This beginner ball gag is really well made. The ball itself is made of solid yet soft silicone. There is no taste and no smell, whatsoever.

Unlike may types of gags, this one fits comfortably in your mouth, as it's shaped like a flared pacifier. The ball gag itself goes about 2 inches into your mouth, so you are gagged but not actually gagging, if you know what I mean. The bulbous end and the small neck make it possible for your lips to almost close, which will help avoid jaw fatigue. Your mouth can almost relax around it, as it mostly keeps your tongue flat / immobilized but does not go back far enough to be uncomfortable.

The leather straps are thin but strong. They can be removed easily; they come off by way of sturdy metal snaps. The straps are plenty long enough to accommodate many head sizes and hair styles, even the velcro section is 5" long, so you can tighten it easily. My hair has not gotten caught in the velcro yet, thankfully. It is not a high-nap velcro, so it should not catch any clothing or hair. The gag does not show bite marks and does not retain any smell - so it's quite durable.

The gag comes in the simple standard Tantus packaging. There is care and maintenance instruction. The ball is removable, and is dishwasher safe, can be wiped with a 10% bleach solution or be boiled for 3 minutes. The leather straps can be wiped with mild cleanser, wiped with clean water then patted dry. You can store this almost anywhere, just keep the straps in a dry place.

This isn't the kinkiest looking ball gag around, for sure - but it is functional. This is a great gag to start out with, and you can be sure that it will last a long time. While it might not have the aesthetic quality of a more fetish styled gag, it is comfortable and practical; so you can use it during pretty rough play without it coming loose at all.
