A piece of sheer excellence!

A fantastic little toy built for a woman body. It was constructed with intimate knowledge of the ways a vagina curves and hits all kinds of lovely spots. An excellent, elegant, sex-positive toy for women everywhere. It catches lint easily, however.
Published: November 30, 2009
Pros:
Excellent material, sturdy construction, easy to clean, has a G-spot end, has a year-long warranty.
Cons:
The stamped logo on the side can catch buildup, lint sticks to it easily.

Use

I find the Ella to be one of the most comfortable dildos I've ever used. The gentle curves of the dildo conform to the natural shame of my vagina nicely, with the body of the dildo rising to meet my G-spot, and then tapering to fit under my cervix. I rather enjoy the tapered end, because like a lot of women I loathe having my cervix jammed by anything. It nestles nicely underneath it and never bothers me. The rise of the dildo curves up just behind my pubic bone and it feels like it was meant to be there. If I pull it forward just a touch while masturbating, it hits my G-spot nicely. While I didn't find it to be orgasm-worthy, it was certainly pleasurable and I enjoy this immensely. The curved end makes for a lovely handle by which to push, push, or otherwise manipulate this lovely toy is fanTASTIC. No straining your wrist to grab the end of a straight dildo, rather it curves to your palm. The dildo used in reverse did not do much for me, and I tried to get the handle to hit my G-spot, to no avail.

Material / Texture

The dildo is much firmer than I expected. I own two softer silicone toys and I expected the texture and density to be the same, but the Ella is much harder. It's difficult to bend, even a little bit. I was a little concerned at first, thinking the firmness would hurt, but it turned out not to be an issue, and is even a boon when used internally. The surface is a little velvety. Soft, but not glossy. It has no smell or taste. The silicone washes very easily. It's best used with a water-based lube, however, as silicone lube will degrade the toy.

Design / Shape / Size

The toy is a work of art. It has very sensual curves which mold wonderfully to the natural shape of a vagina. The toy itself is about seven inches long, and is modestly sized at about 1.5 inches in diameter. The dildo is double ended, with the body narrowing into a neck, then flaring back up into what could be used as either a G-spot end, or a convenient handle. With the flared base, and some diligence, I imagine the Ella could be used as an anal toy. My Ella is white, and it is a sterling, flawless white with "LELO" stamped on the side. The dildo, with just a touch of water-based lube, or my own wetness, glides right in like it was MADE for my pussy. It is nothing short of amazing.

Performance

This is my go-to dildo. I love the way it fits, glides, and performs. When I used the body of the dildo inside me, I love to push and pull on it at certain points in my happy-fun-time. Doing so stimulated my G-spot in such a way that it makes my eyes roll back into my head, and I look forward to it every time I settle in to flick the bean. It is deliciously firm, just firm enough I think. I was less impressed when I turned the toy around, using the smaller end to try and get at my G-spot. I jabbed, and pushed, and pulled, and tried, but that end did nothing for me, even after months of extensive "review."

Care and Maintenance

The toy is seamless, so it is very easy to clean with mild soap and water. The stamped "LELO" logo might prevent a slight problem because at first I didn't notice it and it had a little build up that I was easily able to clean out with an old tooth brush. The dildo is made with 100% silicone, so it doesn't play nice with silicone lube. Also, because it is made of silicone, it can be sterilized in a 10% bleach solution, some anti-bacterial soap, or even in the dishwasher. The surface, while a lovely velvet feel, has a tendency to catch lint so it would be worth cleaning before a romp in the sack. As always, if you are sharing this toy, put a condom on it.

Packaging

The toy came to me in a sleek black box, covered in a plastic cover to hold it still. A set of instructions, and a warranty (which is impressive,) were included. Packaged with the toy was a satiny drawstring bag to keep your Ella in, which given the Ella's tendency to collect dist, is a very nice touch. The box itself could easily be used as a gift box, given the simple, elegant packaging.

Personal comments

This toy re-invented my style of jilling off. It's something I look forward to when I want to masturbate, and reach for before I even go digging for my clit-vibe. It enhances my orgasms so much that with and without my Ella is like night and day. I love this dildo, and it made me reconsider my "ew, dildos" stance. I love it.

Experience

I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what to say about this dildo. I love the way it fit with me, and gently stimulated my G-spot. Even though I wasn't particularly impressed by the G-spot end, I really grew to love this dildo and it has a permanent spot in my vagina's heart. However, it is something I prefer to use alone. When I let my partner at the reins of this baby, he pushed the toy in -- and nailed my cervix. This is neither my boyfriend's fault, nor the toy's fault. I chalk it up to blind (bad) luck and his lack of intimate knowledge of a woman's body (that only women really have.) Ever since I've decided this is my solitary toy.

