The Futurotic Flexi Dong is a fairly realistically shaped, but not realistically colored, dildo. It can be used for solo masturbation or for partnered play. It is designed to be used either by itself or with a harness.

The Flexi Dong has a well defined head and over sized "veins" which add extra stimulation during penetration. Because of its large base, it is safe for anal use as well as vaginal use. However, because of the low safety rating of its material, you should cover it with a condom for anal use.

The main feature of the Flexi Dong is its ability to be bent into different angles to create the right shape to suit almost any body. This feature makes g-spot/p-spot stimulation easier. It also allows for different angles of penetration creating different sensations against your clit and your vaginal lips.

Because it has no battery operated or electrical parts, the Flexi Dong is safe to use in or around water. However, the chlorine in a pool or hot tub might damage the material it is made of.

The package insert makes the claim that the Flexi Dong is made of “Hygienically Superior Futurotic Material”. However, EF rates Futurotic at only a 2 out of 10 in terms of material safety. Futurotic is a thermal plastic elastomer (a mixture of PVC and silicone). It is extremely porous and those pores make great hiding places for bacteria.

Because the material is so porous, you should clean this toy BOTH before and after each use by washing it with warm water and mild soap (preferably anti-bacterial) or an anti-bacterial toy cleanser. Make sure to rinse thoroughly. It is NOT possible to sterilize this toy. It is highly recommended that because of the difficulty of keeping bacteria from forming on this type of material that you should cover it with a condom every time you use it.

Use a condom with a sex toy??? Yes. I know it can't make you pregnant, but it can make you sick. If, for whatever reason, you choose not to use a condom, you will need to be extremely diligent about cleaning this toy, and you should never share it. Also, unless you use a condom, you should never use it in more than one orifice. In other words, if you want to use it anally, you can ONLY use it anally, not vaginally.

The "skin" of the Flexi Dong does feel fairly realistic. It feels as if there are two different layers of material that make up the toy. The outer layer is softer than the softest skin I have ever felt. It is also quite squishy. The inner layer is firmer and is similar to a stiff cock. It doesn't actually feel like a real penis, but it's closer than any other toy that I've handled.

The Futurotic material does have a slight chemical scent to it, but it does not seem very strong and may fade with use. I did not find the smell offensive, merely chemically. I did not taste test this toy. Because of the low safety rating of the material, I did not feel comfortable putting it in my mouth.

After I had handled the Flexi Dong for a while, I did notice that it left a somewhat unpleasant sticky film on my hands. Immediately after cleaning the toy, I no longer felt that sticky film. However, after cleaning and being left to air dry, the sticky film returned.

During use the wrinkly texture of the shaft did create a noticeable pulling sensation on the lips of my vulva. However, because of the softness of the toy, once in my vagina, the texture was no longer noticeable.

Other than being purple (or pink), the Flexi Dong is a fairly realistically shaped dildo. The head forms a fairly average “mushroom” shape, and the length and girth are neither unusually large nor small. However, the “veins” on the shaft are extremely exaggerated. The base of the toy is shaped somewhat like a scrotum, however the individual testes are not obvious.

The Flexi Dong is 7 1/4” in total length with 6” of insertable length. It is approx. 1 5/8” in diameter and approx. 5” in circumference. It varies a bit because of the mushroom head and textured veins. The base is approx. 3” long and 2” wide. It is a good size for my admittedly small hands to hold onto during use.

Based purely on measurements, I would consider this to be a moderate to large sized dildo. However, because of the extreme softness and squishiness of the toy, I found that it felt much smaller than the actual dimensions. Anyone who isn't an absolute beginner or who truly prefers their toys on the small side would probably be comfortable using this toy.

Because of its flared base, it should be safe to use anally. In fact, the extreme squishiness of the the toy might make it more appealing for anal use than other firmer toys. It would probably still be too thick for someone inexperienced with anal play, but more experienced anal users would probably find it a comfortable size.

The Flexi Dong does indeed bend into different angles along both the front and back axis and side to side. It can bend almost, but not quite, 90 degrees in any direction. It is fairly easy to bend it into whatever curve you like, however, that means that it is also fairly easy for it to change its shape during play. The more extremely I bent the toy, the faster it tended to straighten out during use. When bent into gentler curves, it held its shape fairly well.

I tried bending the toy into a variety of shapes and found that I could hit just about any area inside my vagina that I aimed for. Also, when bent into a fairly tight curve, I could slide the toy against my clitoris as I was thrusting in and out of my vagina.

Not being able to see inside this toy, I can't say for sure, but it feels as if the spine is made up of interlocking parts that allow a certain degree of movement between each part. There is a slight popping feel each time you change the angle of the toy. The spine did not feel flimsy, but it did feel that if too much pressure were put on it that it would break.

The Flexi Dong's well-defined head does give a bit of a pop when inserted and removed. The highly textured shaft does increase the stimulation of the vulva and should increase the stimulation of the anus when used.

