Use

As you may be able to tell from the title the Basix Dong has entered and departed our toy chest. The story goes like this;

My wife was just starting to get interested in larger toys but I was reluctant to invest $75-$100 for a premium silicone dildo.

We selected the Basix because it claims 'no phthalates or latex' - which I believed made the material safer than typical jelly or rubber. Early on everything went as planned - when my gal was craving that full-feeling, the 2" head of the Basix Dong worked great - especially because the shaft tapered down allowing her vaginal opening to relax a bit while the 2" head worked it's magic on her g-spot and even a-spot when she was able to take it deeper. I should note here that the one we purchased had 7" of insertable length - not 5" like the one EF carries.

Although she had many satisfying orgasms, she would dread me taking it out because the pronounced corona of the head would catch her pubic bone on the way out - in a painful way. Eventually I learned to rotate the shaft prior to withdrawing the head to ease the discomfort.

After about 6 months of use an unexpected problem arose. After yet another successful orgasm using the Basix, my wife complained about a burning sensation - which was rather strong and took a long time to subside. Thinking that I had failed to do a proper job of cleaning the dildo - I went wild with hot soapy water, alcohol and even dilute bleach solution.

Satisfied that the problem was solved - we tried it again and much to my surprise the thorough cleaning did not solve the problem. Evidently my wife had developed a sensitivity to the material and no amount of cleansing would solve the problem.

This left us with two choices - chuck it in the garbage or use a condom with the Basix Dong. Because of the success we'd had with it we opted to try condoms for a while. The condoms prevented any further reactions to the material - but condoms have never been a part of our sex-play - so it always seemed like a nuisance. I also found that due to the size of the Basix - condoms would routinely break. The final straw was that the condom also cut down on the pleasure my wife got from the textures of the shaft. Game-set-match - it went straight to the garbage - but at $16 it wasn't a big deal.

We replaced this with the Tantus Maverick - which is comparable in size except the shaft doesn't taper and it's very hard compared to the Basix. From there we went on to the O2 Revolution which we like much better - but our most recent purchase of the VixSkin Johnny has been the best choice of all.

As you already know - all of the silicone alternatives are 4-6x more expensive - so if you can tolerate the material or don't mind using a condom - and like 2" diameter dildos - you'll never get a better deal.

Material / Texture

Although the rubber material is 'phthalate and latex free' we still found it to be a problem. After about 6-9 months my wife developed a sensitivity which made using a condom an absolute necessity. There is also a substantial odor which did not abate over time. That's too bad because we liked the shape, texture and softness.

A lot of the advantages of the head and veining on the shaft are lost when a condom is used. There can be an issue with the softness - due to it's size, the softness can translate into 'floppiness' - but this was never a performance issue with our partner play.

Although the texture would be great for beginners - the size is definitely for advanced users.

Design / Shape / Size

When you buy the Basix Dong - you are looking for a large realistic dildo with a suction cup. If not - you're not paying attention. Is it large - yes, the 2" head is a challenge for many - impossible for many others. It's the max for my wife. She was happy to endure a bit of discomfort because the shaft tapers down to about 1.5" which does a nice job of taking pressure off her vaginal opening.

The big head including the pronounced corona is a very effective g-spot stimulator. The shaft of the one EF sells is an adequate 5" long - ours was 7". Because she rarely took in all 7" the 5" for this tool may be enough.

The faux balls are a great handle when using the Basix in partner play - and a hard stop for those looking for a large anal/p-spot toy.

Lastly the suction cup. We don't use dildos this way - but I stuck the Basix dong it to many surfaces including ceramic in the shower, a wood chair and plastic toilet seat and found it stuck all with great effect. Adding few drops of water improved the ability to get good suction - but did allow it to slide around a bit on the surface being tested. This may be good or bad - I don't know because as I said, we don't use the suction cup.

Performance

She experienced many deep g-spot orgasms from the large head - made comfortable by the tapered shaft. She also liked the squeezable softness of the shaft compared to some silicone models that are just way too stiff.

We also liked that we could use silicone lube with this toy. Since 2" is her top-end - the extra slippery nature of silicone lubes eased entry and prevented any discomfort during thrusting. Of course you can use your favorite water-based lube as well.

We really liked this toy - it seemed like such a great performer at such an affordable cost. But in the end we were disappointed when we had to get rid of it.

Care and Maintenance

Due to the porous nature of the material, regular use of a strong antibacterial soap and water is a minimum. Alcohol and or bleach are also a good idea - and finally for most I would recommend using a condom for every use.

Experience

Once we decided to get rid of the Basix dong - I decided to see if I could take it anally! It would be by far the largest for me.

With a lot of warming up from small, to medium to large - I was finally ready for huge. With a liberal dousing of silicone and some firm pressure I finally passed the huge corona of this beast. What happened next was an even bigger surprise! As my sphincter muscles contracted around the tapered shaft - my body sucked in the shaft nearly to the faux balls. The feeling of endorphins rushing through me was amazing. After a few moments to adapt, I was able to stroke the tapered shaft. I would pull it out a bit - and let go - my body would suck it back in! It didn't take long with this monster in my ass to have a massive p-spot orgasm. Just telling the story makes me long to repeat it! But alas it's gone - leaving me with the memory that bigger can be better - if you are very careful!
Follow-up commentary
There is a thread on the EF Forum asking the question - which rubber, jelly or other non-body safe toys would like to see re-made in silicone. Well the Basix dong is one of those.

The shape is superb - and if made from VixSkin - I'd pay good money for it. In silicone this toy is worth 5-6x what you pay for it in jelly.

Bunnycups - I sure wish there was an O2 or Vixskin toy designed like this. The large head and tapered shaft really is the best of both worlds. The VixSkin Johnny is as close as I've found.

Great review! I so wish they made this in silicone or VixSkin too! Sounds like you need to get two of these (in a safer material), one for the wife and one for yourself!