I wasn't all that impressed with the gspot end, either, but the simple end is nice. Smile Good review!

  • ella vs. others
    • I want to get ella as my first she doesn't seem as menacing as the others made of glass or metal but are those materials better sensation wise?
    • It comes down to personal preference, really. You're not going to know if glass or metal feels better to you until you try.

A couple things to keep in mind, though: glass and metal have absolutely no give, so they tend to feel bigger than silicone toys of the same size. They're also rather heavy in most cases, and so you need to be a bit more careful when you use them. Being too rough can result in internal bruising. They're very slick and smooth, though, unlike silicone which typically has some drag to it.

The Ella is pretty rigid for a silicone toy, but it's very light and easy to use. It's great if you're new to dildos. :)

  • How Does Lelo Ella compare to Gigi?
    • I know that Ella doesn't vibrate, but are there many other differences? I am wondering whether the Ella might be a better shape or size for g-spot stimulation
    • i'm wondering this too. i bought gigi and was disappointed but ella seems even better should I or shouldn't I?

  • Would the Ella work well for a beginner?
    • I'm thinking of getting my bestfriend this for Christmas but she is new to toys. Would this be a good toy to give a newbie? I have not tried it myself so I'm not sure how easy it is to master.
    • I have the similarly shaped Gigi and found nothing but frustration when trying to thrust with it.
    • i think it would be a good option for a beginner.

  • I need help the Ella curve is doing me in.
    • I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have read every review and some twice. I can not figure this girl out. I want to write a review but, how can I write a review on something I do not get. Any ideas would be wonderful. Please help me enjoy this beautiful toy.
    • What do you not get about it? Not every toy works for every woman. Does it hurt to use? Maybe your vagina is too small for it yet or maybe you just need some lube. Do you not feel anything? Again, nothing is for everyone. Try sqeezing the toy by doing kegels when you use it. Some women say that makes things feel better. Or maybe try tilting it up towards your g-spot. That works for me with other toys.

I haven't used it yet. Just recently purchased a white Ella. And I can't wait! We've got the same name! :D
    • If you don't get it you can still write your review from that perspective. I'm sure you wouldn't be the only one who had that experience with it. I have the Ella and she's nice but she's not fireworks for me and that's ok. We all have different experiences with toys and that is what makes these reviews so valuable.

  • Dildo vs. Vibrator
    • I am having a hard time getting used to the idea of a dildo vs. a vibrator! As far as using one goes, how does one decide which is better for oneself? Just wondering and thanks!

What I mean by this I think is, is it easier with one than the other, or maybe does it require a different mind set or even is one better with partner play vs. solo? I don't know, LOL, just curious.
    • When we started with toys it was all about clit vibes for 'effective' reliable orgasms. But as we got into g-spot and a-spot stimulation, dildos have advantages over vibes because pressure is more important than vibes.

Now we almost always have some of both going on. A dildo for internal and a clit vibe for external - although she occasionally likes two vibes.

The only truism I've found is that what she wants/needs is different almost every time. I use to think 'this worked last time - so lets do it again' - but now I think 'we did that last time - what can I do to mix things up'.

That's why we have dozens of toys - both vibes and dildos.

  • Ella for beginners
    • Hey! I was just wondering if Ella would be something an absolute beginner could use, someone who's never gone looking for her g-spot before. She seems awfully tempting, but I wonder if I it's too advanced a toy for me?

Ella is perfect for beginners. I had tried several other G-spot toys before Ella. Ella was the first one that worked for me. Several people have had their first successes with Ella.

I'm glad Ella seems like such a successful toy! I hope she works for me, too <3

  • Ella and Gigi
    • I've had both the Ella and the Gigi sitting in my shopping cart for days now. I was wondering.. should I get them both, or should I maybe just get one to try, then maybe later on get the other if I want?

They both seem so worth it, it's hard to just pick one!

I just bought the Ella and have not tried it yet, but everyone seems to love it. I have had the GiGi for a couple of months and rarely use it, mainly because the control thing is located in the worst possible spot, and I invariably hit it and make the settings change! Argh! I also had no luck with it for g-spot stimulation, and the only times I get it out it is for clit work.

Even though I wasn't crazy about GiGi, it seems to do the job for a lot of people, so it might work for you. In fact, I bought it based on all the wonderful reviews. I've come to the conclusion that there is no one toy that will do the trick for everyone. Everyone is VERY different in their tastes and what they need.
    • I agree that no toy is good for everyone. I can not get a rabbit vibe that actually works for me by stimulating my clit and vag at the same time. Perhaps its operator error.
Anyway, I love the Gigi. I solved the control issue for me anyway by wiping the lube off the control and my fingers...success. The effectiveness of the Gigi is the vibe plus the design. I don't have the Ella, which is not a vibe but I see it as similar to many of the g spot dils available.
