Inside out spiral rib double dong - glass dildo discontinued by Phallix - review by Ms. N

I was drawn to the Inside Out Spiral Rib Double Dong by Phallix from the first time I saw it. The pictures on the EF site show it to be a lovely swirl of colors and texture. It is, in a word, beautiful. For that reason, I have been surprised by the lack of reviews for the toy. The only reason imaginable for this lack is the hefty price tag attached to this spectacular piece of glass.

Features and Design
Before considering this piece as a sex toy, consider it as a piece of art. Each piece of Phallix glass is individually hand blown, giving each piece an individual look all its own. Whereas the piece featured on the EF description page appears to be colored in blues and purples, the toy I received held a mixture of greens, blues, blacks, whites, and even a little bit of orange. These colors are swirled within the medical grade borosilicate glass used to make all Phallix toys. They spiral within the toy which features two equally-sized, bulbous heads and a shaft of raised ridges that encircle the toy's length. A slight angling of the shaft allows for a delicate curve of the toy for more solicitous attention to the g-spot.

Size and Use
According to the description page, this toy is 7 1/2" long, with a circumference of 4 1/2" and a 1 1/4" diameter at the head (the circumference of the shaft is slightly slimmer, but only slightly). From the picture below, you can see that this is a fairly accurate description of its dimensions.



At 8.5 ounces, the toy is neither too heavy nor too light. As Goldilocks would say (if Goldilocks were a fan of sex toys, and who is to say she's not?), it is "just right." This piece, as is typical of glass toys, is hypoallergenic and phthalates-free, delivering a high level of safety that is so desirable in a sex toy. It is compatible with any type of lube, and the lube will last longer since the toy is non-porous. As with all glass toys, you should be careful when thrusting the Inside Out, as glass toys are hard enough to bruise the cervix. One great thing about glass toys like this one is that they are perfect for temperature play. Whether you like your glass hot or cold, this toy will take the heat or chill that you desire.

Packaging and Storage
My toy arrived in the plastic container shown below. As you can see, the packaging is not discreet in any way. The words "Art of Sex" are scrawled across the top of the package, and the dildo is fully visible.



Inside the packaging is the toy, a flyer with pictures of other items in the Phallix line, and a light pink, lace-embroidered, satin (not velvet, as mentioned on the description page) drawstring bag. For the price, Phallix should include a padded storage bag, like Don Wands does with their glass products. The thinness of the Phallix bag shows that it is meant for storage only, not for protection of the toy. It is also a bit "girly," if that has any bearing on your decision-making process. If you purchase this, or any Phallix glass toy, I would suggest picking up an EdenFantasys toy pouch to go with it.



Cleaning
Glass toys tend to be low-maintenance as far as cleaning goes, and this toy is no exception. A simple rinse with soap and water will be sufficient to keep this toy fresh. There is also the option of running it through the dishwasher if you prefer.

This toy is a little wider in circumference than I usually use, so I had to warm up to it with a toy of less girth. I also enjoy a little clitoral stimulation when I play, so a bullet vibe was also incorporated into the prep time. After properly working up to the Inside Out, I found it to be extremely filling, but not quite to my liking for thrusting.

I chose this toy for two reasons: the design, and the texture. For the design, I was in no way disappointed. This toy is a beautiful work of art. The texture, on the other hand, didn't do much for me. The pattern reminds me of traveling over a bumpy road, or trying to carry a wheeled suitcase up stairs. I prefer the nubs of my Rainbow Mega Nubby to the spiral pattern of this toy.

Overall, I like this toy, but I don't love it. I will give it four stars because of that, and the lack of a proper storage pouch. You may or may not get a chance to discover how it works for you, as EF currently lists it as discontinued. There are many other fine Phallix toys to try though, and I suggest that you do. I know I will.

Though I still have to warm up for this toy, I still think it is beautiful, and it will remain in my collection as a once-in-a-while toy.
