Expectations were too high

I really have mixed feelings about the Ella. Everything about Lelo says luxury. The quality, the shape, the packaging, it's every detail that has built their name and this product does not sell them short. This silicone is amazing and I have never had a negative experience with my Ella however be careful not to make my mistake of setting unreasonable standards like I did. All three stars go towards quality and aesthetics. If I gave this product four or five, I feel it would be all hype.

Pros:
Excellent shape, appropriate girth, very high quality, affordable luxury
Cons:
Slightly too short

Use

Either end of the Ella can be used for vaginal penetration and they are designed to provide heavy g-spot stimulation. The curved head provides more acute pressure while the arched end provides broad stimulation. This toy is best suited for a woman who has a decent understanding of her body and the type of g-spot stimulation she prefers. I'm relatively experienced and know my body well but had difficulty finding my g-spot. Because this toy is flexible, I highly suggest this for partner play. It is not too long where it will hit the cervix or hard enough to hurt the pelvic bone.

Material / Texture

What beautiful silicone! You can see the quality with this toy. The Ella is made of 100% medical-grade silicone which can be bleached, boiled, or sent through the washing machine. This product is firm but soft enough it will not bruise- like some glass or steel toys- and malleable enough to bend at the thinnest sections. Opposed to other glossy silicones which I have found become tacky relatively quickly, the Ella has a matte finish which is smooth to the touch and does not attract lint or other particles. This smooth finish also keeps the Ella slick during play and does not "absorb" lube like some other toys.

Design / Shape / Size

This is a great design with dedicated purpose but I do have one problem, there simply isn't the length. In my opinion, the Ella is about one inch short. I understand that this is for shallow g-spot stimulation, however when this really is hitting *my* spot, I hardly have enough toy left to hold onto which makes any sort of manipulation quite difficult, especially if my hands are "lubey." It is much easier to thrust using the up-turned side as a handle, however I feel that defeats the purpose of owning the Ella. Aside from this, I love the overall size and shape of this product! Absolute love! I am not a size queen and the petite precise shape of this toy is both classy and elegant. In all meanings of the word, this is a luxury toy.

Performance

Although the Ella did not live up to my expectations, it is growing on me. Many women said they had their first experience with female ejaculation with this toy however, all my efforts were fruitless. My disappointment does not come from my actual experiences, more from previous expectations. That aside, the Ella is a classy and quality toy which, for the price, really can not be rivaled. Both the bulged and curved end provide unique sensations which will surely appeal to any vagina. The size of the Ella is filling but is not too large that a person needs to be fully warmed up to use. This is an easy go-to toy for partner or solo time. Because it is small this toy is extremely travel friendly and, if hidden in a carry-on bag, would not scream "DILDO" at the bagging inspection.
    • Comfortable
    • Easy to use
    • Lots of variety in function

Care and Maintenance

Ah, the benefits of silicone. The Ella is made of 100% medical grade silicone. This toy has no texture so cleaning with warm water and an anti bacterial soap is fast and easy. Also, the included manual describes certain maintenance issues specific to the Ella such as which chemicals in cleaner will harm the toy. Silicone is body safe and non-porous however using silicone based lubes will degrade the material and make it tacky.

Packaging

I received my Ella in the same shipment as my Wahl and the contrast in packaging was overwhelming. While the Wahl arrived in a simple, modest cardboard box, the Ella is packaged in a classic black box with their brand name embossed on the lid. The Ella is resting in a perfectly shaped depression and covered by a thin plastic mold. The box includes a ten year warranty, one year replacement warranty, instruction booklet and small satin bag. Although storing the Ella in the drawstring bag is more practical, mine stays in the box for the aesthetic appeal.

Experience

Although it has taken time, the more I use this toy the more it grows on me. With an extra inch however I feel I would enjoy the benefits of its unique shape much more.

Thanks for the review. I was thinking of maybe getting an Ella, but I'll keep the length factor in mind.

I'm having similar issues with the length, and like you, I'm no size queen. I'm hoping there's just a general "learning curve" with this particular toy.

Thanks for the great review of this toy...so simple in design, ..but apparently HIGHLY effective in use to MOST user. IT is now #1 on my WANT list!!!! I just wonder why it does not come in an ELLA VIBE. I worry I may end up more like you....not totally pleased. THANK YOU.

Thanks for the review. Very useful. It's a shame it didn't work perfectly for you. I am a little bit confused though.

I still don't necessarily see why a toy that "can't be rivaled" only got three stars though

I don't think this would be the toy for me; thanks for the great information.

  • ella vs. others
    • I want to get ella as my first she doesn't seem as menacing as the others made of glass or metal but are those materials better sensation wise?
    • It comes down to personal preference, really. You're not going to know if glass or metal feels better to you until you try.

