Delightfully Simple and Silky Toy

If you're looking for a very firm and G-spot friendly toy that's durable, moderately sized, discreet, pleasant to the touch, odorless, and easy to clean up, there's very little chance you'll be disappointed in the Ella.

Pros:
This toy beautiful, wonderfully firm, and extremely easy to clean.
Cons:
This toy is so simple, elegant, and well designed, I have no suggestions for improvement.

Use

If you're unfamiliar with Lelo's line of toys, the Ella is one of their many toys with a wonderfully silky texture and rock-solid construction. It's an excellent toy for women looking for firm G-spot stimulation and gentle penetration (depending on which side of the Ella you use). Men looking for a classier toy for prostate stimulation may also find the Ella useful (although a bit on the large side for beginning prostate play).

Material / Texture

Smell: The Ella has no discernible scent; in fact the glue in the box has a stronger smell than the toy.

Texture: The texture is firm but velvety. You'll have no problem stimulating a G-spot or prostate with this toy as it is very firm; the surface of the toy, however, has a very nice velvety/silky feel to it. The surface maintains the softness even after multiple uses and exposure to lubricant and body fluids.

Weight: It has a nice heft to it and certainly feels more solid than cheaper jelly/rubber toys of a similar size. It feels good in the hand.
    • No odor
    • Not porous at all
    • Rigid

Design / Shape / Size

It's a gorgeous looking toy with clean lines. If you're looking for a toy that has a phallic shape for penetrative play but doesn't look like a cheesy fake penis, the Ella is a great pick with its elegant design.

It's suitable for travel based on the lack of motors/wires/batteries/metal parts that could cause a hassle at secure checkpoints, but it's not particularly compact. It's discrete in-so-far as it doesn't immediately call to mind a porn star's molded penis, but you'd be hard pressed to argue that it's an acupressure tool. I'd argue that it's discreet enough to be looked over in a nightstand without someone immediately noticing that it's a sex toy but not discreet enough that you could argue it wasn't a sex toy upon closer examination.
    • Discreet look/design
    • Ergonomic
    • Futuristic

Performance

It's a fantastic little toy: the bulbous end is wide and smooth (perfect for people who like firm pressure during g-spot or prostate play) and the narrower end, when lubricated, is a satisfying size for penetrative play. Overall it's very difficult to say anything bad about this toy. It's well balanced, has a nice heft, and is quite versatile with the two distinct ends.
    • Comfortable
    • Easy to use
    • Lots of variety in function

Care and Maintenance

Extremely easy to clean. It's non-porous, dishwasher safe, and cleans up quickly. I've had no problems with any lubricants (water or oil-based) but have, out of old habit, steered away from silicone lubricants and cannot comment on their effects on the toy's material (a recommendation the manufacturer would second, based on the silicone construction of the toy).

There are no special storage requirements; the Ella is essentially an inert object (no need to store it separately from other toys, remove the batteries, or otherwise fuss over it).
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

The LELO company absolutely nails the packaging. Their boxes are beautiful, sturdy, and the toy is always presented well inside. The boxes are so sturdy and nice, as a matter of fact, that we never throw the LELO boxes out. We either use them to store the toy or we throw away the packaging inserts and resuse the box for storage around the bedroom. The box/packaging is absolutely lovely.

The product documentation is thorough and useful.
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Good for storage
    • Very informative

Personal comments

It's a lovely toy and would make a great first dildo. It's pretty, well packaged, durable, provides different kinds of stimulation, is discreet, and easy to clean. It's another slam dunk toy design from the LELO company that would be a welcome addition to most toy boxes.

Experience

It's a favorite around our house when my wife is in the mood for firm g-spot stimulation but not vibration (there are vibrators in the LELO line with the flat head of the Ella toy but the punch of a vibrating motor). With no batteries to worry about and silent operation it gets a lot of use. We'd purchase it again in a heart beat.

  • ella vs. others
    • I want to get ella as my first she doesn't seem as menacing as the others made of glass or metal but are those materials better sensation wise?
    • It comes down to personal preference, really. You're not going to know if glass or metal feels better to you until you try.

A couple things to keep in mind, though: glass and metal have absolutely no give, so they tend to feel bigger than silicone toys of the same size. They're also rather heavy in most cases, and so you need to be a bit more careful when you use them. Being too rough can result in internal bruising. They're very slick and smooth, though, unlike silicone which typically has some drag to it.

