Very satisfying...pretty too
The Impressions crop by Sportsheets is an inexpensive crop made of faux leather. I recommend this crop for beginners because of the ease of control and the "loop" at the end of the handle. Being a beginner, the chances of this flying out of your hand while preparing to slap are pretty high, so this loop will prevent that, as it will wrap around your wrist and will prevent this baby from going anywhere. So not only does it have a safety feature, but it is REALLY pretty too.Published: January 17, 2011
Pros:
Inexpensive, pretty
Cons:
Faux leather
So I have never experienced crop play before. When I saw this crop, the price was right and after all, I just wanted to try it out. I had planned on buying a more expensive crop after trying this as I really wasn't expecting much based on the price. I even had a "better" crop picked out for when this one broke on me or just was a bad quality nightmare. Overall, I was very impressed with the quality of this, especially given the EXTREMELY low price tag.
I got this in the mail and opened the box immediately. The crop came attached in two places to a white cardboard piece that had some very basic information on the front and back. It also had a spot on top where it could hang, possibly in a sex store. The crop top is made of a black phthalate free faux leather with three metal studs and the handle has one metal stud and is made of the same material, with a plastic rod connecting the two. This makes for a very flexible crop, so keep this in mind when it comes to performance, if you like flexibility then you will like this. For something more rigid, go with a more expensive crop. There is no smell or taste to this material at all. Directly beneath the handle is an attached loop that can be put around your wrist while in use, this was very comfortable for me and is how I used this. For some this could get annoying, but I did find that if I didn't put it around my wrist that it did get in the way. It could be used either way though. The top part is faux leather wrapped around a red piece of plastic which is shown through a heart cutout. This is called the "impressions" crop because it is supposed to make an impression of a heart on the skin. I haven't been able to do this, and I'm not sure it is even possible, but I will keep trying.
This is great for role play, being dominatrix woman (haha), or just anyone who wants to experience some light or heavy pain (a hard beating is also a nice way to describe it). It makes a great costume prop too.
This crop is not very long at all. With the loop at the end it measures in at 23 inches long and the crop part is 2 inches wide. This makes it a great beginners crop because it is easy to control. This crop, depending on how it is used can give off a lot of pain or very little pain. Basically, the more fabric you use to hit, the more pain or sting will be given off. Of course the more force you use, the more pain or sting will be inflicted, as with anything. I noticed it did get stingy when I just hit with the tip or corner of the top, which I personally enjoyed. This is a great beginner's crop not only because of the price but also the ease of use and control. The more intermediate to advanced users might need something with a little more "oomph" and probably some length too. For me, being a beginner, I really do love it. It was very satisfying to use this on my husband, as he did enjoy this just as much, or more, than I did. I can see this being great for both heavy and light play and seems to be holding up so far.
Cleaning is very easy and can be done with a warm washcloth and soap, hang to dry.

Well...I can now officially say that I hate this. The strap just split and came right off. Since I loved the strap and only feel comfortable using it with the strap I can't even use it anymore. Trash can here we come!! What a shame...

what is better for just starting out, and not very painful to play with?

Quote: what is better for just starting out, and not very painful to play with?In my and my partners expirience it is better to start our with a crop. They are easier to control the amount of pain and area it is meant for. We actually started with the Impressions crop, and are thinking about moving up to a tickler/ flogger combo, to get more of the feel for how your body reacts to being smacked. Also maybe try other things like ticklers, they can be used with te impressions crop to lightly pass over where you were hit to add new sensations. ;)
I hope this helped, and if you need anything let me know and I will do my best to help you. -
Quote: what is better for just starting out, and not very painful to play with?Depends on what you are going for. Floggers tend to be more thuddy depending on several factors like cut, width, material, etc, and crops more stingy. They are very different sensations and I would say a better comparison would be Crops vs Canes, in which Crops would be less evil but still pack a punch. Floggers are generally a bit more work to get down right but its really hard to mess up a Crop, just make sure you hit the meaty parts of their butt and thighs.
Personally for me, I started with floggers because I didn't feel like inflicting a lot of pain, but I feel that both are useful toys in my bag.

We've been toying with it. I think with the right one I'd definitely be a fan.

Thank you for viewing Impressions crop – bondage toy review page!

I just reviewed this too! Mine broke though.
@ BBW- That stinks! I want to try other ones. Can't beat the price point though.
Great review! I might have to invest in one of these.
The wrist loop reminds me of the Wii remotes. Hopefully no one breaks their TVs with these. Great review!
Nice review!
Thanks for the review!
And so the saga of the crop fail continues
Yeah...this stinks. I was so upset. Its a shame, its really nice and has a lot of potential....if only it was better made.
I had this on my wishlist but maybe I should rethink that. Thanks for the review.
@liilii080- Its great for finding out if you like this kind of toy, but won't last long. There are better made ones that are a little more expensive...I would recommend going that way. Its a shame though, because it is REALLY cute.
Good review!
thanks for the review

Great review, thank you!
So sad that it broke on you. Thanks for the review though!
I just bought this without having read reviews. Woops. I needed something right away for a scene a lover wants to do tomorrow, though and the price was right compared to the other ones I was looking at. I hope it at least lasts through our fun and games this time... Will likely review it afterwards.
Thanks for the review!
