Intense Waves of Pleasure

The Wave will absolutely have a regular spot in my toy bag, right next to my strap-on. I enjoy the unique ridges, triangular suction base and sexy appearance. Silicone dildos are always a win and I just found a new one that out-performs other average-looking strap-on dildos.

Pros
Dramatic ridges make for unique sensations. The triangular base allows for easy gripping.
Cons
I'd prefer it be slightly firmer. The suction base might give out during vigorous play.

Use

I've experimented with this toy in several ways. I manually use it in self-pleasure. I also put it in one of my harnesses; I'm partial to the Aslan line. I've manually used it on other women as well.

I recommend this for anyone who has used a dildo before. This isn't small in length and, although I enjoy girth (even more girthy than the Wave), this may be too much for a newbie to dildos.

For folks who like solo play this is fantastic. The suction base provides for some versatility.

For anal use, I'd be cautious and warm up with a smaller dildo or plug first. The ridges are not for the apprehensive or tentative anal experimenters. I'll be writing a follow-up review that has more information about using the Wave anally.

Material / Texture

On first blush, I found the material to be a bit more flexible than I assumed it would be. I thought it would be as firm as a silicone kitchen spatula and it was floppier than that. It certainly maintains its erectness when suctioned to a horizontal surface though.

I enjoyed the smooth feel and the dramatic ridges on the front. As I mentioned above, this wouldn't make a great first dildo. I recommend starting with something much more basic looking. I have the purple Wave so obviously the material isn't realistic-looking. If your cock is purple you're doing it wrong.

Silicone toys tend to be my favorite material, especially when it comes to smell. Other materials give off an unpleasant aroma. Silicone, I find, to be very neutral. If you're into performing oral sex on a dildo, silicone dildos are much less offensive to your taste buds.

Design / Shape / Size

I really enjoy the design of the wave. The high ridges make for lots of internal stimulation, not to mention the pressure on my clit on the way in. This sensation can be magnified by angling it skyward during penetration. This will cause it to hit most women’s g-spots. That's never a bad thing.

The size of the Wave is about perfect for me. One of my partners who recently got to be on the receiving end would concur. When used in a harness, the penetration is just a bit more shallow, but still substantial. Combined with the girth, the size of the Wave might be a bit much for someone who has never used a dildo vaginally. This is certainly true for anyone contemplating its use for anal penetration. It's far too advanced for an anal virgin.

One feature I didn't anticipate enjoying is the shape of the base. Ordinarily, dildos are circular at the base. This one is triangular with rounded edges. I love how this fits in my hand during solo use. I can imagine that when used on a partner, minus the harness, I’d find the same to be true.

If you travel with this toy, it’s going to require some explaining (or at least confidence and a deadpan face). Though it doesn't resemble a cock, it’s quite phallic and unmistakable in its intended use. The Wave is a substantial toy so you won’t be sneaking it into a purse either.

Performance

I always enjoy silicone dildos. Their performance, smell, reliability, and longevity far surpass other materials, in my opinion. So the Wave has silicone in its corner.

When I first saw the base I wondered if it really had good suction. So I stuck it to my bedroom wall and left it there. Ninety minutes later it was still there! I think I could use it to hang scarves over it if I wanted it to double as a kinky hook. So, I was impressed with the suction initially. Next, I attempted to use it while attached to the wall, however awkward that might be. The goal wasn't to get off, it was to see if it had any real staying power. It fell right down. Next stop - shower play.

I brought this into the tub with me to get a sense for how well the suction base worked. My advice? If you're planning on whipping yourself into an orgasmic frenzy, courtesy of a suction base dildo, the Wave is not what you want for that. There's nothing worse than being able to see "The Promised Land" but not be able to actually enter since your toy lost suction and is failing you. If you're into slow, sensual self-pleasure, or play with a partner, and you don't need the suction base to function like a girl who can suck chrome off of a bumper, than the Wave will do the job. Just don't expect miracles.

The Wave holds up fantastically when used in a harness. My partners who bottom when I use a harness really love how it feels. When orgasm is the goal the Wave is the go-to dildo. My favorite harnesses are made by Aslan Leather and I used the Commando with the Wave. I found the fit while using the Wave was comfortable, not awkward or unwieldy. The harness and the Wave moved as one, which aids considerably in the role play of wearing a strap-on.

My personal preference, as mentioned above, would be for the Wave to be just slightly firmer. Your mileage may vary on that one.

Care and Maintenance

The included instructions say that one should wash the Wave before and after use with warm water and mild soap. Also, Fun Factory includes a reminder that this toy should be cleaned thoroughly if its been used for anal use and will then be used for vaginal use.

Another tip is that a very small amount of ToyFluid lube is all you need for comfortable vaginal insertion. For anal play use a liberal portion of ToyFluid.

It mentions keeping a firm grip on the base of the Wave during anal play, so you don't insert it so deeply you lose a handle on it.

Packaging

The Wave came in an unmarked box. Inside was the dildo inside its original packaging. A copy of Sexis magazine arrived with it as well. It's more than a catalog of products; it also has articles like "Synching up your sexual clocks".

The box the Wave was in had a side panel that tells the features of Fun Factory dildos. Things like 100% body-friendly certified Silicone. The opposite side panel is mostly an advertisement for this particular type of Fun Factory dildo, called a Big Stub, which, it says lures you in with size and strength. It also mentions that it's safe for vaginal and anal play. The box says Made in Germany.

In the box, along with the Wave is a small fold-out catalog of other Fun Factory products, a sample of ToyFluid lubricant, and brochure that talks specifically about Stubs. In the brochure there are pictures and descriptions of all the Stubs, except the Wave. I can only assume it is a brand new toy for Fun Factory and they haven't yet remodeled their catalog. The instructions for use are identical for all of the dildos, or Stubs.

The box the Wave is packaged in could easily be wrapped if it was intended to be a gift.

Personal comments

Though not a suggested use, I think I'll wear this in a strap-on harness out to a club on fetish night.

Experience

This toy got a serious breaking-in during a recent threesome. Although it's not for beginners and isn't on the small side, it gave a stand-up performance during double penetration (that would be penetration of both her ass and pussy) of a very lucky girl. She said that the length and girth of the Wave were perfect for her but that when used alone she'd prefer the Wave to have more girth.
Follow-up commentary
This is, hands down, my favorite attachment to my strap-on. My partners rave about it! It feels fantastic, both anally, and vaginally, and looks damn sexy too! I don't leave home without my wave.

I'm not quite brave enough either Sophie, but my boyfriend is. ;-) He'll have more time (and more fun I bet) in the next few weeks.

I like how you commented that the suction cup is okay but not extremely strong. Gives me a heads up on what to expect, thanks.

Goth, from listening to other people's experiences with suction dildos, apparently this isn't all that uncommon. Just a more detailed heads up.
