Swim at your Own Risk

Know your body and what you enjoy when considering your purchase of the Tsunami. Only those who enjoy tons of texture will enjoy these highly raised ridges. I'd caution those who are new to toys to start your collection with something more mild before deciding if this is right for them. If you know you LOVE texture, then you need this toy right away.

Use

So, here's the thing. Sometimes I just can't listen to reviews. Even though other people have ranted and raved about this one being a little more than a bit too much, I just had to see for myself. For some reason, I thought I might be different and it would be amazing. Because, look at it; it's so neat looking. How can it be that bad? Oh, it can. I went into this review like it was a challenge, but one I could surely overcome. I tried the Tsunami once, and it was a glorious failure. I tried it again after a month of so, and it once again just didn't work or do anything good for me. Repeat this process a half dozen more times and this is where I am now. I put in the work. I brainstormed. I tried to love this, and then when I knew that wasn't going to happen I tried to find a positive quality, a way to like this toy, and I couldn't make it happen. The deal is, you need to know yourself. If you love really intense texture, things catching on your pubic bone, or maybe you have a partner who likes things really rough, you might want to give this a try. If that last sentence made you cringe, you should pass this one by.

Now that my disclaimer is out of the way, we'll get to the basics. This is a dildo, which resembles a series of waves on one side and is smooth on the other. It could be used safely vaginally or anally, on anyone. You will need to know that you love texture vaginally. My partner enjoys it more anally than I do vaginally, as it does massage a P-spot well.

The Tsunami can we used in a harness, just be sure that you have an O-ring that it can fit through. I would suggest that you use this solo before attempting it with a partner, so you know how much of it you can take and which angles or tempos you prefer.

Material / Texture

The Tsunami is made of two distinct materials: silicone and plastic. The dildo itself is one solid chunk of amazing silicone, while the bullet is a fairly standard silver plastic bullet.

The dildo is made of high quality silicone in a slightly iridescent pink color. The silicone used in the Tsunami is somewhere between matte and shiny, with a slight amount of drag when you slide your finger over it but a visually shiny surface. There is a ton of texture, in the form of large raised wave ridges along one side of the dildo. There is a fair amount of bend and flex to the silicone, and you can fold the Tsunami in half if you really use your muscles and put your back into it.

The bullet is a standard pointed Tantus silver plastic bullet, which unscrews to allow you to put the batteries inside. The surface is smooth and very shiny. The silver coating seems to be staying put, with no flaking or wear.

Design / Shape / Size

Although not overly large, the added texture really gives the Tsunami the feeling of a larger dildo. The total length of this dildo is right around 7 1/4" long, and just about all of that is insertable length, all except the 1/2" base. Although that base has some bend and flex, it is substantial enough to give you security when you use it anally. That rounded curved tip isn't overly wide, but the toy increases in diameter the closer you get to the base. I wouldn't recommend this as as starter dildo for beginners.

The tip has a pronounced curve, which may work well for some in reaching and massaging their G-spot. I wasn't able to make it work for that, but it will really depend on where your particular G-spot is located and the angles you like to use. My partner reported that it worked very well for P-spot play and massage, as those waves really hit the spot.

It doesn't look at all realistic, but it is phallic in shape and design, so it's not likely that anyone who sees this will be confused about what it is and what it's for. Whether or not you consider it good for travel will depend on you, and how comfortable you may be with people knowing you use and enjoy toys.

Performance

The Tsunami is a tricky toy to review. It's a high quality toy and from a design point of view I can't really point any fingers at any issues. Whether this toy is something you love or hate will depend on the user, but I will say that I think it's not a toy that you can be lukewarm about.

The base has an opening for the bullet to fit into, which has side ridges for easier removal. Even so, it's a bit tricky to remove. The vibrations of the bullet don't transfer amazingly well through the toy, but that's fairly standard in a silicone dildo with this heft to it. I found the batteries lasted the amount of time you would expect, about three sessions before becoming less powerful and then finally stopping altogether. The bullet is fairly quiet, and certainly won't be heard over the covers.

As it has an opening for the bullet, the base doesn't have a suction cup.

Care and Maintenance

The Tsunami is all silicone, so cleaning is simple. You can clean the toy with a mild soap and water or with your favorite toy cleaner. If you wish to sterilize the toy, you could boil it for three minutes or place it in the top rack of your dishwasher. It has the well known ability of all Tantus toys, and picks up lint and hair like a champ, so you be sure to inspect it and rinse it off prior to using it. Please use only water based lubes, as silicone lubes will damage the toy. When you store the Tsunami, take care to store it away from other silicone toys, as contact with them will cause damage.
Follow-up commentary
I'll admit that this never became a favorite. I pull it out once every so often to see if I can make it work, but it's always a disappointment. I can hardly blame the toy entirely, as it's a well made, quality toy which has held up well.

Thank you for the review! Despite your warning about the waves, I still really want to try this toy; I agree - it's a toy that you can't just listen to reviews about and have to try for yourself.

I appreciate you coming right out and saying what you did because that's exactly how it is sometimes. That alone makes this a useful review, but the rest makes it extremely useful!

You're spot on saying a new user shouldn't start with something like this until they know what they really like. Once I had an idea what works for me, I found items I absolutely love after trying something no one else liked. One thing I have learned is that texture is not my friend, for the most part, but sometimes I can work around it. I am sorry to hear you couldn't find a good work around to use this for yourself. Thanks for the review!

On a side note, Tantus is taking into consideration the repeated requests to make this toy available in blue.
