O2 Adam - realistic dildo by Tantus - review by Adriana Ravenlust

My time with Adam O2 was really experimental. I had recently acquired (and ruined) a Vixskin dildo and wanted to know if Tantus could produce a similarly realistic toy with their O2 technology.

Adam arrived in the typical Tantus plastic box. I'm not a big fan because the flaps like to pop open and the box can lose its shape during shipping. The clear box makes it super easy to see the toy, however. And Adam was a sight to see! It was much larger than the only other realistically shaped toy I had and weightier, too. The design is absolutely not discreet and there's no storage option included to aid in this endeavor.

Out of the box, I sized up Adam. Other reviewers have described it as an average sized toy and the measurements (1.76" diameter by 6.5" insertable length) suggested this to me but I was taken aback at how large it seemed. Similarly, Adam -felt- large when inserted. It could be a general lack of penetration on my part but Adam is not a tiny toy and some people may prefer working up to it with other toys or body parts, especially if used anally.

To that extent, Adam is a go. The flared base, intended for strap on use, makes it practical as an anal toy and the silicone is hygienic--lacking the pores that make other materials undesirable for anal play or swapping. A bleach dip or 3 minute boil solve that issue easily. For every day cleaning, soap and water will do just fine. Note that Adam's velvety texture may pick up some lint as is expected of silicone.

But I know you want to know more about that texture. Just how is that O2? Is it really any more remarkable than your typical dildo? The design does feel differently from any other dildo. The dual core texture is solid in the center while the exterior is softer, much softer than the Goliath (also by Tantus). However, it's not -as- soft as one might expect nor is the outer layer consistent. It's thicker in some places (such as the upper/outside and the head) than others (including the underside, close to the head) and it's obvious this is by design but.. I don't really like it. The overall feel of this, in use, does differ from any other dildo but is far from realistic. I was still acutely aware of the fact that something synthetic was in my vagina. In fact, I found the silicone to still be too firm in places (where the outer layer was thinner) for direct comfort. I have especial difficulty fully inserting and enjoying toys when they are too firm and this is far too firm to imitate a real penis.

With that said, it's not that Adam O2 isn't a well made toy. The quality is amazing and it's very attractive. The realistic texture is velvety along the majority of the toy, except for the contoured head where it shines. The chocolate version that I received very much makes a girl's mouth water for real chocolate. The curve of the shaft is more dramatic than I usually go for (I'd say about 25 degrees) and stimulated my G-spot adequately. The contoured head also works well for specific stimulation and you can hold the base to thrust or, as I mentioned, use it in a harness for strap-on play. However, I did not find that the slight veining along the shaft added much in terms of stimulation. To me, it seems that this exists mostly for appearance's sake.

I would seriously caution against using silicone-based lube with this product as, I have experienced, silicone with the dual core treatment are more vulnerable to reactions. Water-based is definitely the way to go.

Although Adam was not the perfect toy for me, many people will enjoy it as long as they understand just what they're getting.
