Crystal lover - dildo discontinued by Orion - review by Chilipepper

As with most dildos, the Crystal Lover is intended to be used for vaginal penetration. However, I also understand that due to the shape of the conical end, it can also be used for light anal play with it's tapered out 'base' towards the middle. The slender shape of the whole also makes it suitable for vaginal insertion while performing clitoral stimulation due to no 'bumping' of toys while playing. It can also be used by one partner on another, as it can be held quite easily (without lubrication) by either end. Warm-up (and lube) may be required for use of the bulbous end since there is no 'introduction' taper bulb.

The Crystal Lover is hard acrylic, giving it the appearance and texture of glass without the heft. It is clear, giving quite a treat for the eyes to gaze through it. There are no seams, making it completely smooth all over. There is no smell at all, although washing with soap and water is recommended before first use. Acrylic also keeps to room temperature (compared to glass which is normally cooler in room temperature), and warms up to the body very quickly.

The Crystal Lover is double-shaped, meaning that either end can be used for different stimulation experiences. One end is a flared cone, starting as a smooth discreet point (about two inches around) and ending four inches at a 'middle base' about four and one-half inches around. The other end has two bulbous bumps, the first measuring three and one-half inches around, the second (separated by a smaller neck) measures three and three-quarter inches around, then tapers down to the 'middle base' mentioned earlier. The overall length is eight inches and one-half inches, with four (or slightly more) inches of insertible length at either end. The first bulb is flattish at the top, requiring warm up for use.

The weight is much lighter than glass, but is also substantial enough on its own; it would weigh similiarly to a thin-walled plastic phallic vibrator with two 'C' batteries.

The design is more of a work of art, and would not be immediately identified as a dildo if casually glanced at. In fact, I have considered taking it to a Harry Potter convention and calling it "My glass wand with a core of silicone lube - because this doesn't need to vibrate to work it's magic".

I have owned the Crystal Lover for six months now, giving me an 'in-depth' understanding of it's shape and how it works with my body. I've never had to use outside lubrication with it, as the smooth texture is incredibly receptive to my own body's production of the same stuff. The ends produce different feelings inside; the conical/funnel being very straight forward (but a little too stabbish for me), and the bulbous creating incredible sensations against the vaginal walls while thrusting. It is a good dildo for beginners to try out different shapes while needing a smooth texture.

This is not meant for hands-free or harness play.

Acrylic merely requires hot water and soap or a basic toy cleaner fluid to keep clean and sanitized. If using between partners (or both vaginal and anal use), then dressing it up with a condom would be necessary to keep things clean. Since it can scratch, storage can be as simple as placing it inside a folded towel. According to material information, acrylic does best with silicone and water-based lubes (though they may be a bit much considering the smoothness of this dildo).

Very basic packaging - set into a thin shaped-plastic holder and placed inside a basic thin cardboard box. If given as a gift I suggest wrapping it first - or even taking it out of the package and presenting it in a padded velvet bag that can double as storage. This item certainly deserves a more classy home.
