Whip it and whip it good!

The Rubber Whip is a good value option for those interested in getting their feet wet with pain. This whip won't make you scream, but it'll let you get a feel of what you like. It will be a stepping stone for most.

Use

All right, I might claim myself a vibrator snob, but I won't say that when it comes to the BDSM world. Recently, I started looking into crops, ticklers, and whips. The rubber whip captured my interest and I decided to give it a go. In my experience, I think this whip is more oriented to beginners to mid level users. Those who really want to go at it and feel the pain might look into other, more heavy duty whips like those made of leather.

Given its price, I consider this a pretty decent value. The whip can be that first whip for couples looking into feeling the sting of a whip but don't want anything too intimidating. The colors of the whip are also disarming in that way. Other than using it as a whip, you can drag the bristles along the skin as a teaser.

The Rubber Whip is just that; a plastic handle with rubber floggers/bristles. It is not discreet. And if you're a traveling type, I'd recommend getting the smaller versions of this toy (which are also available on Eden).

Design / Craftsmanship / Size / Material / Features

The craftsmanship for the rubber whip is basic and nothing to write home about. The handle consists of a plastic cylinder between two black plastic balls. The plastic cylinder is clear and you can see the rubber bristles inside it. The ball closest to the whip portion is solidly attached to the plastic cylinder. The ball on the other end of the whip is not adhered to the cylinder. There's a small gap of space between the cylinder and the ball. It bothers me a little because if you hold the whip by just that ball the rest of the handle will sag some. I wish the handle were harder and more absolute.

Still, that is a very minor, and probably aesthetic, issue. The handle is sturdy; you can swing this whip hard and it will do the job without noticeable wear. The bristles can stretch individually quite a bit before worrying about breakage. Be careful when messing with the rubber bristles. They are like rubberbands and can snap on your skin with quite a sting. Again, given the price, the whip is a good value and decent quality. It'll last a couple long enough until they decide to upgrade to a better quality whip.

Compared to Rubber Tickler

The Rubber Whip is the largest whip in te series offered by Sportsheets. It is 22 inches long in total. There was a bit of a smell to it when we first got it, most likely due to the rubber. The smell is factory-like, almost like a cleaner. The smell is light and fades as the whip airs out. The toy also has a small handle so it can be hung on a hook.

Performance

Given the targeted audience for this whip (beginners to some intermediates), this whip fits the niche. The whip can be used first for teasing and then for actual whipping. Testing it in the air will reward you with the sound of air cutting. This alone is fun and entertaining.

I also found that the very tips of the falls (I learned the word!) have a light sting to them in particular. When using this as a whip, I recommend putting on some music or having understanding roommates. The whip is fairly loud at a minimum of 3 Bees if applied with some first. It will be heard beyond a closed door if there is no noise covering it up.

Now unto the important part: how does it feel? This is my first whip, so I will include a comparison in my follow up when I have acquired a couple of more. I think this whip is on the lighter end of pain. If delivered with some force, it will deliver a stinging blow and the sting will last for a couple of minutes afterward. If you keep hitting the same location, the area will become red. If you do a quick session with this toy, it would be very difficult to create a lot of pain. However, this makes this whip a great option for light play and warming up.

This whip might have been easier to use if the handle was longer. Then you could have a nicer arc. Either way, it's a good, light whip.

Care and Maintenance

The rubber whip is easy to care for. It should be able to undergo uses without much care. The falls can get tangled, so it's best to finger comb it after each use. If fluids ever get on the falls, you can clean it with a wet wipe or water with a mild soap. If traveling with it or going long periods between use, I recommend rubber banding the falls together to keep them from tangling.

The whip has a fabric loop at the base of the handle. You can easily hang it up in the closet so long as there are no nosy housemates.

Packaging

There was no packaging to the whip. It had a tag attached to the loop by Sportsheets. The tag features a woman in a bra brandishing the whip. Because it has no packaging, I'd open the shipping box in private.

Experience

As I said, this is our first whip. Before it, we have been using my partner's hand (which is still the favorite). We will use the whip occasionally as a warm up, but it is by no means a star. In fact, I'm already looking for something else to better fit our needs. However, I have no remorse buying this item; it's a good value, is fun to use, and it was a valuable learning experience.
