Beginner's friendly? Your mileage might vary

I certainly like The Reach but depending on what kind of beginner you are the bulb can be very uncomfortable upon first insertion, since it does not provide a gentle point that stretches you out gradually. It is basically a girthy bulb with a very slim shaft. However, it is a good dildo if you are not a fan of textures or dragging materials. You really only need a small amount of lube for it.

Use

The Reach is a very soft, plush dildo made of super smooth silicone. It has a lot of give once you insert it and nicely follows your internal shape since it is very bendable and squishy. The bulb at the end of the toy is much thicker than the rest of the shaft and provides a pleasant popping feeling as you slide it in and out of your body.

I find that it actually works well if you need very shallow and gentle g-spot stimulation, but it is so soft that I doubt it would satisfy people who need firm g-spot stimulation. Since it follows the contours of your body, I find that this toy is also extremely comfortable no matter what position you are in and I have tried it sitting down, lying down and twisted in various other positions. I really can't do this with firmer materials without hurting my pubic bone, so this toy really does deserve its name of "The Reach", mostly because it is so versatile.

This dildo does not have a flared base, so I really do not suggest that you use it for anal play. It actually does not have much of a handle at all, and is undoubtedly incompatible with harnesses. I do like that it is completely smooth, so you really only need a few drops of lube to make it slippery. Unfortunately for The Reach, the lack of a handle makes it a little too slippery and you might accidentally drop it if you do not hold on to it properly.

Material / Texture

The Reach is made of very smooth, slippery silicone with almost no drag on the skin, especially if you are lubed up. Silicone is a very body safe material, and you can easily boil and bleach The Reach with no issues. Just make sure that you use water based lubricant and store it away from other silicone toys and materials made of TPE or jelly. I actually bought this as my first dildo because it was made of silicone.

I got this in Pearl white and the finish of this dildo is extremely sparkly and shiny. Even after extended use, I have not noticed any shedding or glitter on my skin after one of my sessions. They all seem to be suspended inside the silicone without touching the surface which I believe really adds to the safety of this toy.

It has a lot of give and is very squishy, and can be bended in any way you choose. However, it still has a certain bounce and would snap back in place if you let go. It is a bit of a lint magnet and somewhat sticky when you first unpack it, but this is actually minimized after a few washings.

Design / Shape / Size

Everyone seems to tout this as some kind of beginner's toy and I would have to say that this is not exactly the case. This is my very first dildo and I have only ever inserted a vibe that was around 1 inch in diameter. This toy is just a straight shaft with a very round bulb on the tip.

The design looks very unintimidating and unrealistic. However, I find that even if the material is soft, initial insertion for a beginner like myself was very painful. The tip is completely round and sort of pushes into your body all at once instead of gently flaring out and stretching you gradually. The bulb is 1.5 inches in diameter, which may not look like much but it certainly was painful during my first use.

After managing to push it inside, the shaft had a girth that my opening was more used to and I could use it fine by just keeping it inside me. I could not use it for thrusting though, because pulling the bulb out was possibly even more painful than insertion. While this could work for other beginners, I would suggest picking out something that has a gentler curve. I found the width difference from the bulb to the shaft a bit too extreme for me.

Performance

Once I finally got used to the width of the bulb after a couple of uses over time, The Reach does perform admirably. I like using it with a clitoral vibrator while I slide it in and out. Over time, the bulb felt good especially when nestled around two inches into the vagina. It also sort of pops each and every time I push it in, though it does sometimes get a little stuck behind the pubic bone if I push it in too deep.

Since the dildo is also very soft, I have no issues with really rough and deep thrusting. It certainly feels better if I go fast because it lacks the texture for slow, deliberate thrusting.

Care and Maintenance

Caring for this toy is remarkably simple. Since it is made of silicone I generally just wash it with water and antibacterial soap, though I do sometimes boil it if I want to clean it more thoroughly. It does attract lint and dust, but if I keep it inside a lint-free bag it manages to stay clean. But I still suggest that you wash it before and after use.

Silicone works best with water based lubes because oil or silicone based toys could damage your dildo. But other than that it is pretty low maintenance.

Packaging

As for the packaging, it is packed in your typical no-frills Doc Johnson blister case wedged in some cardboard so that you can see the product clearly. Shiny silver lettering forms the name of the toy and that it is made of silicone.

It is much too bulky to keep it in its original casing, so I threw away the packaging. It does not come with a storage pouch, so I just decided to sew my own lint free bag.

Follow-up commentary
Wow. I just had to write a follow up review because The Reach somehow made me squirt for the very first time ever. I don’t know what happened exactly. Apparently, thrusting the bulb against my g-spot during my climax really prolongs the orgasm for a couple seconds longer than my usual, thus leading to a squirting orgasm.

I still needed a good amount of warm up before I could insert it, but this squishy fellow really does deliver once you get the hang of it.

I do think this toy requires a little bit of a learning curve before you start to love it.

Great review! I agree, 1.5 inches of a bulb may not be so beginner friendly. I don't much care for 1.5 inches and I've been using toys a while. X.x
