The Fetish Fantasy series Professional Police Handcuffs are meant for those who are serious about their bondage and prefer to work without a quick release latch. These are heavy duty cuffs and are NOT meant for comfort, if done up tightly they will dig in, and are very capable of leaving bruising. These cuffs are not big enough to be used as ankle cuffs (unless you have REALLY tiny ankles), they are too heavy to be worn as jewelry, but they could make a great accessory to any naughty cop costume.

It is important to keep in mind that these should not be used for suspension, they were not designed for this and could seriously injure the person being restrained if their full body weight was put on these cuffs.

These cuffs are designed to be sturdy and durable. They are made of some type of nondescript metal, so just about the only thing I can say about the material is that it is phthalates free and retains heat well. Metal is also sterilizable so if you are interested in any type of blood play, or any other play that could result in blood or fluid transfer, you are good to go.

The craftsmanship of these cuffs could definitely have been improved. The edges of both the interior and exterior of the cuffs are rough making them unnecessarily brutal. In bondage, hand cuffs are certainly not meant to be used as a gentle restraint, they are very hard and have the tendency to leave marks, however the rough edges cause not only tenderness and possible bruising but also chafing. On top of that both of the adjustable arms stick a little during rotation. On one cuff this is not a serious issue as it occurs when fully open, however on the second cuff it is very sticky when closing which can cause it to be closed too far very quickly if you are not careful. I would expect this type of craftsmanship for lower priced items, but for a pair of metal cuffs in this price range I expect far more (for instance the use of a file in the production process).

The other issue I have is that because I am not sure what type of metal these cuffs are composed of, I worry about the key. The cuffs are thick and sturdy, they will not bend or break, however the keys are tiny, and seem like they could be bent easily if turned too far the wrong way while trying to unlock the cuffs. Normally this would be an issue because you would have an easy release latch, but without that latch you run the risk of being unable to release the cuffs if your key is bent. LUCKILY, two keys are provided with the cuffs so this should not be an issue unless you have lost, or already bent the first key.

Because handcuffs are adjustable they should ideally fit everybody, and will definitely fit the average user, however I have a sneaking suspicion that those who have very large wrists could have difficulty with these.

These cuffs are solidly constructed, they hold up to very strenuous use. There is pretty much no chance that they are going to break or give at all during use. Because of the lack of quick release mechanism you can be relatively certain that your partner will not be able to escape your loving attention.

These cuffs are fairly easy to clean, they can be washed with simple soap and water or toy cleaner. To sterilized you can opt for cleaning with a 10% bleach solution, throwing in the top rack of the dishwasher, or boiling. Because there are so many small partially enclosed areas and joints on these cuffs, it is very important that however you clean them, you make sure they are thoroughly dried and left somewhere to air out. If you are not careful about drying your cuffs, you can end up with rust forming around the joints and inside the enclosed areas such as the keyhole.

I would also suggest storing these in a small pouch or box along with the keys. The last thing you want is to lose your keys and have to take a trip to Emerg in order to have them removed.

The Professional Police Cuffs came in a small cardboard box, It is just large enough to fit the cuffs and keys and makes for suitable storage unless you are looking for something discreet. The box is not very informative, but with cuffs... well there is really not a whole lot to figure out. The only thing I would have appreciated seeing on the box, would have been the type of metal used in construction.

If you do decide to toss the box for alternative storage, rest assured that it is recyclable.

When using these cuffs, I had difficulty adjusting them to fit properly without hurting myself or my partner. I can not say for sure that every pair of cuffs will have problems with the joints but those that do can be quite frustrating. My wrists were also slightly redder from the rough interior chafing them then they ought to have been. If you are taking the secretive approach to your relationship with kink, you probably don't want tell tale red rings on your wrists.
