The Tool by Doc Johnson is the ideal medium-sized dildo to use anally for beginners and intermediate anal users. A moderate size, it has a beautifully tapered head that allows for smoother, easier penetration as opposed to a dildo with a rounded head. The base is nearly two inches in diameter, which makes it completely anal-safe and doubles as an easily graspable handle. Although the shaft is entirely straight with no curve, I've found it immensely pleasurable anally. The smooth texture and the softness of the silicone make this dildo perfect for thrusting. Also, I've been able to derive wonderful P-spot stimulation with this toy, albeit body position is an important factor. Using the Tool for solo anal play, which is what I've exclusively done, results in sensual, voluptuous satisfaction.

As part of Doc Johnson's new Platinum Premium Silicone line, the Tool is made of platinum medical-grade silicone, making it 100% safe to use in your body, whether vaginally or anally. This silicone dildo is incredibly attractive with a sparkly light-blue surface (also available in purple). Being platinum silicone, the Tool has no scent. The quality of the silicone is also superb. It's very smooth, though not as silky smooth as Tantus' Silk line. It has no bumps, ridges, or unwanted texture, making it glide in and out smoothly when thrusting. The silicone is also quite soft, making this non-realistic dildo quite flexible. Flexibility is an excellent attribute for an anal dildo, as it will ensure that you don't accidentally harm yourself, conforming to the curves of the inner depths. However, it is not so pliable like jelly as to make insertion difficult. It retains its form very well without being floppy, remaining erect and rigid when thrusting fast. It possesses the ideal flexibility for a toy inserted into such a tight orifice.

This cylindrical dildo is 7 inches long with 6 inches insertable and is 1.38 inches in diameter, which is a moderate size in between the 1.25 inch and 1.5 inch diameter range. The Tool is excellent for anal users familiar with the 1.25 inch diameter range and who want to try something larger. I highly recommend this toy for those who feel a 1.5 inch dildo might be a little too thick (going from 1.25 to 1.5 is a huge leap). The best thing about the Tool is that it has a nicely tapered head, which makes insertion incredibly easy for a toy this size. Just dab some of your favorite water-based lube onto the head and the shaft and penetrate away! However, I highly recommend warming up a little bit prior to using this dildo.

Once inside the bum, the Tool feels amazing. A sensational feeling of fullness is the first thing you feel. Thrusting is easy since the material is so smooth, and since it's quite pliable the Tool adjusts easily to the curves of the rectum. As I mentioned before, the flared base acts as a wonderful handle. Unlike a lot of other toys with flared bases that are hard to grip properly, the base on the Tool is easy to hold onto. The bottom is completely flat, allowing one to place this dildo on a flat surface. However, it can't be ridden properly without holding it, unfortunately.

Although the Tool does not have a realistic look, it still isn't discreet. Its use is quite evident. As another reviewer mentioned, it almost looks like a giant crayon. To me it kind of looks like a vibrant stake.

The greatest feature of this toy is the tapered head. Toys such as the Tantus Silk Large have such a large, bold head that makes insertion unnecessarily difficult and even painful. With the Tool's narrow, tapered head, insertion is a comfortably pleasurable experience. What's also great about the narrow head is that once you begin thrusting by removing the dildo all the way out, it glides back in without resistance from the sphincters.

Although I mentioned that the silicone is quite flexible and conforms well once inside, inserting the entire dildo is something I have not been able to accomplish. Using the doggy-style position, I was able to insert all but one inch of the shaft (excluding the base). However, pleasure isn't necessarily entirely derived from how deep this dildo can go in, but rather by how delicately it slides in and out. The high quality silicone feels filling yet not weighty inside the rear. Its presence takes over all of your senses and brings complete sexual attention to your butt. To say it feels awesome is quite an understatement.

As this dildo is silicone, it retains body heat quite well and quickly warms up to your temperature. Placing it in warm water for fifteen minutes prior is an excellent idea for a refreshing feeling inside.

Caring for this toy is ridiculously easy. All you have to do is wash it with antibacterial soap and hot water, and you're left with a clean toy. If you choose you can also sterilize it by boiling it or bleaching it, neither of which I've tried. Storing it inside its original packaging isn't ideal, although you can keep it in its plastic clamshell "case" if you wish. For me, keeping it in a Ziploc bag is easier and doesn't take up as much space if you store it in a container with other toys.

In regards to lube, any water-based lube is compatible. Personally, I've used Cal Exotics Anal Lube and Maximus with this toy. They both work great, though I highly recommend the slick, long-lasting feel of Maximus. Do NOT use silicone lube under any circumstances with this toy or any other silicone toys. Although I have tried using silicone lube with the Tool without any adverse chemical reactions, it's simply not worth the potential damage of such a wonderful toy. Over time even a compatible silicone lube could damage the smooth surface of the dildo, leaving indentations or a rough texture on the surface. It isn't worth the risk, and I personally believe that Maximus works better than silicone lube anyway.

The Tool is packaged in a standard paperboard box with an exposed front to proudly showcase this attractive dildo, the toy itself contained within a plastic clamshell case. Although it doesn't come with any instructions, it does include a small booklet that displays Doc Johnson's other silicone toys; a small catalog of sorts. The back of the box has information in regards to the material of the toy in several different languages. Honestly, the packaging is quite appealing to the eyes and easy to open. It is not at all ideal to use its original packaging as a storage box, but it would make a nice gift for your sexually fixated friend.

This toy is currently my favorite dildo. I've used it around ten times so far since I got it two months ago. I purchased it knowing I'd like it a lot.
