For the last year or so, the Ruby has been my go-to glass dildo. It has also been one of my favorite toys overall because of its functionality, easy clean-up, and sleek styling, as well as the unique properties of the glass. The Ruby is easy to use whenever you're looking to add an extra something to your orgasm, with or without lube, as the slick glass surface makes insertion a little easier than with other materials (though a small drop of Pjur Aqua or a similar water-based lubricant is heaven). Clean-up is completely easy; if it's your own toy, just washing with warm water and soap is sufficient. If you plan to share, you can easily boil the toy, as it's made of durable Pyrex glass.

Some things to keep in mind before you use this glass dildo: as a material, glass does not provide any give or bend, so be aware that moving too quickly into different positions may cause some discomfort, as might overly vigorous thrusting. Where glass excels is the sheer sensation of gliding, and the ability to change temperature as the glass will retain the heat from within the body. Since the dildo is double-ended, with no flared base to speak of, it is not appropriate for anal play.

I love that glass is a non-porous, safe, and green material! The gentle curves of the Ruby dildo are relatively attractive, though the overall styling owes more to function than aesthetics. The glass is pristine and clear, and the toy has a well-balanced heft when held in the hand (or inserted, of course!). The surface of the glass is completely slick, which feels wonderful with twirling or thrusting, and as the glass moves from inside to outside, the temperature difference from the core of the body to the vulva is noticeable and quite pleasurable. Try inserting the glass deeply, letting it rest and squeezing your PC muscles around it, or else thrusting slowly; then remove the dildo and allow the warmth and wetness to slide between your labia, or rest on your clitoris. The heat is good for other surrounding areas, too.

At 7" in length and 1.125" in diameter, I find the Ruby to be a very comfortable size, and expect that it would be suitable for both beginner and advanced users. The Ruby is also fairly discreet -- it almost looks like a piece of glass art, and it is easy to use without making any noise or mess -- and so it would be suitable not only for travel, but also any close-quarters living situation.

Although the differently shaped ends made little difference to me in terms of g-spot stimulation (the g-spot is not actually my most sensitive area), I did appreciate the variety that the double-ended design provided me. The main source of pleasure with this dildo was the surface quality of the glass, and the toy's ability to retain heat. Although I primarily use my own body heat in order to apply the shifts in temperature, I could easily imagine warming by other means, or cooling the toy in a bowl of ice water (ovens, microwaves, and freezers should be avoided, however, to avoid damage).

One of my favorite things about the Ruby is how easy it is to clean. Since I do not share my toy, I merely use warm water and soap for everyday cleaning, with the occasional trip to the dishwasher for a more deep clean. If I were to share this toy with another person, however, I would recommend boiling it in order to completely disinfect the non-porous surface. Be careful to store your Ruby with a little padding around it (after all, it is glass, even if it's of the borosilicate variety) -- you'll want this one around for a good, long time!
