Stylish, but lacking Functionality
I found these cuffs a little disappointing. They're stylish and look very pretty, but I didn't feel that they served their purpose very well. They were far too flimsy.Published: May 9, 2009
Pros:
Pretty, elegant, stylish, well-made.
Cons:
Flimsy, were not functional.
Well... I'm not terribly impressed by these cuffs, but I'm more of a strictly leather gal myself. ;) While they are very pretty and rather elegant with a lovely, oriental-patterned fabric covering, I found them to be rather flimsy for my liking. I like to be able to pull and tug on my restraints and still feel that I am entirely secure in them, without the ability to set myself free even if I wanted to.
The individual parts seem to be well-made and secure, with clean stitching and good quality materials, but when fastened snugly around my wrists the cuffs didn't hold their circular shape. It's a bit difficult to explain, but... the two free ends (where you buckle the cuffs in place) sort of made a V-shape instead of remaining aligned with one another when I tugged on the D-ring. This is likely a design flaw and could be at least partially remedied by putting on a "keeper" or two to slide the ends into.
The cuffs have a soft, sleek, suede lining on the inside which is very comfortable and easy on delicate wrists, but can be a little hot and stifling if you wear them for very extended periods. They seemed to provide a kind of insulating effect for me, lol.
Overall, the cuffs are well made and tasteful, but my personal preference is for something much more rigid and sturdy. Restraints are meant to restrain and these did not deliver. They have a sort of understated beauty and are not overwhelming or intimidating in appearance. I feel that they might be good for a beginner or one who is just beginning to explore the nearly infinite realms of bondage. These are very classy, stylish, attractive cuffs, but I found them to be lacking in functionality when it came to actual bondage play.

Follow-up commentary
6 months after original review
I've tried these things a few more times since my original review and still found them to be disappointing. Thus, they've been redirected to life as a fashion accessory. I've worn them a few times to events and parties and they get a great response from people. They are very pretty, after all, but they just do not do a good job of serving their purpose. If you want real, comfortable, effective restraints, look for something more thick and sturdy.

Thank you for viewing Dragon silk wrist restraints – bondage toy review page!

Did these tear or were they just too soft for your taste?
No, they did not tear. It was just their lack of structural integrity that bothered me.
I like something to hold its shape and not shift too much.
Sorry that they turned out to be such a disappointment! Thanks for the review tho!
No problem!
Luckily, I didn't actually purchase them myself, but got to use a set that belonged to a friend! It worked out well
He got to hear an opinion on them and so do you guys!
Recently wore these as accessories at a play party and they were a smash
Sadly, I still feel that's all they're really good for...
Thanks for the review!
Thanks for sharing, you were super helpful. I think I'll steer clear of these, and stick to something more functional.
Sorry to hear they were so flimsy but I read they belonged to your friend so I guess it's better that you tested them first Instead of purchasing them and being dissapointed
thanx
