The package does not come with instructions. I had to look on-line for the proper way to put on and remove the ring. To remove; if you're still hard, push down on the ring to give your balls as much room as possible and push them out one at a time, then slide the ring off of your penis. Take this, and run it under some warm or cold water before you put it on for some nice temperature play. There is nothing like warming it up on a cold winter night and slipping it on. This has stood up to wash after wash with no problem. It has been left on the sink, in the shower, and put away in the drawer wet. The finish looks like it did when I first opened the package. No rust or dull spots. I believe this cock ring is here to stay.
I still wish that the ring was heavier. But that being my only complaint, I still give it 5 stars. We still use it on a regular basis.

I find it easier to wait till I am soft to remove it, but after the climax it does not take long. hehe
You can wait until you are soft. Which for me is a while, too long to keep it on. So I just push the ring down towards my balls, giving them some room. Then gently push each ball through one at a time. It does take some getting use to, but once you get the hang of it this ring works great.
If you really need to get it off cold water can help a bit.
Metal rings are probably better as a second ring.
