Etherea silk cuffs - wrist cuffs by LELO - review by NuMe

The Etherea Silk Cuffs are wonderful for a playful night of light bondage. These are not meant for heavy duty BDSM and will not hold up to rough play. They do work well for wrists (if your wrists are large enough) or ankles and can even be used as a blindfold. Though they don't block out all light as such. When we were using them I jokingly used one on my husband as a ball sling by placing the cuffs underneath and tying a bow at the top; it actually worked pretty good and looked kind of hot. If your wrists are large enough they can even be worn as accessories to your favorite lingerie, by wrapping them around and tying them in a pretty bow.

These cuffs are extremely well made. The stitch work is excellently done and with proper care these should last for a very long time. Each cuff has the softest suede on one side, and extremely soft silk with a floral pattern on the other. Either side can be worn against the skin, and both are quite comfortable. I have to say I've never felt suede or silk that was this soft. They just feel so luxurious! On the suede side there are slits where the silk ribbons run through and a small tags at the end of one with the work LELO on it. Each cuff is 8 1/2 inches long by 2 1/2 inches wide. The ribbons are 1 inch wide and 59 inches long, which is definitely long enough to tie them together or even to a headboard. After my husband put them on me, he tied them to our under-bed restraint system.

These cuffs come in black, purple, or red. I chose the red, a gorgeous shade of ruby red.

The only problem I had was that I cannot wear the cuffs on my wrists like they look in the picture. I have small wrists and no matter what I tried the cuffs overlap. At first I found it difficult to tie them, but my husband figured out a way to do it by wrapping the ribbons around a second time and then knotting it, which helped them to fit better and stay secured.

Once my husband figured out a way for these to work with my small wrists they worked very nicely. Of course I didn't fight against them very much. I don't think they would hold up well for that and probably could break free if I had wanted to, which I didn't. But I wasn't looking for something that could hold me no matter what. I wanted something that was meant more for soft sensuous restraint and for that purpose these are perfect. I absolutely love these cuffs! I just wish I could have worn them as accessories for my wrists with pretty bows tied at the top.

Another drawback to these cuffs is that you have to be extremely careful with keeping them clean. The only cleaning instructions Lelo gives is that they have to be dry cleaned. I already told my hubby if that happens he gets to take them to the cleaners. You really can't damp wipe these because both silk and suede stain easily, even from water. So I just figure these will not be used whenever we're playing with oils, or any other cream or liquid items that could cause staining.

As with all Lelo items, these come in packaging that is gift worthy. The outer box is shiny black cardboard with a picture of the cuffs tied in a bow, and the word Lelo, on the cover. Inside is a nice black, textured, heavy cardboard box, similar to a jewelry box. When you take the top off, you find the cuffs wrapped in very nice tissue. The inner box works very well for storing the cuffs when they're not in use. It is very discreet, so you can leave it out on the dresser and nobody would know what's inside.

Overall I do love these and will use them often. I just wish they had been a bit smaller. But then they probably wouldn't have worked well for ankle restraints. I also wish they would have been easier to clean, but considering the materials that probably wouldn't have been possible. In spite of these little drawbacks, I still love them enough to give them 5 stars.
