Vegan Commando - double strap by ASLAN Leather - review by KinkyShay

The Vegan Commando is a versatile harness, able to be used by both genders easily. There is very little in the way of a learning curve for a beginner to put it on. This is my second harness made by Aslan Leather and I could have used this just as easily as a first harness.

I use this harness to penetrate partners of both sexes, both vaginally and anally. One could also use this as a fashion statement, under clothing, or while playing out a scene in a BDSM scenario.

I'm fairly sure that the "non-leather material" the Vegan Commando is made of is leatherette, which is extremely durable and will hold up better than leather by far over time. It's basically vinyl or a form of it.

The one disadvantage I know of with this material is that it isn't porous and so it doesn't allow air to pass through it, thus sweat can accumulate.

The Vegan Commando is made with straps at the waist that are adjustable with a buckle on each side. There are also straps that go from below the O-ring, through the crotch area and up to the waist strap in the back. Those are adjustable with a tightening metal D-ring on two straps. The stitching is flawless and I found it to be reinforced in areas where wear is likely to show up over time. The O-ring included is about the right size for many average toys, accommodating flared dildos as large as 1 7/8" around. However the loops that hold the O-ring in place can unsnap so that a number of other O-rings, smaller or larger, could be used, thus making it versatile for smaller or larger flared dildos.

I like the fact that the Vegan Commando fits low on my hips. Not only does it feel ultra-sexy, it puts the O-ring at a position that feels good for thrusting.

I adjusted the harness to about two thirds its tightness for the hip measurements. It adjusts up to a hip size of 46" which is a great range. I'd like for it to have an extra loop to tuck in the excess that's created when used by someone with a waist my size or smaller. It would also be helpful if it adjusted in the area of how high or low the O-ring sits. This would increase its versatility for those who are longer in the waist area.

I've mostly used the Vegan Commando in positions involving my partner on their back or side, with me on top kneeling in a variation of the missionary position. I can see the Vegan Commando holding up just as efficiently in other positions such as penetration from below, rear entry, or standing.

Though I don't have a biological cock, using the Vegan Commando felt as natural as I imagine one that's detachable at the end of the night can feel. Having no real sense of when penetration is happening, other than my other senses, there is a learning curve for using any strap-on. One gets more confident the more one works at getting a feel for it.

Toys were indeed secure in the Vegan Commando and stayed put during penetration. I've yet to use my entire arsenal of strap-on toys with the Vegan Commando (that would take a while) but I'll write a follow-up review with more information as I form new opinions.

Apparently you could remove one of the between the legs straps and create a G-strap harness. This would turn the Commando into an anal plug harness. I'm not keen on the "butt floss" style of strap-ons, so this isn't for me, but it's good to know if thongs don't bother you.

From reading a little more about caring for leatherette I know that folks recommend not using vinyl cleaner. There's no need to condition it with leather products as it doesn't absorb in the manner that leather does. Soap and water are perfectly acceptable. Some people have suggested citrus-based products but I think it's a matter of personal preference.

The Vegan Commando came in a plastic zippered bag. There was no excess packaging which, as an environmentalist, I very much appreciated. The care instructions were for leather products and initially this confused me. When I wrote to Aslan Leather and asked if they had sent either the wrong strap-on (a leather one) or the wrong care instructions, I got a response that you can care for it the way one cares for leather. The fit feels sensual and sexy. I can and have worn it at kinky parties as a fashion statement. It looks great with a corset, a vinyl garter belt and stockings. If it fit higher on my hips it wouldn't look as stunning. I think I may experiment with wearing it under clothing just as a personal thrill.
