Out of the package, this toy did have a strange and rubbery odor, but after a few days out it seems to have vanished completely. It can feel a bit sticky, but if kept in something it stays very clean. While I am very slightly disappointed about that, it is nowhere near enough to deter me from telling others to buy this.
