First Impressions

I reviewed this product after checking out the similar Seductive Schoolgirl costume, so this time I expected the chemical smell of the dildo. Though the beige dildo is identical in shape and size to the clear pink one that came with the schoolgirl costume, the smell is not as searing. I liked the camouflage soldier costume because it's less common than maids and schoolgirls, and gives more dominant role play possibilities.

The Dildo

The emblem on the box says the dildo is made of Sil-a-gel and I have since learned that this is an antibacterial coating for a PVC or jelly dildo. The smell of the dildo is too strong for me and I am not willing to use it.

If you are less sensitive to smells than I am and want to use the dildo then it is safe with water or silicone based lubricants. It rates as a 5 on Eden's safety chart. The material is supposed to be antibacterial but it cannot be sterilized by boiling, so make your own decisions about sharing between partners. It can be cleaned with soap and water or toy cleaner.

Happily, the dildo can be replaced by another Vac-u-lock dildo, such as this one which is silicone and will give a similar look with a safe and odorless material.

The Harness

I didn't expect this harness to be as comfortable as my Sedueux Diva Plus Size Harness, but I was at least hoping for something fun and useful. The harness I received is a plus size and I did not have any difficulty getting it to fit with extra strapping to spare. But the stiffness of the nylon, the width of the leg parts of the harness and the placement of the entire arrangement made the harness rather uncomfortable for me.

The dildo panel sits very low with the top of the skirt/harness a little below the top of my pubic hairline. Some people probably prefer this placement, with the pubic bone behind the dildo but I'd be more comfortable if it were a bit higher. However, I adjusted it; I was unable to get it to sit differently because of the way the leg straps are put together.

The leg straps are too wide and stiff, and there's something that just feels wrong about the angle. I was able to adjust the leg straps and hip strap to fit but there was no adjustment I could do that made this harness comfortable enough to wear for an extended period.

Vac-u-Lock

I've wanted to try Doc Johnson's Vac-U-Lock system for some time and this was my first opportunity. While I wasn't willing to use the dildo for its intended purpose, I did insert and remove the Vac-U-Lock plug so I could see how it fit. It feels sturdier than an O-ring strap-on and is rather difficult to pull out. The kit did not come with the lubricating powder but you can always use your own cornstarch for this purpose. If I decided to use Vac-U-Lock dildos regularly, I'd want a plug for each dildo, so that I only had to snap the entire piece on and off the harness as needed.

The Costume

The costume is the best part of the kit. The camouflage fabric is a stretchy knit with a white reverse. The "skirt", which is really just a ruffle sewn on to the harness, has a second black mesh ruffle underneath the camo one.

The bra will certainly not win any engineering awards for support purposes but most women should have no difficulty in getting it to fit. There's an adjustable bit around the back strap and you can make the ties between the breasts and behind the neck tighter or looser to fit. The product photo shows each bra cup closed above the centre bow and open below. It actually arrives stitched closed, both above and below, with threads that are easily snipped. If you want a nipple peeking out, then snip away. I really liked having this option and it made the bra even more fun.

The little headband accessory is just a length of fabric which could also be used as a blindfold or wrist tie when you "capture" your "prisoner of war".

It's really a shame that the skirt didn't come separate from the harness, as the harness was too uncomfortable for me. It may fit differently on different body shapes, of course.

The soldier costume appeals to me as a more creative role play endeavour than the classic maid or schoolgirl, and I think the manly theme goes well with the idea of a not-so-hidden strap on. While I was disappointed with the dildo and harness, I believe I will get something similar to this skirt to complete the bra and headband part of the costume and add my own harness and dildo set.

Once I've done that, I intend to dominate my lover and make him a prisoner of war, to be tortured with pleasure but not allowed to come until he agreed to talk... dirty, of course.

I've never tried to use it since the first review. The combination of the smell of the dildo and the poor fit of the harness are too much to overcome. I have purchased another piece of soldier lingerie to wear with my own harness and dildo, because I still think the concept is sexy as hell. It's a shame the execution wasn't better.
