Black leather low rider dildo harness - double strap harness by Kookie Intl - review by Sir

Sporting supple leather and metal hardware, Kookie Intl's Black Leather Low-Rider harness is yet another well-made double-strap harness for those who prefer the feel of leather harnesses, are harness aficionados, or just like to collect harnesses. Since it does not have an interchangeable o-ring, it lacks the versatility that other harnesses have and would not be the best choice for a first harness purchase. It seems to be aimed toward a lower price point than other, more expensive leather harnesses, as the leather is not of the best quality.

According to Kookie Intl, the harness is made entirely out of leather. To me, who has handled probably way too many pieces of leather garments in my lifetime, it feels slightly strange, but I'll go with what the manufacturer says and trust that it is genuine leather. It is very smooth, and it does have that authentic leather scent. It's also very comfortable and flexible, which is great for longer or rougher play. Because of the fact that the leather is of medium thickness, it's thin enough that it's form-fitting and flexible, but that can pose problems in that it stretches out more easily over time.

All of the hardware is made out of metal; what type of metal that is, however, I'm not sure. To be safe, those who have nickel allergies should be cautious and either not purchase the harness or coat each of the pieces of hardware (especially the d-rings) with clear nail polish.

The harness is a double-strap harness that adjusts at the waist/hips with regular buckles, and around the thighs/butt with sliding buckles. All of the straps are double-riveted to the main piece, and they are stitched cleanly at the edges. In regular harness fashion, the leather is folded over in such a way that the edges meet, and no suede backing is touching the skin—only smooth leather.

On the front is a triangular-shaped crotch piece that almost completely covers the pubic mound. It bears an opening that serves as the harness's o-ring, but it is not interchangeable (it doesn't have snaps that allow the o-ring to be switched out for o-rings of other sizes or materials). That being said, the opening has a large enough girth that most attachments with large bases will be able to be worn with it (Vixen Creations, anyone?). It has a diameter of 2", which can hold smaller toys with larger bases or larger toys up to diameters of that same size.

Inside of the crotch piece is a tag with an American flag. I singed mine so that it doesn't fray any longer. It can also be taken off with a seam ripper; just make sure to be mindful of the leather.

Even though the harness is not fitting for people whose hips measure over 42", it does adjust for those within the size range of about 24" to 46" hips. Each of the hip straps that is connected to the front piece is 11" in length, with eleven holes placed approximately 1" apart. The strap that wraps behind the body is 20" long. Both of the straps that adjust around the thighs/butt are adjustable by d-rings, meaning that they can be adjusted along the entire length of the strap (21").

The sizing fit me just fine, and I'm around 26" to 28" in the hips. Since it is a lower-fitting harness that sits at the hips, keep this in mind if your hips are wider than your waist.

Throughout play, the harness stayed up just fine and did not move around too much. The front piece was a bit loose on me due to how big it was (the triangle was too big for my pubic mound), but this was easily remedied by a bit of extra adjustment on the thigh/butt straps. It was incredibly easy to adjust because the leather is so smooth and malleable. Additionally, the buckles are good quality buckles so they do not come undone during play.

Once an attachment is put into the o-ring, the harness does droop down away from the body if the attachment is too heavy, creating a space between the body and leather that may make some people uncomfortable. That being said, it still holds the attachment up and, if adjusted more tightly, holds it closer to the body. It doesn't stretch out during play too much, and I didn't have to adjust it once.

Because the Low-Rider harness is leather, follow proper care for all leather products: keep it out of direct sunlight, make sure to store it in a dry, well-ventilated area, and take it out every now and then for cleaning and conditioning. A regular leather cleaner and conditioner should work fine with the harness. I personally store mine where I store my other leather harnesses: hung on a brass hanger in my closet. This keeps all of my leathers together and out of harm's way.

Kookie Intl packaged this harness fairly simply in a plastic bag with a sticker keeping it closed. There were no instructions of care and maintenance included, so it was truly incredibly minimal packaging.

Even though this harness is of a sufficient quality, I have higher expectations of leather harnesses. This is why I'm giving it a three star rating as opposed to a five star rating—because of the lack of an interchangeable o-ring and lower quality leather. If a harness is going to be made of leather, it should be made of the best quality, as the customer always deserves that. That being said, if it's cheaper than other leather harnesses (such as Aslan Leather or Outlaw), it may be worth the purchase because it is still a good, comfortable harness.

I will say that their company is very receptive, which is always a plus; I wrote them to ask them about the genuineness of the leather, and they did let me know that it was genuine leather.