The Ella is pretty rigid for a silicone toy, but it's very light and easy to use. It's great if you're new to dildos. :)

I have not tried anything like that I hear alot of good things and alot of not so good things. its up to you to try and see what you prefer..

  • How Does Lelo Ella compare to Gigi?
    • I know that Ella doesn't vibrate, but are there many other differences? I am wondering whether the Ella might be a better shape or size for g-spot stimulation
    • i'm wondering this too. i bought gigi and was disappointed but ella seems even better should I or shouldn't I?

  • Would the Ella work well for a beginner?
    • I'm thinking of getting my bestfriend this for Christmas but she is new to toys. Would this be a good toy to give a newbie? I have not tried it myself so I'm not sure how easy it is to master.
    • I have the similarly shaped Gigi and found nothing but frustration when trying to thrust with it.
    • i think it would be a good option for a beginner.

  • I need help the Ella curve is doing me in.
    • I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have read every review and some twice. I can not figure this girl out. I want to write a review but, how can I write a review on something I do not get. Any ideas would be wonderful. Please help me enjoy this beautiful toy.
    • What do you not get about it? Not every toy works for every woman. Does it hurt to use? Maybe your vagina is too small for it yet or maybe you just need some lube. Do you not feel anything? Again, nothing is for everyone. Try sqeezing the toy by doing kegels when you use it. Some women say that makes things feel better. Or maybe try tilting it up towards your g-spot. That works for me with other toys.

I haven't used it yet. Just recently purchased a white Ella. And I can't wait! We've got the same name! :D
    • If you don't get it you can still write your review from that perspective. I'm sure you wouldn't be the only one who had that experience with it. I have the Ella and she's nice but she's not fireworks for me and that's ok. We all have different experiences with toys and that is what makes these reviews so valuable.

  • Dildo vs. Vibrator
    • I am having a hard time getting used to the idea of a dildo vs. a vibrator! As far as using one goes, how does one decide which is better for oneself? Just wondering and thanks!

What I mean by this I think is, is it easier with one than the other, or maybe does it require a different mind set or even is one better with partner play vs. solo? I don't know, LOL, just curious.
    • When we started with toys it was all about clit vibes for 'effective' reliable orgasms. But as we got into g-spot and a-spot stimulation, dildos have advantages over vibes because pressure is more important than vibes.

Now we almost always have some of both going on. A dildo for internal and a clit vibe for external - although she occasionally likes two vibes.

The only truism I've found is that what she wants/needs is different almost every time. I use to think 'this worked last time - so lets do it again' - but now I think 'we did that last time - what can I do to mix things up'.

That's why we have dozens of toys - both vibes and dildos.

  • Ella for beginners
    • Hey! I was just wondering if Ella would be something an absolute beginner could use, someone who's never gone looking for her g-spot before. She seems awfully tempting, but I wonder if I it's too advanced a toy for me?

Ella is perfect for beginners. I had tried several other G-spot toys before Ella. Ella was the first one that worked for me. Several people have had their first successes with Ella.

I'm glad Ella seems like such a successful toy! I hope she works for me, too <3

  • Ella and Gigi
    • I've had both the Ella and the Gigi sitting in my shopping cart for days now. I was wondering.. should I get them both, or should I maybe just get one to try, then maybe later on get the other if I want?

They both seem so worth it, it's hard to just pick one!

I just bought the Ella and have not tried it yet, but everyone seems to love it. I have had the GiGi for a couple of months and rarely use it, mainly because the control thing is located in the worst possible spot, and I invariably hit it and make the settings change! Argh! I also had no luck with it for g-spot stimulation, and the only times I get it out it is for clit work.

Even though I wasn't crazy about GiGi, it seems to do the job for a lot of people, so it might work for you. In fact, I bought it based on all the wonderful reviews. I've come to the conclusion that there is no one toy that will do the trick for everyone. Everyone is VERY different in their tastes and what they need.
    • I agree that no toy is good for everyone. I can not get a rabbit vibe that actually works for me by stimulating my clit and vag at the same time. Perhaps its operator error.
Anyway, I love the Gigi. I solved the control issue for me anyway by wiping the lube off the control and my fingers...success. The effectiveness of the Gigi is the vibe plus the design. I don't have the Ella, which is not a vibe but I see it as similar to many of the g spot dils available.