The description states that the Flexi Dong is O ring compatible, but since I neither have a harness nor experience with using one, I can't say how well it would work with one.

Because the Futurotic material is a combination of silicone and a rubber type substance, only water based lubes are completely safe to use with this toy. However, if you truly prefer to use silicone lubes, you can spot test a small area to see if the material reacts to the silicone lube. It turns out that some silicone toys are safe to use with silicone lube, but it's better to test first to be on the safe side.

The Futurotic material the Flexi Dong is made of is a dirt magnet. Even after just a few minutes of handling, this toy began to pick up lint and pet hair seemingly out of thin air. Keeping this toy clean will not be an easy task. As mentioned earlier, you should always clean this toy BOTH before and after each use with warm water and a mild anti-bacterial soap or with anti-bacterial toy cleaner.

The crevice in the head of this toy is deep enough that extra attention should be paid to it while cleaning to make sure no particles are left hiding there.

Proper storage of this toy is no easy task either. To safely store your Flexi Dong, you should dust it with pure cornstarch (not a talc based powder because talc has been linked to cervical cancer) and store it in a ziploc bag in a cool dark place. The cornstarch will help prevent Futurotic toys from forming that unpleasant sticky film. You should not store other toys in the same bag with the Flexi Dong because materials like Futurotic can absorb dyes and will sometimes melt onto other toys. I also suspect, but don't know, that if stored underneath something else, that over time, the toy might become permanently deformed.

This is a HIGH MAINTENANCE toy. If you want a toy that you can care for easily, this toy is not for you.

The Futurotic Flexi Dong arrived in a standard clear plastic clamshell package with a paper insert. It is definitely NOT discreet since you can clearly see the dildo through the plastic. The insert has a picture of an attractive woman looking over her shoulder, and an image demonstrating the “bendable vertebrae” of the Flexi Dong. The packaging is somewhat bulky, but could probably be used to store your Flexi Dong as long as you dusted it with cornstarch first.

Unfortunately, the Flexi Dong that I received had a number of bubbles and defects in its surface. There was a large bubble in the material on bottom of the base and there were a series of small defects all in a row along the side of the base.

There were also many small bubbles on the shaft and head of the toy.

In addition to being a sign of shoddy workmanship, these bubbles form perfect hiding places for dirt and bacteria; making an already questionable material even less safe to use. Frankly, although I am very diligent about cleaning my toys, I simply do not trust either the workmanship or the material of this toy and am unlikely to use it again after trying it out for this review.

I don't know how often these type of manufacturing defects occur with this toy. I may have simply gotten the one toy in a million that has these problems. However, I would recommend examining any sex toy for flaws before using it.

Because of the defects this toy had, I was rather hesitant to try it out. Eventually, I cleaned it VERY thoroughly, lubed it up and gave it a go.

I thought that I would like the sensations that the highly textured "veins" of this toy would create. However, the only thing that those big wrinkles accomplished was to pull on the lips of my vulva in a rather annoying manner. Some women might like the feeling, but I found it unpleasant. I could not feel the texture of the "veins" inside my vagina at all. I added extra lube which decreased the tugging on my labia, but also made the toy so slippery that I didn't really feel much sensation when thrusting at slow or moderate speeds. Thrusting very quickly (faster than a live male could) created more sensation, but even with the extra lube, the friction created by the super-fast thrusting soon became uncomfortable.

The flexi feature of the dildo did allow me to try thrusting at different angles, and that was rather fun. It also made it easy to rub the head of the toy against any area inside my vagina that I wanted to. However, it was not enough to bring me to climax. I either need a much thicker, firmer toy or something that vibrates. However, I imagine that women who are easier to please would find the ability to aim the Flexi Dong wherever they wanted to be a tremendous asset.

Another disappointment was that the toy felt significantly smaller than the dimensions would lead you to believe. I like feeling a bit stretched and this toy didn't stretch me at all. In fact, when I stopped thrusting and simply squeezed the toy by flexing my PC muscles, I could barely tell it was there. Even when I pulled out my favorite bullet to add some vibrations and stimulate my muscles to clench harder, the Flexi Dong was so soft that I might as well have not had it inside me at all. I think I could have gotten off faster just using the bullet by itself.

The Flexi Dong is simply not the toy for me. Even though I enjoyed bending the Flexi Dong into different shapes, it's just too squishy for me. The fact that the material it is made of is so high maintenance just makes it less suitable. Other people might be willing to go to all the extra trouble required to clean and maintain a toy made out of this "realistic" material, but I would never put up with a high maintenance boyfriend, I'm unlikely to appreciate a high maintenance toy.

Because of the defects in its "skin" and the fact that it didn't really do much for me, I will probably never use this toy again. My follow up review may consist of a dildo dissection to find out how exactly that flexible spine works.
