Silky Sash Restraints - Gift Wrap Sexlife

These silky restraints are an inexpensive way to find out if you like being tied up, and can be a lot of fun. I think this is the least intimidating way for anyone who wants to introduce some light BDSM into the bedroom to do so.
Published: March 26, 2011
Pros:
Inexpensive, easy to store and care for, beautiful.
Cons:
Not very long, not real silk, not as silky as more expensive versions.

Use

These two sashes are for playful restraint, bondage, or roleplay. They’re on the shorter side, as far as silk sash restraints go, so they’re mostly good for tying up wrists or ankles to the bed post, and just feeling the silky cloth glide on your skin.

Less intimidating than cuffs, and easy to care for; these are great for beginners to restraint, like me. I think they’re wonderful for anyone looking for an inexpensive and gorgeous way to tie up their partner.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

4” wide, 4‘ long, cut at an angle at the ends, and hemmed.

It feels great across your skin. It’s giving if tied a little too tight, it’s beautiful to look at, and is inexpensive. The fabric obviously isn’t really silk, (you can tell if you’ve played with real silk sashes) but it’s silky and is still nice. This a great option for people who can’t afford the really expensive real silk, or don’t want to buy the expensive, more binding sashes until they’re sure they like being tied up.

I got the red, but they also come in black. The red is very sexy. It isn’t overly bright or firetruck colored, nor is it a dark crimson or blood red. Definitely a scarlet red.

I think these will last a long time, because even with extensive pulling, resistance, and movement, mine just had some wrinkles that were easily fixed.

Performance

The smooth material and the width make it difficult to tie up, and difficult for the knots to stay. It takes practice, and you’ll probably have to double knot everything to get it to stay. If you tie too tight, it can burn the skin if rubbed a lot or tugged strongly enough. They are very comfortable and wonderful feeling if not tied too tight. These meet my expectations, and I love tying wrists up to bedposts. That’s my favorite use, but I’m sure more creative people could think of a myriad of uses for these beautiful sashes.

Care and Maintenance

I would wash these in the sink just to be safe, or on a delicate cycle in your washing machine, and I wouldn’t put them in the dryer. They may wrinkle, but the wrinkles won’t be so permanent like they would on silk, and you can carefully iron these. Just put it under an old shirt, or a baby blanket, and iron them quickly or on a lower setting through the old shirt / baby blanket. Storing them is the easiest. I just roll these up and put them in my toy box for storage. You could fold or tuck them away anywhere, really.

Packaging

They come in a box with a picture of a couple using them on the front, and another picture on the back. On the back there is also a hole so you can feel/see the sashes. It doesn’t look classy or luxurious, and actually my box was totally smashed when it came in the mail. The sashes are classy once out of the box. There’s hardly any information about the sashes (except Sportsheets says they’re for beginners), nor are there recommendations for use (except for the pictures). Both sashes come in the same box.

Personal comments

This is the least intimidating and most attractive way I can think of to introduce a little bit of light BDSM into the bedroom.

Experience

I like tying pretty bows on my thighs, or gliding the fabric across my partner's skin before tying them to the bedpost. Super fun.
Follow-up commentary
These are great. And though they're not as silky as actual silk restraints, they still feel amazing against the skin, and they're about 1/5th the cost!

They're sturdy and washable too. I'd recommend them. They're a great way to welcome some playful restraint into the bedroom and aren't intimidating at all. I think most girls would think they're fun or pretty . . . like, "Oooh! Let me tie you up!"

I love them!

Really pretty. I'd prefer real silk, but good for the price.

It's a pretty looking fabric, and silky (just not as silky as real silk - but easier to wash.)

    • What is the best material to use for a first time starter on this type of play?
    • How sure are you that you'll enjoy it? I think some of the bondage rope is supposed to me more versatile and comfy overall. I remember seeing someone post about silk sashes being a little worse than rope for some reason, something about the silk bunching up? I don't remember the details. Rope and such would probable be better for experimenting than cuffs, though. There are more uses for rope in a common vanilla household than there are for cuffs...
