Silk large - strap-on dildo by Tantus - review by Red Vinyl Kitty

My husband and I have recently begun playing with another couple. Funny how it takes playtime with another woman to make me realize that I don't have as many harness compatible toys as I would like. The best one I have for thrusting right now is a bit too big, and I always have a hard time getting it in, even with lots of warm up. Our friends are going to be visiting again soon, and I really wanted a toy that was harness compatible, sterilizable, and something that was big enough to enjoy - but small enough to take without too many problems. I already have a Silk Small, which I use for anal play, and I thought that a Silk large would really be the perfect toy for my harness. Luckily for me, it really is!

The Silk Dildo is a pure silicone dildo made by Tantus. It would be wonderful for anal play (since it has a flared base), but unfortunately it is a bit too big for me to take that way, so I haven't tested it like that. It is made from a firm yet squishy silicone. You can easily press it with your fingers or in your fist and it gives way easily.

Vaginally, this toy is wonderful as well. I found that the length is a bit too long for me, but the girth of the toy is filling and not too hard for me to take. The material feels great for thrusting since it is so soft, so you won't have to worry about it bruising your cervix. The head of the toy is a little bit larger than the body I've found, which makes it a bit harder to get the toy in at first, but once I get it in, it just feels great.

The Silk Large is 100% silicone, and it passed a match test easily. The toy has no taste or smell. The color I got was pink, and it is so lovely! If you look at the toy up close it has a bright pearlescent sheen to it. It is very smooth and glossy looking.

The toy is firm, yet it does give if squeezed. There is no texture on the toy at all, this is one very smooth piece. It glides easily without much lubricant, and while the toy is pretty basic in design, I really love mine.

This toy really is great for both advanced users as well as beginners who don't like or want a lot of texture. It is harness compatible, and works very well in both a traditional strap on, as well as a thigh harness.

I really like the Silk Large, but it does have a couple of downsides to it. The base is really not the best. I have a silk small, and the base is much thicker and sturdier. The base on my Silk Large is much thinner (by about half) than the silk small I have. Also, the base on my toy looks like it was cut slightly long, making it less stable when you are trying to stand the toy up on a desk or table. Also, because the head is slightly larger than the rest of the toy, coupled with the base being slightly warped, the toy doesn't like to stand upright on its base. The good news is that the toy works great in or out of a harness, and the only time the base has ever been a real issue is for storage.

The circumference of the head of the toy is 4.75", and the rest of the toy is just under 4.50" in circumference. This is a great size I think for most people to take, although size queens will want to beware. The overall length of the toy is 7", with 6.75" being insertable.

Because this toy is so sturdy and easy to take care of, this would definitely be a great toy to travel with. You could easily fit this in a suitcase or back pack with no problems. Of course, if you get the pink one like I did, someone is bound to see it if you open your case. I would say that hot pink isn't too discreet.

The slight bulge the head of the toy has managed to hit my g-spot. I loved this, and wasn't expecting it with such a straight toy. Just to warn you though, my g-spot is pretty shallow, so if yours is deeper, you may have trouble stimulating it with this toy.

We have used this dildo in both a thigh harness as well as a typical strap on harness, and it worked wonderfully in both. While the base isn't great for storage, it worked just fine in both harnesses, although I do wish it was a bit thicker.

Silicone is really easy to care for. You can use a toy cleaner, soap and water, 10% bleach solution, boil this, or even put it on the top rack of your dishwasher.

Because this toy is made from silicone, you should only use water based lubricants with it. Silicone based lubes will degrade the material.

The packaging this came in was a typical Tantus box. It is completely see through plastic with the toy suspended in a clamshell case inside. Since you can see the toy so easily, I would say that the box is not discreet. Anyone is going to know what this is just by looking at the box.

The box did not come with many instructions or anything. It did have a very small leaflet with some other Tantus items in it.

While you could use the package for storage, it is really very bulky, and you'd probably be better off to buy a storage bag or keep these in a drawer.
