so can't speak too much to how this will hold up long-term. I think that the ball itself is quite durable, but since the leather straps are so soft, how long they'll last is an empirical question. I will post an updated review once the gag has gotten more use.

A pragmatic note: Depending on the degree to which the ball fits inside your/your partner's mouth, this gag, like many ball gags, may induce drooling -- lots of drooling.

A safety caution: This ball gag does not have a mechanism for quick release -- in order to remove the gag, you have to unbuckle it in the back. For this reason, you should should never use this product on someone who is under the influence or isn't feeling well, because you may not be able to remove the ball gag quickly enough if they are sick.

The ball gag is quite easy to use, just place the ball in your/your partner's mouth, and secure the buckle in the back at the appropriate tightness level.

Overall, this ball gag met my expectations for performance. It served its function to inhibit vocalizations and sound and was comfortable and stylish while doing so. I do wish that it had a quick-release mechanism, but am overall quite pleased with this product and look forward to using it on partners in the future!

While the ball itself is silicone, which has a high material safety rating (a 10 on EdenFantasys), you can't remove the ball from the leather, which is of a lower material safety rating (a 7 on EdenFantasys). Given the leather component, you should clean this with a damp washcloth (using mild soap on the leather if needed). You can apply toy cleaner to the silicone directly (using either toy wipes or a cloth), but I would recommend wiping it down with plain water afterward, since it will be going in someone's mouth. Regardless of how you clean it, please make sure it is completely dry before storing.

The product came in a traditional clamshell package with a cardboard insert with photos and a brief sales description on the back. There were no instructions given, although I suppose that usage could be inferred from the photo of both a man and a woman (yay dual-gender depiction!) wearing the gag at the top of the packaging.

The packaging is not in the least bit discreet and although it could be used for storage, I would much prefer to store this ball gag in a soft cloth or a drawstring toy bag.

I'm currently between partners right now, but couldn't resist the opportunity to review this sexy-looking ball gag. So -- in the name of science and all things sexy -- I decided that I'd try it out on myself (and I do believe that every good Top should know their equipment). That said, I'm not normally on the receiving end of things like ball gags, so this was a new experience for me!

I was initially pretty skeptical about getting the ball gag into my mouth, since my mouth is on the smaller side (I can generally only open my mouth so that my teeth about 1.75 inches apart), and my first tests of placing the ball gag between my teeth while sitting up seemed to confirm this skepticism. However, as I lay down and let myself relax into it, I found that the ball gag eased into place, and that the near-painful pressure in my jaw was replaced by minor discomfort. I was even able to take more of the ball into my mouth, which effectively prevented me from any vocalization. In all, this ball gag was a lot more comfortable than I initially anticipated.

Finally, since I photo-documented my trying-on of this product, I was astonished at how sexy the pink-and-black of the ball gag looked.



I need to find a partner to try this gag out on! (And this may be a "Sex Kitten" gag [oh please change the name], but I think it could be really hot to use this on a male partner; the pink color would just add to the gender-bending fun!)

Given that I would prefer for the ball gag to have a quick-release mechanism and for the ball to be removable for cleaning, I would probably peg this around 4.5 stars, but given how surprisingly sexy I found this to be, I'm giving it a full 5 stars.
