Cush Royale

This dildo is the perfect match for anyone looking for a thick but pliant dong. Cush mixes the squishy properties of jelly with the body — safeness of silicone — and the marriage of soft outer layer and firm core makes it safe for thrusting without fear. Long, girth-y, and realistic while still being a departure from other "realistic" dildos, Cush is hard to criticize.

Use

The O2 Cush by Tantus is designed with versatility in mind. It is straight to facilitate thrusting, but features a stimulating ridge and pronounced head that can stimulate your spot (be it G or P) at both shallow and complete penetration.

For female users, Cush can be used safely at multiple depths in the vagina. G-spot stimulation comes from the tip when used shallowly, and the ridge in deeper thrusting. Cush is softest in its bulbous head, which means that it squishes when pushed up towards the cervix and can provide a "full" feeling without the danger of bruising.

For male users, Cush carries the same benefits. P-spot stimulation is easy to achieve with the head and ridge; and thrusting can be accomplished with minimized damage to the walls of the rectum (or beyond, depending on one's anatomy).

Cush is entirely safe for anal. Its base means it won't get lost, and when used with water-based lube and a properly relaxed butt it can be thrust, ridden or anything your heart desires.

Cush's unique composition makes it good for solo or partnered fantasy play. It feels more realistic than other dildos, so users might enjoy engaging in rubbing it, rubbing themselves against it or giving it a blowjob. I have found that for me, its texture and weight lend well to sucking or licking it as foreplay.

Thanks to the silicone material, Cush transfers vibrations well and can be converted into a vibrator by affixing a bullet to its base or shaft. It partners well naturally with a suction attachment from the wahl 2-speed massager, but larger massagers might be too bulky for some to hold, especially if another vibrator is being used on the clitoris (or any another erogenous zone).

Material / Texture

Cush is comprised of O2 silicone: soft, "jellylike" material over a firm inner core. For users who haven't experienced other Tantus toys from this line it's very unique to the touch. It's slightly draggy, and skin-like, but not entirely. Sensation wise I'd describe it as a blend between velvet cote and superskin.

O2 Silicone is a great medium for temperature play; however, I don't recommend Cush as a medium for heating or cooling. It's very easy to make the surface warm or cold; but due to Cush's thickness getting any temperature to last costs a lot of prep-time. If you live alone and are able to plan ahead it's not a big deal, but if you're in a shared living situation you might find that needing to freeze it two to four hours is a nervous task more than an exciting one.

Cush's smell is insignificant, if existent at all. In the name of science I whiffed it fresh out of the box, and it had a light scent from the plastic it had been packed in which dissipated over a few minutes.

When licked, Cush has a neutral taste. Thanks to its nonporous silicone material, both this and its lack of smell are unlikely to change no matter how often or in what way the toy is used.

Design / Shape / Size

The form of the dildo is very malleable, especially in the head and near the base of the shaft. The ridge is more, for lack of a better word, rigid — which keeps it from squishing down entirely when being used for internal stimulation. The Cush can bend nearly backward, and it forms nicely to different body types and positions in use.

Its physical properties are typical go-ahead signs for beginners, but due to its size (7 inches long and 1 3/4" diameter, with a head slightly bigger than the shaft) it's only suitable for those who are comfortable and practiced with stretching. I wouldn't recommend this for *anyone* inexperienced in penetration.

I have a lot to say about the Cush's base. It is slightly larger than the rest of the toy, and has some natural suction to it, but not enough to function usefully as a cup (it stayed horizontally attached to my wall for 6 seconds. Ponder that as you will.) It makes a convenient handle for thrusting into yourself, or a partner, and if a massager attachment is pressed to it, it can transfer vibrations well throughout the toy.

For riding, the dildo may see mixed results. The base is not very big, and for some users might not be enough to keep it steady. Depending on your size and how vigorously you tend to ride your toys, you might want to invest in accessories to help get the most out of it and keep it from slipping or dislodging during play. I recommend a suction cup for anyone most interested in riding the Cush or using it against a wall.

I am unsure how compatible the Cush is with harnesses. It's thicker than most harnessed dildos, but with a wide enough O-ring it could definitely be accommodated and kept secure by its base.

Performance

The Cush is a toy that shines in many spotlights. There isn't much that it does unassisted (as...well, it's a dildo), but it serves whatever purpose a user puts it to quite well. For a toy of its girth I found it surprisingly comfortable. It was pleasurable both when used statically and during thrusting. For all of my own interests in solo play, it could unobtrusively be incorporated.

Although it lacks accouterments such as a built in vibrator or suction cup, it partners admirably with other toys and accessories. Someone who needs a particular source of stimulation other than the filling or pressure given by Cush on its own can easily marry it with anything in their arsenal.

As much as I try to be critical of every toy I review, I have difficulty finding much about the Cush to pick at. There are no flaws in its design that would make me point someone away from it; it really fulfills all it promises.

The bottom line of this toy is — if its design looks appealing to you, chances are you'll find it appealing in play too.

Care and Maintenance

The type of silicone used to make this dildo is incredibly easy to clean. It's nonporous so needs no special cleaners or precautions.

When used only for solo vaginal or anal play, Cush can be taken care of with a light washing before and after uses. Running it under hot water and patting it dry has maintained mine over two months of use, and should take care of it well into the future.

For sharing, or alternating between vaginal/anal play, Cush can be disinfected between uses. Boiling the dildo or throwing it in the dishwasher will disinfect it 100% and prevent the transmission of bacteria or STDs.

Because Cush has no vibrating components, no preparation such as taking out a bullet is needed before washing care is done.

To lubricate this dildo, use ONLY water-based lubricant. Silicone can bond to the material and cause it to become tacky, and oil-based lubes will degrade the surface with time. Both can alter the sensation of the toy, as well as make it less safe to use by turning it porous and leading to the harboring of bacteria.

You can store Cush with other toys, but I recommend picking out a separate bag or container for this dildo as it picks up lint like a champion. If you can't get a separate space for it, rubbing it down with water before each use to de-lint is recommended.

Packaging

The O2 Cush comes in a clear molded case. It's very to-the-point, listing the benefits of the material and design. Tantus packaging, while not in the same field as Lelo or Je Joue, has always struck me as classy. It's very..."this is a sex toy, it's not a campy gimmick, but you should enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it".

The shell casing and outer box aren't great for storage in my opinion; they're sturdy for their thickness but take up a lot of space in comparison to the actual dildo (which is pretty big on its own). Luckily, the packaging is 100% recyclable so as soon as you find the niche for your Cush in your toy box/drawer/room it can be disposed of without guilt.

As far as gifting goes, the package leaves nothing to the imagination about the toy, so gift it thoughtfully.

Experience

When Cush arrived I tore it from its box, eager to give it a try. It was large, larger than I imagined it could be, and it took preparation. Eager as I was, I needed to play with it and with myself for a long time before I was ready. But, when the time came and it slid inside of my vagina with ease it was the single best sensation I have ever experienced with a toy. I have yet to perfectly repeat it. After laying in stunned bliss for a few minutes I grabbed my wahl 2-speed massager and applied it to my clit to build up to the first squirting orgasm I had had in years.

As a budding size queen, Cush has become my best friend. I have yet to use it anally, as my schedule's very tight right now and consequentially so is my butt. I'd imagine, though, that it could lend itself to adventures there very well (and safely!). Perhaps that will be the next frontier for this toy and I.

Follow-up commentary
I was finally adventurous enough to try this toy anally and as predicted, it didn't disappoint. All said in the original review still holds true, I recommend this to anyone not intimidated by the size. It's a joy to have in my toy drawer.
