Spiky Prickly Fun For Beginners

This is a wonderful thing for anyone who is new to using wartenberg wheels or is not a big fan of pain. The spikes are small and a bit blunter then other wheels are, making this the perfect thing for beginners. It also makes a good warm up to using other sharp things. Use with the included blindfold and you will be happily surprised.

Use

This wartenberg wheel is great for teasing, inflicting light pain, tickling, teasing, or warm-up play for other BDSM toys. It is the perfect thing for those who are new to pain play, wartenberg wheels, or enjoy light pain sensations. Use it with the included blindfold and your partner is in for a fun yet slightly painful surprise.

There is no fear of breaking skin from too much pressure with this (that I have found yet) as the spikes are slightly rounded and not a pinprick type of sharp. Light pressure in the right areas and you will find your partner squirming from the tickling sensation, while harder pressure will have them squirming in a pain induced pleasure begging for more.

Advanced users will find this to be a good warm-up before other wartenberg wheels, knives, nails, or other sharps. Having personally used other wheels as well, I have been able to add this in to mix things up in the middle of scenes leaving them pleasantly thrown off. Add it to your box of tools and have fun with the mix of sensations it will give.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

This wartenberg wheel is made with a red hard plastic handle and a stainless steel shaft and wheel. It is medical grade stainless so I don't foresee any potential problems for even the heaviest and most aggressive play.

The handle measures in at 3 ½” long and is 5/8” in diameter at its thickest (the base) and ½” at the point where it joins with the shaft. The shaft and wheel are an extra 2 ½” and the shaft forms a nice oval shape for you to rest a finger on. The overall length is 6” long giving you good control of it. The wheel is made up of 26 spikes (pins or teeth) that are 1/16” long and slightly rounded for a duller form of sharp.

All of this adds up to being about 8 oz, making it extremely light in your hand.

It comes with a blindfold that is made of vinyl with a thin elastic strap to hold it on you. Because of the thinness of the elastic, it may get stretched out or break with too much use or aggressive use. Should the elastic break, I would recommend just buying a new blindfold instead of trying to repair it.
    • Fits comfortably
    • Minimal
    • Will fit most people

Performance

The “performance” of it is purely in your hands. Depending on how much pressure you use and what area of the body it's used on, the feeling it gives will change. With a heavier hand it will feel pricklier, while lighter it will be ticklier. When used on sensitive areas like breasts or inner thighs, it will feel sharp with light pressure yet still tickle some. I would recommend starting out with lighter pressure and working up to find where each person's limit is and how they react.
    • Comfortable during use
    • Easy to put on / use
    • Holds up to use well

Care and Maintenance

A good anti-bacterial soap and water is the easiest way to clean it. I personally use a soft tooth brush or a nail brush for cleaning as it gets into the nooks and crannies well but isn't too abrasive. Apply a little bit of the soap to the brush and gently go over the wheel while rotating it and then the rest of it. Rinse it off thoroughly making sure to rotate the wheel as you do.

Dry it off before storing making sure to remember that the handle is hollow. You should prop it up so that the handle is raised allowing for any water that may have gotten into it to drain out preventing rusting.

For storage I would suggest a simple cloth cover for the wheel which is easy to make (message me if you have any questions on how to make it) and then a plastic bag or even a makeup brush holder for it.
    • Complex but easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

The packaging is simple yet effective. The blindfold and wheel are in their own plastic packages inside the box. The box is maybe a little bit bigger than the largest box for toothpaste.

There is really no information on the box for use, storage, cleaning, or anything else. It just has a picture of the wheel and the text is just the name of the company and “Wartenberg Wheel” making it rather obvious of what it is and not discreet at all.
    • Minimal
    • Not discreet
    • Recyclable

Personal comments

When I first saw this on the site, I was excited but hesitant at the same time. I like pain and have used other wartenberg wheels before so I know just how prickly they can get. Other wheels have sharp pointy spikes on them that with enough pressure can break the skin. The points on this wheel are shorter, more rounded tips, and a little bit more blunt. With pressure, you will get a nice line to play connect the dots with but you won't break the skin, and the red spots will go away in a matter of a couple of hours.
Follow-up commentary
I have found that after using it and then moving onto the other wartenburg wheel, when I go to use it the next time it just isn't the same.

Save your money and get the better one instead.

Looks like fun and it doesn't even take up that much space in your toy box!

I plan on taking a picture of it in my toy box as soon as I get a better image hosting site.

Sorry it ended up not working out so well for you. The metal one sold on here is fairly sturdy in my experience.
