The First Impression

This crop was perfect for me. I'm a beginner to the world of flogging toys, and this is my first crop. It doesn't hurt, but it does leave a sting, and that's the part that I like about it. It was also affordable and vegan, as it does not contain leather or animal products. But for those who like leather, or heavier play, this is probably not the crop to buy.

Use

The first thing I see when I look at this crop is the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland. If she was a kinkster, she would add this crop to her collection. Although, because this crop isn't good for heavy flogging, she'd probably say "Off with its head!" This is a crop for lighter play, or for beginners. I'm a beginner, and my husband and I aren't into the heavy stuff, so this crop is perfect for us, even though its a bit cheaply made.

This crop can technically be used anywhere in the world, and for anyone. It is great for a lighter ass flogging/spanking, and it could very well be used on the back, breasts, and genitals as well. I even used in on my face, and it was pleasurable. It didn't hurt my face at all when lightly used. For the beginner it's quite easy to handle and to grip, so I would say that it's perfect for use as a starter crop.

Design / Craftsmanship / Size / Material / Features

When I recieved this crop the part with the heart cutout was bent from being in the box, and I had to hold it, bending it the other way to straighten it out. It was cheaply made and I could tell, although I'm glad I was able to fix it. I don't think it will last forever, but it might last a few years if not treated too roughly.

I love the design-the heart cutout, and the studs. I also love the length of it, as it's about a foot and a half long. That's the perfect size for me. The material is vegan, and "contains no animal products," as the paper back-board states. I liked this fact because I am an animal activist and don't like buying products that were made from or tested on animals.

There is no smell or taste from the material, as it is faux-leather. I'm not sure what the faux-leather is made from, although I'd like to find out whether there is any polyurethane in it or not; I doubt it though. I love that this crop is phthalates free. That's definitely a great feature.

The crop feels smooth and leathery, although no leather is apart of it. It's smooth and easy to grip, and the stick part of the handle is easy to use. The part of the handle that you can hang it with, however, I don't see the point of. It's hard to use.

Performance

The crop, when we used it, did not leave any marks. We do not enjoy hitting each other hard, though, but we did to an intermediate level. It worked well at leaving a small sting on my buttocks and on his, and he enjoyed the feeling a bunch. I have the feeling we'll be using this crop a lot in the near future, and in the distant future too. This crop definitely met my expectations; every single one. I knew that it would be a bit flimsy from the reviews and that it was cheaply made. I also knew that it wasn't for hardcore users, but for beginners. I was ready for it and I wanted it regardless of its cons. For me it has worked perfectly.

Care and Maintenance

Because it is small, I can store it in my lingerie drawer amongst some other personal things. I usually just put it in there, usually near the bottom so that it's covered, although I'm sure no one is interested in looking through my underwear drawer at this point in time, except for my husband.

For cleaning I've simply washed it with a dry or damp cloth. I don't think this crop will need a lot of cleaning though. It's not for insertion.

Packaging

The packaging was simply a white and red paper board that the crop was connected to that labels it as the Impressions Crop by Sportsheets. It was nothing too extraordinary or detailed, but every product needs some kind of package to label it for sale, and I guess this was good enough for that. I am definitely glad that the packaging is recyclable.

Thanks, Guys! I would like to throw in that the plastic stick part came out of the faux leather part and we have to keep putting it back in...It is super cheap...Maybe it needs Gorilla Glue to stay together now!

In my and my partners expirience it is better to start our with a crop. They are easier to control the amount of pain and area it is meant for. We actually started with the Impressions crop, and are thinking about moving up to a tickler/ flogger combo, to get more of the feel for how your body reacts to being smacked. Also maybe try other things like ticklers, they can be used with te impressions crop to lightly pass over where you were hit to add new sensations. ;)

I hope this helped, and if you need anything let me know and I will do my best to help you.

Depends on what you are going for. Floggers tend to be more thuddy depending on several factors like cut, width, material, etc, and crops more stingy. They are very different sensations and I would say a better comparison would be Crops vs Canes, in which Crops would be less evil but still pack a punch. Floggers are generally a bit more work to get down right but its really hard to mess up a Crop, just make sure you hit the meaty parts of their butt and thighs.
Personally for me, I started with floggers because I didn't feel like inflicting a lot of pain, but I feel that both are useful toys in my bag.

I am definitely a crop fan. :) I like all sorts of impact play instruments though. :)
    • We've been toying with it. I think with the right one I'd definitely be a fan.
