Spur me up!

If you are looking for something different or something to just dip your toe in to the Kinky side of things, this would be a great start for you. It is intimidating, but as long as you are not irresponsible about it, you will have nothing to worry about. This feels amazing on your skin and I find it very relaxing. Must have addition to any toy box.

Use

The Wartenberg pinwheel is an item used mostly for sensory play with yourself or partner(s). Apply pressure lightly for beginners play or put a little more pressure for advanced. Any adult interested in sensory play will find this delightful and fun to use.

The wheel is very easy to use and spins with little effort. Gently wheel the spur up and down your partners or your own skin for sensory play sensations, a relaxing massage or even some doctor/nurse costume play.

Although I do not suggest use on highly sensitive areas, this piece would be excellent for play across your back, arms, inner thighs, neck, chest and breast, hips and pelvic area, and anywhere else you want some extra stimulation. You can spice up those massages, whether with oil or hot wax, and make them even more enjoyable for your partner.

It's a nice addition to anyone who wants to step their tow in to the kinkier side of things without taking the whole plunge.

Being metal and motor-less, this item can also be used in the water as well as in dry places. The only caution is to be careful with soapy hands and be sure to fully dry after every use.

The Wartenberg Pinwheel is a lovely silver colored wheel enhanced with 21 sharp spikes. The piece is made fully of metal ranking a 9 on the safety scale. Each spike is about 1/4 of an inch long and very pointed. I was worried about this item as a beginner’s piece because of the tips, though if used properly there should be no problem about drawing blood. The more pressure you use, the higher risk of the points puncturing your skin and causing bleeding.

The whole metal piece is about 7 inches long in whole; the flat metal handle being about 5.25 inches long and .25 inches thick, the spur about 1.25 inches, and the spur holding area about 1.25 inches. The spur sticks out about half an inch further than the holder and is held together by a single screw in the center. The screw is tight enough that the wheel does not fall out of place, but loose enough to give plenty of leeway to moves almost effortlessly across your skin.

The handle is flat and thick with 3 indented lines up each side. Personally, these seem to help me have a better grip so it does not slip out of my hand and cause unwanted damage. The whole item is only in two pieces, the wheel holding area being completely attached to the handle and the screw holding in the wheel.

The metal is very smooth, very hard, and very sharp at the tips. If you happen to drop this item, the only damage it may cause is to wherever you dropped it, giving the item only a couple scratches at the most.

The needle points are something to proceed with caution for any beginners. The more pressure you use, the more damage. As long as you are careful and light, beginners should have no problem with these points.

Other than the simple sensory play sensations the cool pricks give off, this has no other features. Being metal, you can however warm or cool off for additional sensations. Cause when warming to not burn yourself; do not boil unless for cleaning, just run under warm water.

Metal is phthalate-free and has firm, smooth texture with a high density and is ductile and malleable, usually having a high melting point, and retains heat well.

Performance

The pinwheel does a great job in doing what it is advertised for: sensory sensation. The wheel moves so easily and the only effort used is to actually hold the handle and lightly drag across skin. There's no drag and the wheel does not stick or cause pain in lightly dragging. Anywhere the pins touch gets a lovely poking sensation.

At first I did not think I would care for this item. I more got it for a Christmas gift if I did not like it. I've never used a pinwheel before and the points made me very iffy about purchasing. However, I was far from disappointed! I loved the tickling sensation and actually found it very relaxing. When I’m bored, I sit and roll it up and down my palms and fingers or across my arms. I also love to use my massager and then after roll the pinwheel across my muscles I just massaged.

The feeling is definitely different than other sensations I've felt. One of my favorites is actually lightly rolling it down my cheek bone. As a do, the whole side of my jaw tingles.

Although I do not suggest for highly tender areas such as nipple tips, especially for beginners, this feels great wherever I roll it.

A lot seem worried about this item drawing blood. As long as you are careful and not applying a large about of pressure you will not draw blood. The harder you press the higher the chances. Some of course may like it harder, but beginners have nothing to worry about. I myself bought this one as well as the duller one and this is the one I like more, even though it is sharper.

The sharp tips are indeed sharp, but no sharper than a thumb tack. The tip base is thicker, but the actual tips are pointed and even sometimes snag like a tack. Rolling up and down clothing the tips will snag. However, on your skin it gives an extra slight stick and pulling sensation on the pricking tingling feeling. Really is a great mix.

Care and Maintenance

When it comes to cleaning this piece, it is quite simple. You can use toy wipes and cleaner or soap and water as long as you are careful while cleaning to not jab yourself, much like with any sharp kitchen utensils.

If you wish, you can also boil or run through the dishwasher on the top shelf as long as you are safe and let cool to a safe temperature before touching with your bare hands. I would suggest tongs for removal if boiled. Being metal, you should dry thoroughly after becoming wet to avoid rusting no matter how it is it got wet.

This particular piece is a little complicated to store because of the sharp edges, but not nearly impossible. You in no way want to ruin your mood with finger jabs in your toy box or holes in your toys. You can however simple wrap it in a cloth and store to protect yourself and your other toys from the pointy tips.

Personal comments

I really was iffy about buying this because of how sharp it was. Though, I'm glad I did get it! It's not as scary as some think. Be careful with it and you won't have any worries about drawing blood.

I ended up gifting this to a friend who absolutely loves it, though I do plan on buying myself a new one!
