The Nipple Torture Device
The Butterfly nipple clamps are for advanced users only. I can’t stress that enough. They are hardcore to the max and painful to the bone. If you love nipple torture, and I mean really intense, spine-tingling, ouch-inducing torture, then this is definitely what you might be looking for. The Butterfly nipple clamps are a torture device. No joke. It is not for the faint of heart. They are far more painful than the average clamps, and I would even say that having my partner bite down on my nipples, like really hard, would be a cry of relief compared to the immense, overpowering, and torturous pain that the Butterfly clamps can give.
I’m not new to nipple clamps, and I have known of the Butterfly style clamp (sometimes called the “clover clamp”) for quite some time. This one is stallion black, flat, kind of bulky in size (it's just barely 1 1/2 inches wide), and has a glossy black chain to accentuate the intimidating nature of the clamps. Other than displaying a dark and sexy aesthetic, the chain is designed to increase tension to the nipples when simply pulling it, or adding some weight, which causes the jaws of the clamps to bite down tighter and harder on the nipples. The clamps themselves are padded with a tiny white rubbery substance. By pressing the side of the clamp, it opens it up like a spring, and you simply apply it to the nipple. The quality of it is top notch and flawless, so no complaints in that department.
Be warned--these clamps hurt like a bitch. There is no adjusting, no way to loosen the grip, and no way to relieve the pain. Once these bad boys are on, be in for quite a torturous, painful, but exhilarating experience, but only if you are ready for it and are experienced enough with nipple torture to endure it. They really bite into the nipple; at times I was almost in fear that they would tear into my nipples, make them bleed, or cause them to burst (not a pretty thought). They are SO tight; for me, they were just too tight, but they stayed secure on my nipples without slipping or falling off, felt cool to the flesh, and looked so fucking hot and stylish as I shimmied my boobies left and right, hearing the chain jingle and slap against my flesh. With a tug, and a soft tug at that, the clamps indeed bit into my nips harder. All I could scream was OUCH! And god, it sure did hurt. The padding on the pinchers didn’t help much; it was practically unnoticeable. The nips are practically suffocating by the jaws of the Butterfly clamps, finding a way to breathe, almost in desperation. A minute after wearing them, I couldn’t take it anymore. Too tight, too painful, too much. These clamps, although I love the dark, authoritative bad-ass way about them, are just not pleasurable, and didn’t get me off at all. I prefer clamps that I can adjust to my comfort zone and to tighten or loosen it where my nips, I, and my Master see fit. These are just too painful, but not in a good way...
Perhaps when I go further down in my journey of the hardcore and the perverted, just maybe these clamps will fit my style. Experience
I found that the best way to latch these clamps onto your nips is by placing them on horizontally, but I think this is a matter of preference and the actual size of your nipples. I have pretty tiny ones; placing them on horizontally worked best for me, but I could see it working just fine on larger nips as well. With these clamps, it is not so much the size of the nips that determines whether or not these are best for you, but your pain tolerance. If it is ridiculously high, and you absolutely love pain as your nourishment and your poison, you just might get a kick out of these babies, but if not, stay away from them.
As mentioned, these clamps were designed as a torture device with no way to loosen or adjust the tightness and relieve the pain. It widens the clamp by just a tiny bit, but didn’t necessarily make the clamps lighter, softer, or easier on the nips, so don’t count on it. But it’s worth a shot. The best advice I can give is to work your way up to using these clamps by using less intimidating clamps, such as the Adjustable Clamp by Spartacus or the Bull Nose Nipple Jewelry by California Exotic (my personal favorite). I can’t at all recommend these for the beginner, not even for the immediate user.

I’d give them five stars for just the sheer top-notch quality and functionality of the product, but my personal rating went down to three because these clamps are just not my thing, for now. My little nips are just not into this kind of pain and torture. I get off just fine from having them bitten by teeth, mouth fucked, tongue slapped, and finger pinched. That’s not to say that I am going to completely ignore my desire to try the Butterfly clamps again. When I’m ready, the torture is on, and when that time comes, I will embrace it, love it, and surrender to it completely.

Informative and entertaining review Foxxy. These 'Japanese Clover' type nipple clamps have a reputation for being hardcore as your review attests too. I'm not a heavy pain gal either and it's nice have some advice that will make me stay away from these!

Maybe you should try closing them around your nipples slowly so that it doesn't hurt as much. It might make your experience with them better and less torturous. I personally love these clamps - they're so lovely.
Sir- I have ALWAYS tried closing them around my nipples slowly, and still it doesn't really do much for me, but I'm glad you enjoy them though! I'm starting to like them a little bit better now that i've tried them a couple of times, but I don't find them mindblowing, just okay.
Someone suggested on another site using a Qtip or something similar to keep them more open. Maybe if you broke a Qtip to the right size and stuck it horizontal between the pincher ends it would help? Might take some trial and error to get the perfect size. I have these too and they are intense, but mine don't close right because the chain O-ring gets in the way of the bottom section of the clamps. Didn't get them from Eden though.

I don't see how you can call these intense at all. I got some similar and they were a joke until I took the rubber pad things out and bent the little "ears" that hold the pads in place into spikes. Even then, they only really get intense with a lot of resistance/weight.
My favorite nipple clips are various kinds of electronics clips - the kind that are metal and have teeth. The most intense of these I have are similar to what you might find on cheap jumper cables.
And YES - this is true (any challenge, look me up and I will send pix).
