A shimmery dreamboat in silicone.

If you've never tried a Tantus dildo because of the high price-point, treat yourself to the affordable and amazing Vamp. It's the best silicone on the market, in a medium size and shape that offers good g-spot stimulation and is anal-safe and harness-compatible. It's cheaper than many inferior toys, and offers plenty of possibilities with options for temperature play, gender play, partner and solo use, and vaginal or anal use. When you want one dildo that does it all, the Vamp is sure to please.

Use

The Vamp is my all-star, all-around favorite dildo. It's got a flared head for decent g-spot action, a flared base for harness use or safe anal play, enough length and girth to satisfy most folks, and a semi-realistic design in a pretty shimmer color that's non-threatening and not too heavily gendered.

I like to warm up with a clit vibe and some porn before I bring out the Vamp. Then I slide it in, clench around it to get a feel for that wonderful fullness, and start thrusting like a madwoman. My g-spot loves this, my vagina rejoices, orgasms commence. Really. For me, it's that easy.

Since the silicone is firm but with some give, it's easy to insert and thrust and there's little worry of smashing your bits or the discomfort that can come with more rigid toys. The material is also sterilizable, which makes it safe to share between partners and to use anally. It can be warmed in a bowl of hot water or cooled in ice water or the refrigerator for temperature play, and retains temperature very well. This plus the shimmer makes it an easy choice for any sexy roleplay you might have in mind.

Material / Texture

I don't think anyone's silicone quite matches the standard set by Tantus. It's firm with just enough give, flexible enough to be comfortable for most bodies, completely non-porous, sterilizable, compatible with any non-silicone lube, has minimal drag, and is generally sexy as hell. The Vamp in particular has a lovely pearl-white sheen with just enough of a pinky-beige tone not to seem TOO deathly, and looks as pretty as a picture in the sun. The smoothness of the material and minimal texture mean it's very beginner-friendly, so long as you can handle the size.

Since it's silicone, I would not recommend using any silicone lubricant as it could damage the material and make it sticky or tacky. Instead, I like to use a body-friendly water-bused lube. If you just have to try out your favorite silicone formula with it, rub a little on the base of the toy to see if it has any adverse reaction.

Design / Shape / Size

The Vamp is not discreet at all, but I won't hold that against it. Since it has no moving parts, it's perfectly suited to travel and storage.

Ultra-realistic dildos tend to creep me out--I'm more a fantasy girl. I love toys shaped like animals and rocket ships and curlicues. The Vamp, however, is a lovely semi-realistic toy that's not too far off from your average penis but is still stylized with its exaggerated head and pearly color. It's also a fun choice for gender play, since the color reads as "girly" but the shape is a more traditional cock.

I do wish that the base were thicker so as to be easier to grasp for thrusting and more stable in a harness. It's wide enough for safe anal play, but with some more depth I think I'd love the Vamp even more.

Performance

The Vamp is a beautiful semi-realistic toy just a bit larger than your average real-life specimen. The flared base makes it a great choice for harness play, though since the base is fairly thin it might droop or not offer as much control as you want. It is anal-friendly, though the flared head it a bit large for me to use comfortably.

That same flared head makes it a goo g-spotter, though if you require a very hard material or pinpoint stimulation it might not impress. I love the way it feels inside, with just enough give in the material to be comfortable and plenty of girth for a full feeling. Just sitting and clenching my kegel muscles feels great, though that flare is made to be thrusted--it teases my g-spot in an absolutely delicious way, and paired with steady vibrations on my clit is a filling and fulfilling way to get off.

I do need some warm-up, or at least a lot of lube, to comfortably accept the Vamp. The flare tends to get jammed on my pubic bone if I'm too tense or not warmed-up, which can be a bit painful. For this reason it might not be a good option for absolute beginners or sexually inexperienced folks, and is certainly more suited to at least an intermediate anal player.

Care and Maintenance

All Tantus toys are made using 100% Platinum silicone, which can be washed in the sink or top rack of the dishwasher (without soap,) or sterilized by boiling or by rinsing in a 10% bleach solution, leaving overnight, then washing with hot water. It's very easy to take care of this material, but it attracts and clings to lint, hair, and dust bunnies like crazy and should be stored in a clean box or plastic bag to prevent needing to wipe off fuzzies every time you want to use it.

Since its sterilizable, with proper care it can be shared between partners and is an excellent choice, combined with the flared base, for anal sex. The material will pick up some butt smells, but a trip through the dishwasher or sterilization with bleach will remove any lingering smells. 100% silicone is completely non-porous and hypoallergenic.

Packaging

The Vamp comes in a decent clear plastic box with a fitted liner. It's a bit big for the toy, so probably not ideal for storage as it would take up more space than necessary, but it's functional. The packaging is not at all sexual, just the clear with some red, black, and white lettering. It lists some features of Tantus's excellent silicone formulation and looks okay as sex-toy-packaging goes.

    • Recyclable
