The Nubby Melon Crank from Don Wands is best used as a vaginal dildo/stimulator. It can be manipulated by grasping the small glass crank on the bottom. Turning the crank causes the Nubby Melon to spin around inside your vagina. When fully inserted, the bumps on the top of the base will stimulate the labia.

This is a toy that is suitable for solo use as well as partner play. The toy's base is large enough that it can be used anally if desired. The insertable length is short, but care should be taken because of its rigidity so you don’t bruise yourself internally when thrusting.

The Nubby melon is made of clear borosilicate glass, so it is smooth, non-porous, phthalates-free, and hypoallergenic. Borosilicate glass is more resistant to breaking and shattering than ordinary glass, so if it breaks it will snap or break into large pieces rather than shattering into small bits.

This toy has no smell or taste, and can be used in the shower or bath.

The texture of the toy, from the head ridges to the nubs on the shaft and base, add extra stimulation, although most notably on the head and base. Since the toy is glass, it is hard and inflexible. There are no seams visible.

The Nubby can be used for temperature play by heating or cooling it under running water. It should never be microwaved or frozen, however, as this can cause burns or frost bite.

This style of dildo is called a juicer for the design of the head. The head looks like a citrus juicer you would use to squeeze fresh juice from an orange or grapefruit, and will “juice” your insides. The crank on the bottom of the juicer doesn’t actually move, but it allows the dildo to be rotated inside you in either a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction by holding on to it and turning it with your fingers.

The entire dildo is 6” long, and feels substantial in your hands. The insertable length is just 4”.

The head is about 1 1/2" wide, and about 1 1/2" long. It has a nice slightly tapered tip 6 “juicer” lines which radiate from the tip and become fainter over the bulge.

The shaft is about 2 1/2" long and 1” wide. The top portion of the shaft is about 1 1/4" long, and smooth. The bottom portion is covered with 22 raised nubby glass circles in varying sizes.

The base of the Nubby is 2” in diameter, and about ½” thick. It has 10 raised nubby circles going around its top. The crank is just under 1 1/2" long, and ½” wide on it’s shaft. The ball at the end is about 3/4" wide, and it is easy to grasp between your thumb and 2 fingers.

The bulbous head of the Nubby Melon can be a bit tricky to insert, but once inside it feels filling. The glass bumps on the shaft don’t add a lot of stimulation, but the bumps on the base do externally when the Nubby is cranked around.

The Nubby Melon is fairly short, so it can be difficult to grasp and spin the dildo by oneself. The crank does make it easy to gently thrust the toy, and the base can be grasped for more vigorous use.

Use with a partner is more fun, as your partner will be able to crank the Nubby Melon around when it’s inserted, and you will get the external stimulation from the base.

Care instructions are included on the back of the packaging tag, as well as on a sheet inside. The Nubby Melon should be cleaned with antibacterial soap and warm water before and after use.

The Nubby Melon is durable and scratch resistant, but it should always be inspected before each use for any cracks or chips. It should never be used if damage is found.

This toy should always be stored in its protective pouch, which is included. The pouch is a lovely lavender color, and very soft and pillowy. It is about 5” wide and 5 1/2” tall, and about 1” thick when empty, and has a black drawstring at the top. The storage pouch could be just a bit longer, as the crank makes it difficult to insert the Nubby Melon fully inside the bag so it’s entirely protected. The drawstring doesn’t close the bag all the way.

Both water-based and silicone lubes can be used with the Nubby Melon, and only a little is needed to make the entire toy slick and easy to insert.

The Nubby Melon comes in an easy-to-open clam-shell case with staples holding the package closed down the sides. The top tag has care instructions, and both the toy and storage pouch are visible through the plastic.

In addition to the storage pouch, this toy comes with a sample of Wet Platinum Premium Body Glide lube.

The head is somewhat difficult to insert in part because of the width, but also since this dildo is hard. Once it’s in, however, it feels quite filling.

I had difficulty cranking this around at a decent speed. I found it easy to thrust, however, and since it’s fairly short I didn’t feel like I was in danger of bruising anything myself.

I was a little worried about having my husband use it on me since he can get quite vigorous at times. I found that with the short length and the base that we didn't have any problem with him hurting me in most positions. The only position that wasn't comfortable was in doggie-style.

My husband had no difficulty with holding onto or spinning the crank as long as it wasn't covered with lube, and he liked having this on the bottom. He was also able to thrust this by just holding onto the crank. The smoothness of the glass combined with a bit of lube really made the Nubby Melon glide.
