Oh, it's 'Small,' Alright!: A Tool for the Timid

My boy and I will turn to this time and time again until we graduate to larger toys. It opened him up to pegging and for that I am grateful. It did have its hiccups, but all-in-all is the best toy I've seen out there perfect for beginners to anal play.

Use

In my experience, a great way to open a tight tush to the idea of pegging. Manipulated best manually, this dildo is so short (3.75" insertable) that it is really not ideal for much pegging. It is also too flimsy and thin to stand up to thrusting- it simply bends over on itself. Unless you are cool with being very attentive and limited to a position or two that will allow leverage for thrusting, it's like trying to fuck someone with a pencil eraser between your legs. Granted, it is certainly longer than a pencil eraser, but once the angle of thighs attached to the torso come into play, this dildo's use in a strap-on harness becomes incredibly limited. I prefer to grab it by that flimsy base and thrust it manually, rather than mess with the charades of the strap-on.

Material / Texture

Now I love silicone just as much as the next gal; it's pretty, non-porous, easy to clean, doesn't smell, doesn't burn you like rubber or jelly... it's just about perfect. But in this dildo's case, with its flared base and advertisement as a companion to a strap-on, a more firm material would've better sufficed. As it is, the silicone coupled with the thin diameter of the Small Silk leave it curling into a 'C' when trying to gently push its way into a tight asshole. This results in a need to 'feed' it in - not really the effect I was going for. And since I purchased this toy solely for pegging, a sizeable damper was placed on the party simple due to the silicone's lack of a hard-on.
The smoothness of the shaft and the small rounded head were ideal for insertion and beginner anal play, as they were gentle on sensitive virgin tissues.

Design / Shape / Size

The design was what allured me to the Small Silk. Its petite form and smooth edges coupled with the flared base made it appear ideal for the task at hand. Anyone new to opening their ass should be introduced gradually, and with stature no large than a mediocre finger, Tantus pretty much has this one licked and ready for playtime. How can anyone be intimidated by this abstract, simple little thing? And intimidation is exactly who anal beginners do not invite in the bedroom.
The dildo is also lightly curved near the head to ensure appropriate prostate stimulation. The flared base keep you resting assured that you'll never lose it inside your cave, and help it stand upright on a nightstand to keep it out of the way until your post-coital routine ends and you can focus on cleanup.

Performance

For harness compatibility, the toy can do its job but with a bit of fumbling. It must be 'fed' into the anus as it is quite flimsy and will bend and turn rather than push inside its target. It's also so short than you basically have to have your pegging partner on his back with several cushions under his 'tushions' and spread his and your thighs far apart. The 'long stroke' will never be achieved with this toy, as it simply falls 'short.' Literally. We did manage to have a bit of fun with it, however, before I became tuckered and he... well, came.
The best feature of this toy is its smooth small body. It allowed my boy to open up in a way he never had to me, and we experienced pegging for the first time, much more quickly than I thought we could, based on his apprehensions about it. He really got into it, and I think the non-realistic appearance of the toy as well as its low intimidation factor really helped out.

Care and Maintenance

Silicone is great. A rub-down with soap and water, and then a swipe with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol are enough to secure me in this toy's safety. Of course, we don't swap between holes or partners, so if you plan on doing that be sure to, as always, use a condom. Let him airdry before storing, which should only take about 20 minutes. Water based lube is Small Silk's best friend, and silicone lube is his mortal enemy. We store ours in a labeled ziplock freezer bag and back in the hatbox where we keep all our dildos.

Though I was disappointed about the bendy-feature of the toy, it did bring my partner and I our first pegging experience, which I was so longing for! For this I have to say, kudos, Tantus, and thank you! Anal beginners everywhere can rest assured, there is a perfect toy out there whom they can trust to open them up to the lovely, intense, wild world of anal play.

Experience

My beau reported not being very stimulated by this, but I was so excited by simply successfully getting it into his ass that I overlooked it. Only in successive sessions, when he started asking for it while I rubbed or sucked him, did it hit me that he was underplaying its value. I mean, there's a prostate back there. It's basically his G-spot. And I know my G-spot does more than give me the hiccups. We'll be using this frequently till we can move up to larger toys.

Important Update! The small silk is listed at 1" diameter but it is really only 3/4" diameter. This proved to be quite an epic fail on the manufacturer's part. When searching for a slightly larger dildo to graduate my boy's butt to, gradually I was mistakenly looking for those with 1 1/4" diameter. When I got the larger toy in the mail I realized the discrepancy, and my boy was simply unable to handle the large gap in girth.
Upon a bit of research, the silk medium and large are also 1/4" smaller than listed.

It's still a great toy for beginners, but would be even greater if the base and shaft were a bit sturdier, to stand up to thrusting, via strap-on harness or hand.

This is exactly how I felt about the Silk Medium when using it for pegging---way too flimsy, but still the best thing we could have chosen. You did a lot better describing it than I did way back in my first review, though! Now that I know more, I wish Tantus made these out of the firmer silicone they use in the G-force.

Great review. We found the same thing with the silk small for pegging. We still use itl and the silk medium, as well, for warm up toys to bigger and better things, so in that regard they work well.

      Hi Kval! I think Silk is a wonderful toy for an anal novice. I've used this toy on a couple of anal beginners...it's very good because it's small and very smooth. You should not look for something bigger, she can only move up to a larger toy once she learns to relax the muscles with a smaller one. Good luck!
    • You can always go smaller, with beads, etc. DON'T go bigger, especially if she's apprehensive about it! Start with a finger or two before you buy a toy. If she's not ok with that, then it is silly to waste your money.

      And PLEASE remember, Lube is your friend. Use lots of it. When you think you have enough, use some more! Thicker stuff, like Maximus, is really good in these situations.