A couple things to keep in mind, though: glass and metal have absolutely no give, so they tend to feel bigger than silicone toys of the same size. They're also rather heavy in most cases, and so you need to be a bit more careful when you use them. Being too rough can result in internal bruising. They're very slick and smooth, though, unlike silicone which typically has some drag to it.

The Ella is pretty rigid for a silicone toy, but it's very light and easy to use. It's great if you're new to dildos. :)

I have not tried anything like that I hear alot of good things and alot of not so good things. its up to you to try and see what you prefer..

  • How Does Lelo Ella compare to Gigi?
    • I know that Ella doesn't vibrate, but are there many other differences? I am wondering whether the Ella might be a better shape or size for g-spot stimulation
    • i'm wondering this too. i bought gigi and was disappointed but ella seems even better should I or shouldn't I?

  • Would the Ella work well for a beginner?
    • I'm thinking of getting my bestfriend this for Christmas but she is new to toys. Would this be a good toy to give a newbie? I have not tried it myself so I'm not sure how easy it is to master.
    • I have the similarly shaped Gigi and found nothing but frustration when trying to thrust with it.
    • i think it would be a good option for a beginner.

  • I need help the Ella curve is doing me in.
    • I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have read every review and some twice. I can not figure this girl out. I want to write a review but, how can I write a review on something I do not get. Any ideas would be wonderful. Please help me enjoy this beautiful toy.
    • What do you not get about it? Not every toy works for every woman. Does it hurt to use? Maybe your vagina is too small for it yet or maybe you just need some lube. Do you not feel anything? Again, nothing is for everyone. Try sqeezing the toy by doing kegels when you use it. Some women say that makes things feel better. Or maybe try tilting it up towards your g-spot. That works for me with other toys.

I haven't used it yet. Just recently purchased a white Ella. And I can't wait! We've got the same name! :D
    • If you don't get it you can still write your review from that perspective. I'm sure you wouldn't be the only one who had that experience with it. I have the Ella and she's nice but she's not fireworks for me and that's ok. We all have different experiences with toys and that is what makes these reviews so valuable.

  • Dildo vs. Vibrator
    • I am having a hard time getting used to the idea of a dildo vs. a vibrator! As far as using one goes, how does one decide which is better for oneself? Just wondering and thanks!
    • Quote: I am having a hard time getting used to the idea of a dildo vs. a vibrator! As far as using one goes, how does one decide which is better for oneself? Just wondering and thanks!
What I mean by this I think is, is it easier with one than the other, or maybe does it require a different mind set or even is one better with partner play vs. solo? I don't know, LOL, just curious.
    • When we started with toys it was all about clit vibes for 'effective' reliable orgasms. But as we got into g-spot and a-spot stimulation, dildos have advantages over vibes because pressure is more important than vibes.

Now we almost always have some of both going on. A dildo for internal and a clit vibe for external - although she occasionally likes two vibes.

The only truism I've found is that what she wants/needs is different almost every time. I use to think 'this worked last time - so lets do it again' - but now I think 'we did that last time - what can I do to mix things up'.

That's why we have dozens of toys - both vibes and dildos.

  • Ella for beginners
    • Hey! I was just wondering if Ella would be something an absolute beginner could use, someone who's never gone looking for her g-spot before. She seems awfully tempting, but I wonder if I it's too advanced a toy for me?

Ella is perfect for beginners. I had tried several other G-spot toys before Ella. Ella was the first one that worked for me. Several people have had their first successes with Ella.

I'm glad Ella seems like such a successful toy! I hope she works for me, too <3

  • Ella and Gigi
    • I've had both the Ella and the Gigi sitting in my shopping cart for days now. I was wondering.. should I get them both, or should I maybe just get one to try, then maybe later on get the other if I want?

They both seem so worth it, it's hard to just pick one!

I just bought the Ella and have not tried it yet, but everyone seems to love it. I have had the GiGi for a couple of months and rarely use it, mainly because the control thing is located in the worst possible spot, and I invariably hit it and make the settings change! Argh! I also had no luck with it for g-spot stimulation, and the only times I get it out it is for clit work.

Even though I wasn't crazy about GiGi, it seems to do the job for a lot of people, so it might work for you. In fact, I bought it based on all the wonderful reviews. I've come to the conclusion that there is no one toy that will do the trick for everyone. Everyone is VERY different in their tastes and what they need.
    • I agree that no toy is good for everyone. I can not get a rabbit vibe that actually works for me by stimulating my clit and vag at the same time. Perhaps its operator error.
Anyway, I love the Gigi. I solved the control issue for me anyway by wiping the lube off the control and my fingers...success. The effectiveness of the Gigi is the vibe plus the design. I don't have the Ella, which is not a vibe but I see it as similar to many of the g spot dils available.
