So cozy I could sleep in it!

Are you ready to dive into the world of rope bondage? This rope is a great place to start! It's wonderful for users of all skill levels, is incredibly comfortable, strong, and durable. I was highly impressed by the quality of it for more intricate bondage. I've used several types of rope for Japanese rope bondage, and this type certainly takes the cake!

Use

Rope is one of the most useful pieces of bondage equipment out there. The possibilities are endless, and every bondage enthusiast's toybox (regardless of skill level) wouldn't be complete without it. You can tie simple wrist restraints from it, hogtie your lover, or create intricate harnesses, corsets, gauntlets, and several other Japanese Rope Bondage masterpieces. It's up to you how light or heavy your restraints are. This rope is extremely comfortable for just about any sort of play you can think of, and it highly surpasses rope you'd find in any hardware store, because it is made specifically for rope bondage. It may be suitable for suspension play as long as you're experienced enough to be safe about it.

Restraint is only half the fun this rope can provide. There's something incredibly sensual about tying up a lover or being tied up, yourself. Ask any bondage enthusiast and they will certainly echo this notion. This is especially true when it comes to more complex tying, like the Japanese style. You can choose to create a beautiful article of rope clothing for your lover, or type them up in a full submission way. To me, rope bondage is an art form. While one partner does all of the tying, the other stays still. There's a great level of trust play there.

(If you're buying this rope, or any rope at all, I would highly recommend grabbing a copy of Two Knotty Boys Showing You The Ropes so you can get the most out of it.)

Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

It is made of incredibly soft, tightly braided cotton, which is a great material for heavier play, as it doesn't provide much, if any, rope burn and does not rub or chafe the skin. Normal cotton rope that you can find in conventional stores is much stiffer and usually needs to be softened up before comfortable use. This rope is already conditioned for your bondage pleasure. Even though the material is very soft, it is also very durable and can hold very tight knots which can easily be untied without much force without leaving unsightly dents in the rope.

The color of the rope is very matte, unlike ropes made silk or nylon. The black is a touch off-black. While this is a great rope for all types of bondage, intricate knot-work may have less of a visual impact than it would with ropes with shiner textures. Upon close examination of the fibers, I did notice tiny specks of other colors in it that looks like it is lint. These should come off with a good washing. (I also learned that cat hair loves this rope, as well.)

The 32' length can be used in several different ways. It is a great length for restraints, rope corsets, and torso harnesses. Full body harnesses, or more intricate work, will require more length than 32'. If you plan on using this rope for different styles of bondage, especially Japanese rope bondage, be sure to pick up a couple of these at once. You can cut the rope to your desired length as needed. The 32' of rope should be enough to accommodate most types of bondage on most sized bodies.

Fresh out of the package, the rope has raw ends. These must be closed up to prevent fraying. The simplest ways to do this are to wrap electrical tape around the ends, or tie knots at them. There is also a slightly more difficult method called 'whipping' that involves sewing the ends shut. In my personal experience, electrical tape is the easiest way to go about this. It allows for the ends to be slipped in and out of knots without catching on anything.

Performance

At first I thought "Rope is rope, right?" That's not the case at all. I've been into rope bondage for quite some time now. I've used just about anything that is rope-like in nature. I've used cheap nylon cords, utility rope, ribbons, homemade rope, and nothing compares to how well this rope works. I was incredibly impressed with the strength of it, and how gentle it was on the skin. I wore this for a few hours, tugged on it a whole bunch, and not a single mark was left on my skin. I loved that my knots don't slip and it's so cozy I could sleep in it! While I'm contemplating buying silk and nylon rope for intricate knot-work, I think I'll still use this as my go-to rope because of the amazing uses it has and the overall comfort level. I may invest in a couple of each of the colors offered of this rope, actually. I'm that impressed with it.

Care and Maintenance

You will want to wash this rope, as it is absorbent. It does not come with any instructions for washing. Suggested care for the rope, according to Two Knotty Boys Showing You The Ropes, is to tie this rope into a chain braid, place it in a lingerie bag, and wash it on delicate cycle without detergents or fabric softeners. After washing, untie it and let it air dry. Because of the durable cotton material, you may be able to get away with being a little less careful with it. The only risk of washing it is to make sure your tape/knots/thread/etc. don't come off your ends and cause it to fray.

To store, I always make sure to tie my rope like this one comes packaged. I find the half-way point, fold the rope in half, double it over every foot or so until I have about 2' left, and then I wrap the remaining rope around the bundle and tuck the ends it. It makes for a very professional-looking storage solution that will keep your rope from getting tangled up all over your toybox.

Packaging

The rope comes packaged in a classic pop-open clamshell package. It does include a small insert about various types of knots, but I found it to be a lot less useful than the book I recommended, as it has one simple illustration of each type of knot. This packaging can be used for storage, but it can be a pain to coil your rope up to fit well inside of it.

Follow-up commentary
With this rope, make sure that you wrap the ends so that it doesn't unravel. I still haven't done it to mine, and it has come slightly unraveled, but it's nothing a little electrical tape won't fix. If the rope gets worn on a lot, it'll start to show a little wear and get a little fuzzy, but it's nothing that detracts from the design too much.
